Bonanza - Episode 99 - The Mountain Girl - Joe is entrusted to see that Grandpa Coomb's deathbed wish is carried out. That his granddaughter is returned to the people she never knew -- the high society Harkers.
The Mountain Girl
Director: Don McDougall
Writer: John Furia (as John Furia Jr.)
Stars: Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker
Genre: Western
Country: USA
Language: English
Release Date: 13 May 1962 USA
Filming Locations: Stage 17, Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA
Storyline:
The title character in the May 13, 1962 Bonanza episode "The Mountain Girl" is Trudy Harker, played by Nina Shipman. Raised in the hills by her reclusive grandfather Seth (Will Wright), Trudy is left in Joe Cartwright's care when Seth dies. Honoring a promise to the girl's late grandfather, Joe is determined to transform the hoydenish Trudy into a "lady", so that she can move into the San Francisco mansion of her other grandfather, wealthy Josiah Harker. Written on rottentomatoes.com
Reviews:
"Michael Landon finds a dying Will Wright on the trail and brings him back to Wright's home in the high country where he's a sheepherder. He exacts a promise from Landon to take his granddaughter to her rich other grandfather out in San Francisco.
It turns out to be a major undertaking as all the Cartwrights pitch in to help Little Joe turn this mountain Eliza Doolittle into a lady.
Nina Shipman steals this episode with her portrayal of the shepherd's granddaughter who discovers she's the closest thing we Americans have to princesses. Good performances from Carl Benton Reid as the other grandfather and Warren Oates as the shepherd who was courting Shipman before learning of her wealth.
A frontier My Fair Lady." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com

Even though she was born and raised in the mountains, Trudy just warmed my heart when that poor little lamb was hurt and she tenderly bandaged the wound up. ❤❤❤. Great stories like Bonanza are not only educational but also inspirational, because I think that Human kindness and love should not be overtaken by greed and hatred. #PeaceLoveandRespect+Unity=Prosperity. It's just a simple mathematic.

I have nearly been binge watching this wonderful series. Pernell Roberts is one of the best actors ever in the craft or entertainment. I think much of his performances is simply Mr. Roberts own self...he steals and shines in every scene he is in. I read most women love him and many men would not mind appearing ass Pernell Roberts. His silent acting at the supper table was superb.

What I liked about this show in its early years is that it was a great training ground--like The Twilight Zone--in giving young actors/actresses a chance to show off what they could do. The main cast--Lorne Greene was already established as an actor. But the guest stars...here, Warren Oates, who later took crazy to new levels, Charles Bronson, Barry Sullivan (already a well-known actor) Lee Marvin, Tim Matheson, DeForest Kelly (semi-established at that time), Leonard Nimoy, and many more, this was one of their many acting jobs before they went on to bigger things.
@yaimavol
@yaimavol 3 года назад
That was by design. None of the stars were known. They wanted to draw an audience with famous guest stars, and many times they were paid more than the cast per episode.

The actor who plays the grandfather was the same actor who played in one of the most mysterious and haunting shows ever shown on TV. in an episode of One Step Beyond, in which he channeled a demon named Roger. The episode will chill you to your bones
