In London we are taught the civil rights and the struggle African Americans had to go through and this sad piece of history was taught to us to show that many people can be racist

In 5th grade, we read “The Watson’s Go to Birmingham” where we learned about this tragedy. Throughout the rest of my years in school (college included), I was never taught this again. Sad. Everyone needs to know this.

This was the church of wrestling personality Theodore long who is from Birmingham Alabama. I heard from a WWE Hall of Fame clip that he lost one of his best friends at that church. That was very devastating of what happened to those people.

I was two years old when this happened . Living in Baldwin Kansas. My Mother raised us kids by Dr Kings words. You look at someone’s character not the color of their skin she always said.. It blows my mind especially today, that there are still those out there,that think that racism & systemic racism “isn’t really a thing”. Those that think like that are ignorant and/or just have lousy character . And those that think truth in history shouldn’t be told & taught , are part of the reason this unfairness exists today. It makes me sick. Truth? There is good and bad in everyone, and nobody is better , or worse, than anyone else. I’m glad I know that.

I see in the thread that many kids come to watch this video. There's a superb documentary series that you may not have heard about yet (although I'm sure some of you have) called Eyes on the Prize... Part 1 is on DVD, and on sale at many retailers... it's 6 hours long, and it only costs twenty-odd dollars. You should buy it if you get the chance; you'll probably want to watch it numerous times over the course of your lives, even after you're not in school anymore.

Any footage of the aftermath of the Bombing as well as the funerals of the girls? I want to see it in it's originality not through or some documentary unless the documentary is strictly about the two..I was born in 1988 so all of this was before my time but I'm a history buff..I love black history the good the bad and the ugly! I like looking at pictures and reading the MANY stories from back then..most of them are sad but :( I still love my black history

Yeah much later though. Only 2 were convicted & the other 2 men involved died before they were able to be indicted. Thomas Edwin Blanton was convicted in April 2001 & sentenced to life in prison. He died June 2020. Thomas Cherry was also convicted in May 2002 & given a life sentence. He died too November 2004.
