One of their most underrated songs, great lyrics, great riff - simply a great song, if not even more than that! It should alway be among their Top 10 songs.
Jürgen M I still feel that this amazing work holds you like a glove to your hand,so I still think that the group (original members only) you can feel the glory and the thunder of Sambora's guitar Ticco, with those amazing drums and David with his piano work and I do believe Hugh McDonald (bass) unless I miss my bet. And as artist and photographer, I know that the quicker you can follow any artist and do it well makes you needed. As I have stated I am a living ghost I can go where I wish. I am sure that the bulk of the original group will go on. Hey God, what about the empty "house"... Enough said, peace, love and blessings to you all.. 🐾🎨
Jürgen M It’s what the band wants to make it and what fans want to make it, if they played this song live more consistently it would be more recognized. But only Richie can play this song sorry not sorry haha
I wish a wider audience knew more about this song than the big hits. One thing I like about Bon Jovi is that they've always tried different things, whether sing-along anthems, socially conscious songs, country-flavored tunes, acoustic stuff or more aggressive tracks like this.
this is the 1st track of the album. so when you start listen to it, the intro of this song hits you in the face like thousands of huge rocks ! epic song
What is the metaphysical essence behind this song? Is he questioning the sovergnty of monotheistic God revealed in the Holy Bible in the face of many tragic incidents occurring all over the world?
We will never know that answer until we are one with God. God never ever said life was going to be easy. I also turn to this amazing song when I’m down and this song has many spins to the lyrics. I take it as a beyond frustrated person just yelling at God bc we all feel the same way.❤🙏👣🎶
I love this song....so many can surely relate to this during these trying times. Nobody can write about and sing about our feelings better than Bon Jovi. Thanks, God, for sending me Bon Jovi.
“During these trying times”???? - NINE years ago? Hahahaha! - Hey dude in the midst of “trying times” nine years ago... I’d like you to meet the year 2020...
Love this track. The closest I've ever heard Bon Jovi to sounding angry. Somebody was feeling seriously pissed off when he wrote this. Brilliant track from a criminally undervalued album.
Jon bon jovi is a son of GOD and he is GOD_s mercy after all he is just a human being, simple men full of love and smile and endless energy.Hallelujah ,hatikvah .AMEN
@@maciekkorona9654 I feel like everyone hates them, so I tell them to listen to Keep the Faith, These Days, and Crush. Bon Jovi nowadays is NOT the Bon Jovi that I love
"She did her best to raise him, but the world got in the way" --> this words always give me chills and wet eyes at the same time. such irony. that's why I love Bon Jovi. their lyrics so powerful. not only some lame love songs.
A well written song that is most likely their most under rated works. Power guitars, exceptional lyrics and powerful vocals. The band just sounds perfect here. A heavy Bon Jovi piece.
Still loving it. Heaviest Bon Jovi song ever. I miss this sound from them. This song followed immediately "Something for the pain" sounds just perfect to me. I always end up listening to both together :-)
My favourite Bon Jovi album, I'll replay them all once a year, just blast them for a month and move on, These Days stays in the cd player longest. Just love Ritchie's sound on this so much.
Es escucharla una vez y no poder parar. Y es que hay momentos en la vida en que te sientes tan identificado con esta canción... GRANDE, MUY GRANDE BON JOVI!
"OK, ready?" "Just about" "Let's go" BAM! This song hits hard and is a prelude to the rest of what is arguably their greatest album of all time - and that's saying something. This was a time when grunge was still dominating rock stations and bands like STP or Goo Goo Dolls (who I saw open for BJ on the 2003 Bounce tour) were fighting for airplay along with crap like Macarena!! Oy!! Any discussion about the most underrated albums of all time is not complete unless These Days is part of the conversation. This track is fitting for any time in recent history - but 2020 especially!
I think These days and Keep the Faith are their best albums and I've been a fan since 7800. Once they really started writing socially conscious songs their music became way more meaningful for me. I wish Jon, Richie and Desmond would get together and write another couple of albums because that seems to be the best combination for Bon Jovi songs. Jon's Destination Anywhere was a great album as well.
Well I don't see why are you so angry against Grunge or seems to be for me. The hard rock That Bon Jovi recorded and played during the 80's had its time. And accept it Grunge was amazing great and part of the amazing Underground and independent movement of Music that was generated in the early 90's til the end of the 90's. And i Feel part of it. I am 40 years old now and I am tired of People being so rude and hard to Alt. Rock Music Pop scene. New wave, Shoegazing, Dream Pop, Grunge, Industrial, Trash, acoustic, Folk, Britpop and al the Girls rock and Pop took the radio stations thats what my generation wanted and liked. Even the Spice Girls made a great pop rock work. like many others Like Veruca Salt, Candle Box, Counting crows, Toad the Wet sprocket and Cranberries. It is nice that bon jovi was part of the 90's and they got further than that, but don't critic music for being what it was. take a look now we dont have MTV. and we dont have any good music around in the last 2 years. Maybe Billie Eilish Sam Smith Adele and Lana del Rey. and excuse me we won't have n more grunge and rock and roll like we had in the past. think about it. If something i hate: go for Maroon 5...!
Best album ever no matter what artist/band:-) If I should rank Bon Jovis albums it must be: 1. These days 2. New Jersey 3. Keep the faith 4. Harder...probably Slippery when wet If we include Jon Bon Jovis solo albums I easily put his second one, Destination Anywhere, on the second place. The young guns 2 one, between Keep the faith and Slippery when wet.
@@elmarbeau work on your reading and comprehension. You ask why I'm angry and then go on a tirade about how mad you are, lol!! I did not rip on grunge, I simply pointed out that the stage had made a dramatic shift in music which is why this album didn't see much play time. I try to be diverse and I'm always looking for great music so as long as a song kicks ass I'll listen. A current band I've seen several times now and always kicks ass is July Talk out of Toronto. But I'll jam to JT, Queensryche, Meatloaf, Valley of Wolves, AIC, Soundgarden, All Good Things, STP, Mother Love Bone, Jovi, Sam Smith, LDR, Nomy (just discovered this guy a few weeks ago), Skillet, Marylin Manson, hell I even like Tones and I's voice! But this is still one of the greatest albums of all time.
ESTOY DE ACUERDO CONTIGO BROTHER POR ESO ESTAMOS VIVIENDO TIEMPOS DIFICILES EN CUALQUIER ASPECTO Y CREO K ESTA BANDA ES UNA DE LAS QUE SE INTERESAN MUCHO EN NUESTROS PROBLEMAS SOCIALES QUE NOS AQUEJAN Y POR ESO ESTA SUPER BANDA ES HASTA AHORITA UNA DE LAS QUE NUNCA PASAN NI PASARAN DE MODA Y GUSTOS...CHIDO POR ELLOS!!1
Hey God, I'm just a little man got a wife and family But I almost lost the house Yeah, I bought into the dream We're barely holdin' on, when I'm in way to deep We're two paychecks away from living out on the streets She's a workin' single mom, like a Saint she doesn't complain She never says a word, but she thinks that she's to blame Her son just got convicted, he blew some "cop" away (corrected by 80sMetalGoldEra) She did her best to raise him, but the world got in the way Hey God - Tell me what the hell is going on Seems like all the good shits gone It keeps on getting harder hanging on Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream These days you've even harder to believe I know how busy you must be, but Hey God... Do you ever think about me Born into the ghetto in 1991, just a happy child Playing beneath the summer sun A vacant lots' his playground, by 12 he's got a gun The odds are bet against him, junior don't make 21 Hey God - Tell me what the hell is going on Seems like all the good shits gone It keeps on getting harder hangin' on Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream These days you've even harder to believe I know how busy you must be, but Hey God... I'd get down on my knees I'm going to try this thing you way Seen a dying man too proud to beg spit on his own grave Was he too gone to save? Did you even know his name? Are you the one to blame, I got something to say Hey God - Tell me what the hell is going on Seems like all the good shits gone It keeps on getting harder hangin' on Hey God, there's nights you know I want to scream These days you've even harder to believe I know how busy you must be, but Hey God... Do you ever think about me
I heard this album in the same age, now is part of my life, & is an masterpiece, I say this before but nobody believe me, what this album is full of Alternative Rock, & I am big fan of alternative rock, and this album have it all, and regards from mexico
As an Evangelical Christian, it is hard for me to agree with his philosophy. However, I can somewhat show sympathy with his theodicy-related ultumate metaphysical question regarding the cause of evil prevailed in this world.
I keep wondering when people say that all of Bon Jovi's songs sounds the same.... Umm, take this song and say, Only Lonely. I can't see the connection. Love Bon Jovi.
2 years later, than I wrote the comment here 👍 "She's a workin' single mom Like a saint she don't complain She never says a word but she thinks that she's to blame .... Hey God Tell me what the hell is goin' on It seems like all the good shit's gone It keeps on gettin' harder hangin' on But hey hey hey hey God There's nights you know I want to scream These days you're even harder to believe I know how busy you must be But hey hey hey hey God Do you ever think about me" 🔥❤️👍💯💞👌
