I am from Ghana. I can feel my ancestors guiding your spirits in the drums, music, and dancing. You were taken away, but your soul, is pure African 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I’m from Mexico and I feel the same way! That is how strong the spirits were out... Amazing! Wow! Yo no soy de allá y se me hico la piel chinita... Espectacular! Gracias por compartir con nosotros.
Folks this is exactly what we do in Africa. Culture indeed cannot be wiped away.I really love you guys. This is exactly the Culture of the Ewes in Ghana, the Benin near Nigeria, and the Ewe speaking people in Togo. I really love you guys.
I am Yoruba from Nigeria. I met a Puerto Rican fellow earlier today and he shared this video with me. It's nice seeing this. The sounds of the drums feels more like home.
@@AllahDivine there is no Bomba genre anywhere else outside of PR. Those are not your people. They're our people. Those are my ancestors not yours. Your ancestors sold them off and they became proud Boricuas
This is called Condomble in Nigeria, I believe. I saw the same religion and dress practiced in Brazil. Africa is EVERYWHERE and will always be here. Nations will come and go. Africa will outlive us all.
@@mmunizberdeguez I am pure blooded puerto rican according to Ancestry. But when it breaks down my exact roots I have almost 35% from Benin Togo, 40% Portuguese and the rest Taino.
Hey, extend love to all Latin America . African culture and heritage in this part of the world is present in all Central, South America and Caribbean. Plus, its mixed with white, Asian, indigenous and we probably have alien blood too!
Even though I was born in the states, I’m so proud of my Puerto Rican roots 🇵🇷 I can feel my ancestors through the drums and dancing. Very powerful! ♥️
mi gente. I am so proud of the diaspora. I am and half nigerian and white and I speak spanish and its so funny but yet emotional when I go to the DR and PR because they automatically assume I am one of them but I also have reunited with my family that were taken and seeing my African culture still persist among all of us is amazing.

This is our African roots in puerto rico a cultural dance and musical rhythm We do especially in the town of loiza ,, we embrace and love our African roots,, come to puerto rico sister you are part of our family tree ,, ❤ 🎉
I was taught how to dance Bomba in school. It was part of the curriculum in my home town Rincón. We traveled all over the Island to dance in festivals. Ada García was my teacher and she still is the director of Bellos Atardeceres Ballet. I love our African roots. Those drums, we can feel them in the heart.
Siempre lo he dicho!
Diamond Baby I love how you not only showed a childish mindset with your hostility, but stupidity as well. Let me educate you on why It was called Boriken, it’s because it was named by the indigenous taínos which in English means “Land of the valiant lord”. The name came from the Taino-Arawak people, The terms “Boricua” and “Borinqueño” derive from the words “Boriken” and “Borinquen”respectively. And are commonly used to identify someone who is or has Puerto Rican descent. There are still Puerto Rican’s today who call our lovely land “Boriken” today, please educate yourself next time your hostility decides to overpower your ego.
And this folks is why Blacks in the U.S. love Puerto Ricans. They embrace ALL of their heritage and culture. They are a very proud Latino people. I love Bomba. It gives me a special energy that I can't describe. I can't wait to visit Puerto Rico
Jerome Theseus Oh yes, Spaniards have a lot of influence throughout the Caribbean and all over the west. You're so right about that. It doesn't have that much here in Louisiana though. French and West African are the main influences in Louisiana which is kind of sweet. I love French cuisine and the arrogance lol. That's a nice mix of your parents :).
Speechless... This is beautiful. I'm African American from Mississippi and this right here... I have family in Florida (my grandfather and great grandparents are from Florida) and I feel like this is part of me and I don't know it. Feel such a connection when I watch these videos. Makes me want to study my grandfather side of the family even more. It is nice to see the different shades all in one place. That's how it's suppose to be.

@@icelordthetrader9013 well that’s cause there in reality not many taínos still in Puerto Rico that is because when the Spanish fist colonized the island they were all slaves and massacred. Only a small amount ended up surviving. But we try
Life without memories how nothing to write about. I truly missed those 60s and 70s life style, those time is nothing but fun and lot of happiness. Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 got so many history to always remember
+Imani Warren I'm just glad that my island treasures this and as a community we celebrate it. This stuff has to survive so long as we have our feet grounded on planet Earth. This is our legacy, we must keep our kids seeing these celebrations, and always see the beauty and strength in this. Our ancestors didn't have power in their situation, but they were never powerless. I'm sure the ISLANDS and the beauty of their surroundings also gave then strength, wild flowers, a little frog found no where else in the world, food, dance, foundational support as a community. They endured with pride and grace and weren't uninformed about who they are.
As an African American woman I'm sending my love to my brothers and sisters (if you don't mind me addressing you as such) in the Carribeans, Central and South America... I've enjoyed my visits. ❤️❤️❤️
So proud to see the African culture survived through out the Caribbean. Blacks from the U.S. especially the south don't seem to understand that black people exist in Spanish countries especially. Respect pa' mi gente bella, mi gente negra, viva los afro-Latinos
Cubapanablacc Yes it sure did!!! Alive and well!!! The US blacks have lost all of their African Roots. It also shows you that people who were slaves under Spain, had more freedom than in American. American slavery was the worst in history sick shit... I read in a article that Slaves under spain were allowed to get married as well.
@papi king 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️😂😂😂😂😂. Dude you can't create something that was already in existence.... The Black culture was the only thing blacks had that Europeans couldn't take.. so they took pride in it and passed it down to their sons and daughters. GET IT? because we have the same dance on the continent... and it originated there🤷♂️🤷♂️
I'm East African and I have always been drawn to the afro Caribbean, afro latino culture. Maybe it's because I see a lot of similarities to my own culture, probably not as much as someone from west Africa would but I just see my people when I see you

As Ozzy said I'm a white Puerto Rican but extremely proud of my people. I visited the beach in Loiza when I was 11 years old('71) and had a wonderful and cultural experience.
I was three weeks old when my parents moved to Puerto Rico. Learned to swim as an infant in a tide pool at Crash Boat Beach before I could walk. I actually remember, at 3 years old, the beautiful flowers on the trees and the many people who stopped walking to pinch my chubby pink cheeks. Que lindo, they said. I'm 66 years old now and I still long to splash in the ocean tide pools of Puerto Rico's Crash Boat Beach! It is like a sense or body memory. Wonder what its like now. Unfortunately, I now live in dry, hot, relentless cactus Arizona. Hate it, but love mi familia!

Orgullo De mi gente Bella 🇨🇴🇵🇷 Colombian and Puerto Rican with African and indigenous heritage from both. We feel the love and rhythm from Africa when we hear Bomba...I know I can’t stop myself from moving and feeling so proud of this passed down tradition ❤️
