Philly Dogs Mazzara had a spot around 1990 on 14 Ave. & 65 st. Bklyn. Directly across from Top Tomato & from Marco Aurelio Calabrian Club. Where the Nick Ciccia murder happened. His place was Gran Paradiso. A gelateria in front and a card room in back. I wonder what ever happened to it. It was there a couple years. During the Colombo war there was a car chase and shots fired at each other while both cars were moving. It was the Colombo hunters trynna kill the other team. Crazy times back in Dyker Heights then.
Another Great Story Jimmy. The Bath Av Stories really touch me . I remember when all of this was going on with Mikey G my uncle saying “Look at This, Italians shooting Italians, everyone is laughing at us. Thinking about it now, he was right 100%. Thx for Sharing This. God Bless Always 🙏🏻🇮🇹
Jimmy, only you could end up in fight with a group of "wise guys". I thought I heard it all when you and your friend started a fight with Rikers Prison guards over "waxen asses", hilarious!!! Jimmy, you never cease to amaze with your stories, sometimes to short because I always want to hear more.
I'm glad you're mentioning this isn't the life for anyone. I'm afraid the cartel is a different story. I've mentioned this on other channels about my experience with a young boy my age, who lost his dad to a mob hit back in the 70's. I grew up in a sparsely populated, open frontier part of my state. I'm not sure we had any Italian families in my community, but I did date an Italian guy in high school. He was there attending a private high school in my area so he came from somewhere else. Anyway, my family and I would travel about 5 hrs east of my community to visit my cousins who lived in a metro area, with an Italian presence. Unfortunately, the mob was also present, but I knew nothing about them until visiting my cousins. They babysat for a boy about my age, probably around 9 yrs old. He was their neighbor and often stayed the weekend with my cousins. This is when I learned about the mob because I was told this boy's dad was shot to death downtown. I later found out he was stuffed in a trunk. It bothered me for years because I was so close to my parents that I couldn't imagine losing one of them to such brutality. The first mafia book I read about, was the Bonanos. I guess because of my early experience on the other side of things, seeing a little by without his dad, I've been interested off and on about the mafia. I don't understand the mafia, especially murdering, so I'm trying to figure out why. I couldn't live with myself if I harmed anyone, the guilt would eat me alive. I think many of you reformed mobsters have a lot to offer in lessons you've had to learn the hard way. I by no means condone any of it, but I'm not perfect and believe God allows us to grace and redemption.
I’m very familiar with this story they both got heated and they both had to get a humble pie to make it go to rest PhillyDogs is a Tremendously Serious Man and He Is The Type of Man That Would Be Upset Over a Spot By The Bar lol Bye the way Philly and a few others were The Owners of The Brown Derby Club. They Were A Tremendous Help To My Uncle Johnny and The Brooklyn Bridge Group in The Late 70s and 80s When Most Singers and Their Group Stuggled To Stay Working. My Uncle Always Had A Very Big Respect For Them And They Were Very Good To Them Figured I Give You Some FYI from back in The Early Days of The Brown Derby. In A Way Phillie Was Very Much Similar To Your Friend Pauline G
That was a memorable moment. Especially when I had to explain to Anthony Spero that joe didn’t throw the first punch. Which in all honesty everything happened so fast.
What happened with Carmine Galante's grandson at that place in Bay Ridge. I think it was the same building as the Derby under a new name. Anyway, who the other person that he killed and why?
No that was the tiki bar on fort Hamilton parkway across from La tavola . He killed a college kid over a beef galantes friend had with the kid over a girl and stabbed him. I’m pretty sure galante is folding laundry in Attica and getting his stool pushed in .
@@MrOtis07 I am drawing a blank....where was the brown derby? You were right about the tiki bar on 92nd street. I lived a block away on Gelston, I just can't remember the names and places sometimes. Especially going back 25 years
It sounds childish to. Go and discuss with a patriarca from each family about a fist fight. They Should ve just said, we both gonna get in trouble for this and make leave right there, with other wise guys present and thats it. But hey those are the rules to abide.
You had me salivating with the cutlets. Breaded fried in rosemary olive oil maybe ? Holy shit ! I'm thinking hot peppers, long hots, a little broccoli rabe on the right bread. Oh shit ! Great story. I tune in from time to time. Every now and then you talk about food. You make me nuts ! If it was me !!! You'd have 2 chicken cutlets that day.
