Wonderful footage/video, sorry to hear about the casualties that occurred regarding this incident, and condolences sent to those who lost their lives. I certainly can only anticipate and hope the fortunates and positives that the incidents could diminish as much as they arise for, but anticipate you had an enjoyable time in the makings of this video, and hoping much you had a great time in the makings of all the previous contents as a foremost general. For being routinely and daily, certainly look forward to more amazing contents in the upcoming’s, for as inevitably keep up the great works, and always pursue for your bests, as it just results to improve all drastically and evermore better by every-days, and routinely so! Keep up the best potential and your amazing works coming. 😉👍💯✈️🔥

I read the report - looks like possibly lost his engine, failed to establish best glide speed (110 kias) and tried to force it to a landing zone he could not reach and stalled just before getting there as he tried to bank right to line up with the small parking lot on very short final and very slow speed. If in the last few seconds he had decided to ditch straight ahead instead of trying to turn to the parking lot, he might have made it.

Thanks for that insight. I’m not a pilot but I was thinking engine trouble based on the speed dropping but then I was confused why the witnesses they talked to never described any of the sound they heard. I was also wondering if it wouldn’t have been best to try to lay it down on the water

@@aviatealabama Ditcthing in water can be tricky, but a retract like the Bonanza can do it a lot better than a fixed gear aircraft. I fly this same type of aircraft. I think he initially decided to go for the golf course that was a little east of where he went in. But not sticking to 110 knots right away was a big mistake. Not sure if he would have made it, but probably no harm in trying, knowing you can change your plan and ditch at almost any point along the way if it looks like you won't make the distance. Holding the nose up to try to glide further and bleeding off airspeed only made his problem worse, and instead of deciding to ditch, deciding to try to make the parking lot was, I think, a big mistake. But - I was not there. I've never been in this situation. It is A LOT easier to Monday Morning quarterback this than it is to handle it correctly in the moment. So I do not want to criticize too harshly - he was in a very tough spot.

@aviatealabama i was on the lake when this happened, cruising around when Hall County Sheriff's Office Lake Patrol came hauling ass to my starboard side max throttles lights and sirens. found out from a friend who has a home just outside of Lanier Islands he was startled by a massive BOOM, he jumped out of his recliner only to see nothing but fire and a smoke shroom cloud. He and several neighbors were among the first callers to Hall Dispatch.

Man I couldn’t imagine. It shakes me just seeing him and the plane in this video. I don’t think I would ever be able to get over seeing the aftermath in person.

On December 21, Howard Lee Joe (pilot) was killed when the Bonanza crashed into a parking lot at Lake Lanier Islands Resort about 14 minutes after departing the Peachtree/DeKalb airport (KPDK). Only a preliminary report has been issued so far.

This airplane was involved in a fatal accident in December of 2023. This was filmed in May. I am not implying that the crash was filmed I am showing a video of a plane departing the same airport with the same pilot that was later killed in a crash.

@@aviatealabama Then say that in the title, not some misleading click-bait garbage. I believe you know English, then use that skill to treat your viewers with respect.

It certainly wasn’t an attempt at clickbait. Although I do know English I don’t consider myself to be a wordsmith by any means. The airplane I filmed is a bonanza, it was involved in a catastrophic accident and it did depart KPDK. Yes, I could just say Bonanza departs KPDK but I feel like the context that this plane and pilot is no longer with us is what separates this video from a traditional planespotting video which is why I didn’t use a generic title. It’s not as if I titled it seconds from disaster bonanza takes off. Anyways, I do appreciate your feedback.
