Brian has a more overcharged voice (distorted,if you will) rather than Bon. So i'll give this point to Brian, just because... his voice is more rugged (more likely for Rock music), while Bon, on the other hand, his voice is a little smoother. I'm not saying Bon sucks, but i prefere Brian.

Bon laid the foundations for AC/DC and Brian built upon them. Both fantastic frontmen but the Bon era had the better songs in my opinion. Back In Black was Beanos pinnacle and was impossible to follow up but that's not to say there ain't a few gems to be found on the rest of his albums. Brian era DC is what I grew up with so he's my no.1 guy but how lucky have AC/DC been to be blessed with 2 of the best singers in rock history.

It’s not a matter of who’s better, it’s a style difference. Bon Scott had a brighter voice and did more quirkier things vocally. And while Brian had a similar voice, his was darker and more straight ahead.

One great album, Back in Black (most of which was written while Bon was alive) And a few good songs scattered here and there does not make the Brian era better than Bon. How many classic AC/DC songs are there with Brian that are not on Back In Black? For Those About To Rock ? Thunderstruck? Come on...Bon wins, hands down!

Every Bon Scott record is legendary. Brian Johnson only has a few good ones that can compare to Bon’s.

Bon scott wrote some of the back in black album, it just wasnt credited to him. Bons notebook of lyrics went missing after he died. The band pretended to be devastated, but back in black came out only 3 months later. The young brothers are ruthless businessmen, bon and Brian are just employees.

Both are equally legends for the time. It was an unfortunate event to lose Bon, but a remarkable recovery for the band to get Brian.

Bon was the piece of the puzzle that allowed them to achieve such fame. His gritty voice and pirate attitude made AC/DC was it is. When Bon died, Brian was the clear choice. He may not have had the same approach as Bon, but he undoubtedly matched his presence. I doubt they could have found a better replacement.

There is a reason the most rabid AC/DC fans prefer Bon Scott. He was a great singer. Listen carefully and you'll hear the genius of Scott, there are many qualities that Scott had that Johnson didn't have. Plus Scott was a better lyric writer. And I disagree with the statement that Johnson had a better range, I think it just used it more.

Bon really had a vibe of AC DC. Crazy , unexpected , sharp like a electric. AC DC with bon had an image of crazy talented don't give a shit boys vibe. But with Brian, I honestly feel like Brian is the one keep the band famous. Brain can gather all the generations bcoz of his adaptable voice. Bon has unique voice some ppl will not like to listen ...but Brian voice has the best tone for live concerts. Bon sang for himself when Brian sing for audiences (he put all his energy and mood in every concerts. ).If I would rate for live quality, I definitely rate Brian. He is more than a singer. Another talent of Brian is his voice, style stayed all together with the energy rest of band members.in this place, bon kinda had a unique singing style sometimes it seems like he singing alone and band playing itself it's like they are not performing together .but Thanks to bon and all original members who created the band and appreciate to all new members who never fail their duty, always gave the full and absolute energy to audiences.

Bon and Angus both had such a force along with the rest of the band, Brian was good but Brian never impacted me nearly as much as Bon. I bow to both but Bon has always been my number one with such an amazing character of voice and his skills with lyrics.

Bon Scott is THE definitive hard rock front man. Bigger range does not necessarily mean better singer, especially for rock and roll. You gotta have personality in your voice, too. Someone that is unique and instantly recognizable! Brian has a pair of Aces with range and power, but Bon had a Full House. You could say he's got it all!

AC/DC was extremely fortunate to have both!! Bon was clever and funny and had swagger where Brian was THE quintessential Rock Singer! Power grit and guts!!

Hard for me to give a fair comparison, because the AC/DC I knew best, the one I saw live, was Brian Johnson era. He will always be AC/DC to me.

Bon Scott you can make the argument is the greatest front man of all time, but for me the voice of AC/DC is Brian Johnson. Mainly because he was in the band 10 times longer. Both once in a lifetime performers. Bon usually gets the vote for this, because he has almost become this mythical figure. If it was reversed and we had all of Brian’s hits first and he was only in the band for 6 years, dies a young man and Bon was the following act. I think Brian would be thought of as the legendary front man and people would probably be shitting on Bon.

Bon Scott actually chose Brian Johnson after seeing him in a performance in Geordie. He told the Lads in the band if anything should happen to him or if he had to leave for any reason Brian was the man to replace him, I've always found this story incredibly strange because it was just a few weeks before he died! Having seen both of them I really can't choose and I think both were equally as good for the particular eras of the Band at the time. However Bons lyrics were Brilliant and funny but that's all I can really say I can recall loving both shows. Its a hard one

For any purists, all you have to do is listen to Night Prowler. Case closed. I could go on and on as to why Bon is not only better, but the best ever. It's not even subjective imo. With Bon's help had he not passed, the greatest rock band of all time would have made every single album legendary.

I enjoy both. They feel like two separate bands to me. Each with their own flavor.

Definitively Bon Scott who was living each word of the lyrics he sung... Brian Johnson's the singer I saw on stage in the 90's so I like him too... Specialy on "you shook me all night long" or "rock'n'roll ain't noise pollution"... Like 1 or 2 modern songs. But Bon is The AC/DC vocal leader forever. Once you've eard him on "the Jack" (dirty lyrics of course),"ride on" or "whole Lotta Rosie" you know what rock'n'roll is about !

If it wasn't for Bon Scott,Brian Johnson wouldn't even be around and never been heard of. Bon Scott was an excellent vocalist and superb lyricist. Brian Johnson was a great replacement is vocals gave the band a new sound and carried on the torch for their legacy to some of the best Rock&Roll masters.

Bon Scott all the way. Absolute respect for Brian Johnson, but I have to admit I don't listen to, or enjoy, anywhere near as much AC/DC post Bon Scott as I did when he was still with us. I was a kid in 1970's Australia as well, so Bon Scott on lead vocals was just what I knew and grew up with.
