This was July 2nd, 1987 at the Pacific Coliseum. It was an epic night and now looking back 36 years, being a teen in the 1980s was the best. What a time to be alive.

Adoro esta banda. Ele agora na terceira idade é só respeito. Sucesso e agito no palco só até o ano 2000. Depois deste ano só saudades. Mas, tudo de bom pra Bon Jovi e nova formação. I love this band. He is now in his third age and is all about respect. Success and excitement on stage only until the year 2000. After this year I just miss it. But, all the best to Bon Jovi and the new lineup. Sudações do Brasil. Sweats from Brazil.
This tour was my first concert. Des Moines, Iowa, outside, a month before this show. Pretty much the same set list, except Sambora did "Drift Away" instead of the oldies they do here. Was supposed to be The Smithereens, Cinderella, and Bon Jovi. Smithereens no-showed. I was 19 and this concert was a birthday present. Awesome.
Managed to be at Donington Monsters Of Roc 1987 mainly for Metallic and Dio but Jovi were ok ..Anyone attended must of had a time of their lives. i got to mtt Metallica and got my stuff signed and my merch sheet traded or the best time of my life
Man... now that i watch this show, i understand how he blew the hell up his voice... despite of that, he still managed to make another great records in the time ahead. Now it's a shame how he can barely sing his old hits
He had no idea how to take care of his voice. Later he would get a vocal therapist but even that didn't help much with the amount of touring they did 😔 they had to shoot him up with steroids before each show, poor guys.
Ó! WHAT DO I HEAR WHAT DO I SEE ? It's been a long time. But it's good to see what I was listening to then.Yes the transcendence was overwhelming.I love it!❤❤❤
I'm so sad to not have experienced the 80's (born in '92).. This is just amazing. You can now see that Richie is the foundation of this band in regards to the voice of the band. Without him this tour would not have finished. Just sad that Jon has never really taken care of his voice.
I'd still rather this damaged voice (where he at least attempts to sing like he did in the studio recording the songs) than the whiny-straining-nasal pathetic embarrassment that he is now.
On the chorus's of Livin' On a Prayer tracks are being used. The vocals were 100% fake, sounded like Richie and David sang over the track at times, but Jon completely lip synced it. I mean it is so obvious, all the voices sound instantly different.
Poor jon,his voice was shot on this tour,he was getting steriod injections to finish the tour,to much energy ,trying to give his all took its toll ,olus running around like a mad man .
I'm 41 minutes into this and while the performance is exhilarating I'm surprised that they're already ignoring the first two albums this early into their stardom. I didn't get to see the SWW tour but I thought they would've balanced the set more with songs from all three albums. So far they've only played "Tokyo Road" I really like how they tricked us at the start of the show having David play the intro to "Let it Rock" and then ripping into "Raise Your Hands" Surprises are always nice.
This concert is awesome ❤ The beginning of this concert was soooo awesome and great because David did the intro of let it rock and David look incredibly sexy ,and hot ❤💋( Baby ❤Love) . I judt love how david long hair with the blonde highlights. I love david outfit. @@stephenj1118 I do enjoy it, but Jon sometimes forgot that he was part of an amazing band. It is hardly toxic, it just sounded out of place, especially after the opening keyboard solo and the guitar solo in Raise Your Hands.
@@michaelnelson8510 oh for fuck sake no, he did not. He was being a front man. Take the Jon Hate Train elsewhere. It has long run out of steam in the past 33 years.
@@michaelnelson8510 He was being a coy smartarse as usual. That is his style. He was not saying "you are making noise only for JBJ! These other fools don't exist!" Seriously, it is context! That is JON!
I saw this tour in 86 in Huntsville, Al. It was electric, but the vocals were awful! JBJ sounded like a WWF Wrestler when he talked. Was a fun experience in my Senior year.
@@brandonvandelden7972 lmao of course there's something wrong with his technique. Until 1988 he didn't sing with correct technique. He used to hit the notes by screaming, that's why most of the gigs he sounded kinda sloppy; if you don't sing correctly, you'll sound sloppy. After 1988 he learned how to sing with correct technique and correct rasp, but became too nasal in the years that followed and ultimately lost his voice completely- nowadays Jon Bon Jovi.
Of course too much touring was also part of the reason he lost his voice. If you scream and tour too much, your voice will get tired early on the tour and if you keep abusing it while it is tired, you'll eventually destroy it completely.
I loved Jon's voice before someone taught him how to not destroy his vocal chords. After 1989 his voice is super lame.. But, yeah 1:16:22 someone is definitely strangling a poodle
His voice was fucking AWESOME in the NJ era!! Wow, someone taught him to SAVE his vocal chords for a few decades. What an idiot!!! His voice was amazing for These Days and Destination Anywhere and everything after. Sure it may not have that gravelly power from the 80's but it is still fine for what it is. Do you KNOW what pain and suffering the man went through on the Slippery tour?! Such a stupid comment. It was fucked more in 88-90 because of their greedy piece of shit manager.
You ought to hear him in 2022… 🤣 He’s like 100,000x better here than he is now. On the current tour he’s worse than an out of key drunk karaoke singer & I’m in no way being too critical… 🤦🏼♂️
You're right about the heavy touring They toured probably 9 months for the first album Another 6-7 months for the 2nd and then when Slippery hit the management just kept booking more shows to capitalize on it because you never really know how long your fame will last. Look at Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister
What a shit crowd... and poor Jon's voice!! Almost as bad as the Sydney show I watched on here because I was "too young to go" at the time....grrrr. nothing was stopping me in 89!
He is. Awful. Jon is a lot better. If you judge a singer by one VHS dolby recorded video from 30 years ago near the end of a year long tour you're an idiot. Watch them live in london 1995 to see a proper Bon Jovi show.
Did anyone see the last song? It was terrible to watch, it was possible to see how much effort he was making, and that he was actually damaging his voice. How the hell no one came to him, to teach him how to sing correctly. Worst performance of my favorite song from him... Now I understand how he completely lost his voice.
Yeah you really got a wonder. Did those business people around him just not care, keep the shows (money) coming & get all you can while you can and so what if this guy burns out, we will move on to the next long hair pretty boy 57:30
@@angryagain3801 You have a point. But couldn't he refuse to do so many shows in a short period of time? After all, it's his voice, his work instrument that was being damaged. And I dont't know if this can be an ultimate cause for him losing his voice. See, Bruce Dickingson from Iron Maiden, did many concerts as well when they were touring. And he can sing pretty well nowadays. I guess he's starting to lose his voice now, after The Book Of Souls.
@@Thalys756 depends upon the contract he signed Or maybe he wasn't thinking long term effects and was caught up in the sudden stardom thrust upon them in 1986.
It’s 1987.....sounded good on the floor at this show..... met Bon Jovi at a jam at The Embassy on Davie with Ritchie Sambora, one of the songs they played.....Breakdown -Tom Petty
Even back in 1987 hair bands were using recorded vocals. Listen to Livin on a Prayer. The chorus is absolutely straight from the record. Next tour, the New Jersey Tour, they started playing the song differently and, while not exactly like the recorded version, they were actually singing and it sounded awesome. It's no wonder Jon has lost his voice for good in 2023. Listen to this show. He's hoarse throughout. Subsequent tours, we took vocal lessons and sang much better and his voice held out much longer.
Notice Tico has headphones on for that song? He had to play to a click so they’re all right on for those canned vocals to sync with the rest of the band. Certainly not Mili Vanilli but not the real thing by any stretch. He figured it out by the next tour though. They rearranged some of the songs and he sounded great for years. Right up until about the time he started smoking and age caught up.
