Bon Iver - Beth/Rest (Rare Book Room Version) 

Well, I’ve returned. Another year later, the 6th year in a row I’ve returned at first snowfall to write to all of you. A long week, a long year even, as I’m sure it has been for many of you, too. Here’s what I say, in spite of everything we go through in this life, the stress and anxieties we all face, either spoken or unspoken, we must remember we’ve all been there, and if you’re feeling alone or just needing a friendly reminder that someone is thinking of you, come back and read this. Regardless of any hardships, I’m praying for and thinking of you all, you beautiful strangers. As always God Bless and Good Winter to you all and whatever hurts now will pass. Good morning, everyone! I didn’t forget, never will! I promise. It was just a late snowfall, but here we are, snowing cold here in Northern New York, just south of Canada. What is this, year 8? Things are changing just like they always do and time keeps on moving. Things are good, though, for the most part and for that I’m grateful. I did the most traveling I ever have this year, and this coming June I get married. Sometimes I look back on older message now that I’m 24 and reflect on the 16-17 year old kid who first left a message in these comments. Sometimes, I miss being young like that, anybody else feel that way sometimes? For now, I would love to hear back from you soon as I leave you with yet another yearly note, wishing you all the best. I’m sure some of you have been wondering “where is he?”. I’m here, don’t worry, it’s just been a late snowfall this year, but I’m staring out the balcony door as I type, snow coming down. A big year for me recently. I got engaged, starting to finally get back to playing shows again, and getting to meet so many people and bring them some music. I won’t forget to post, don’t worry. justin's lower register is stunning as well. a lot of people don't appreciate it and how effortlessly he can switch into his falsetto. gorgeous.

This version of Beth/Rest makes me have goose bumps all over... this is spectacular. The deep voice makes it really serious. I love the fact that there are two versions that has completely different feel to them, perfect for the different moods you're in. Lovely!

WTF happened? It's like this song disappeared from all sources except youtube... Spotify, Amazon, GooglePlay, eMusic? I am deeply hurt... This was one of the greatest songs/renditions of said song of our time. Please bring it back.

This video transformed a B-side into what is in my opinion, now the finest moment in Justin Vernon's discography. You encapsulate the sense of nostalgia and personal loss perfectly. I'm not sure if you intended it to be so, but I found this utterly heartbreaking. But thank you anyway.

I'm happy I found this after it disappeared from Spotify. My father love this song and this is a song dear to both of our hearts. He wants this to be played on his funeral when he dies. I was worried when it disappeared I would never be able to make it true when the time comes. Now atleast we can continue to listen and love it til the time comes 🙂

Justin Vernon is a genius. It is unbelieavable how much he does with his limited discography. I already loved the album version and the live session version with Sean, but this blew me away once again. i just recovered after sessions of my relapsing depression that has happened to me for at least 6 years, i was numb for at least 5 or 6 months and recently i felt something again his songs really does enlight the spark in me that has been buried behind the hollow of void inside my head. im ahead to my next therapy and medication next week, i really do hope for the best for us who dealt with the same struggle 🤍

hi! yea this is my favorite version of this song. i heard it on a livestream a long time ago.. i can't remember where i got this mp3 from though, but it's all over spotify, soundcloud, etc.

John you can listen to this in MUCH BETTER QUALITY on Spotify, given it doesn't include the visuals. But "youtube is made for this." just isn't true! And Spotify isn't as good as downloading the iTunes version even! This song deserves so much more than youtube gives it!
