There are communities in Pennsylvania and other states where they fought viciously with school boards or in some cases blocked charitable groups from repaying or forgiving school lunch debt the same way they fought against the government forgiving student loans for people in their thirties and forties whose student loan debts had mushroomed into the equivalent of a mortgage on a mansion. One town got mad that the school administration had been feeding kids who owed student lunch payments for free because the town wants kids whose parents may be suffering economic hardship to go hungry to learn a lesson.
