We were the first in our in the sticks neighborhood to get color tv. First night our living room filled up unexpectedly with people mostly women to watch Bonanza in color. They brought cookies and giggled at Lil Joes eyes. I giggled at the cookies.
I watch this show years ago, But I never seen this scene before, great show. Michael Landon was a handsome Man, he had the most gorgeous eyes. Hoss was my favorite too.
Ben Cartwright is how EVERY Father should be with his son(s). Wise and guiding. Even if he's not correct in his advice, he gives it with Authority, love, and his best interest at heart.
🤷♀️Hey Shannon Roylance of course i know nothing of Michael Landon irl but between this show, LHOTP AND Highway 🛣 to Heaven i always considered him the *_PERFECT_* *_(GORGEOUS!) MAN_* 😉😬💋

They never existed. Mankind has done horrendous things to each other since the day they were created. That's why I love watching these fairytales. If only they were real. Love Bonanza.
They are completely gone with the wind. Men back then stayed with their families whether or not they were rich, they worked hard and care for their kids. They had morals and lived by it wrong or right. They handed it down but it got lost along the generations and the only thing that remains are the things that should be lost.
Little Joe at his mother's grave. He told his father Ben and his older brothers Adam and Hoss Cartwright he just wanted to be alone. And what Little Joe meant about wanting to be left alone for a while meaning he went to visit his mother's grave. His way of missing his mother and to be close to her.
Wow. Just Wow. There were really times when politics was about the character of the candidate. Where issues were discussed and not every word degrading the political opponent.
@@bobsaturday4273 - You know most people in the world know multiple languages, except us. We Americans are the ones who refuse to learn other languages, not everyone.
I love Joe in that outfit, brings out his beautiful color eyes and hair, he's so beautiful! He's just so hot headed though, he should of stayed there that way LaDuc would not have been able to hide that man's gun
The Adam character should have stayed on the show. He was the voice of reason. And good-looking. Is there an episode where Joe isn't threatening to, attempting to, or literally killing someone? How is he embarrassed by his mother's past?
So unfortunate that the Ponderosa Ranch was sold just to build a 18,000 square foot mansion and close down the theme park. I had a thought that could have brought in a lucrative amount of money into the Lake Tahoe region. They could have placed a Ponderosa Themed Restaurant and Casino on the Nevada side that promoted tourism and drove tourists to the park. They could have allowed for independent filmmakers like myself to film on the property as well as mainstream television and film production companies. They should have started a studio lot there as well. What they threw away was the ability to have a Hollywood major staple in filmmaking that was not just limited to Westerns but other types of films as well. Ultimately creating a market that would generate millions of dollars annually. However all is not lost if they can use the General Area on a new property with enough land to facilitate. They could even move forward in time with Bonanza in the modern day at present and film the defendants of the Characters depicted in the long running series. #DanShrigley
owning The Ponderosa and being governor is just a little too much for those high and mighty Cartwrights. So, Ben's wild and crazy days in New Orleans comes back to haunt him.
Lorne Greene ( 6" 2' )was a Shakespearean /dramatic actor from Canada who developed that baritone , Hoss was an even bigger man and the other sons were average
@@lynettepalecek3141 Season 1 is confirmed by 1) video title itself and 2) Wiki page on all Bonanza seasons and episodes. Season 1, Episode 24 (titled "The Stranger") is described as follows: "The vengeful police inspector LeDuque (Lloyd Nolan) from New Orleans jeopardizes Ben's bid for the governorship over a twenty year murder." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bonanza_episodes#Season_1_(1959%E2%80%9360)
@@jcspider7259 First off, the title is wrong, and second off, Wikipedia is wrong. I told you that Wikipedia is wrong about when "Bonanza" was broadcast. Wikipedia is wrong many times about a lot of shows and a lot of celebrities. You're a fool for believing everything that Wikipedia says as being the truth. 🤣🤣
Audio troubles, mid-way, cuts in and out, like a warbling bird. It's not the device, as there's no other trouble on any other video. It began just as Joe left the newspaper ofc to head to the hotel. This channel, PizzaFlix, has had this same audio trouble on every Bonanza episode I've seen here.
The show wanted to be historically correct. There was no train tracks in Nevada that could get them back to the eastern US for another ten years or so.
@@Tayohni They're not correct with the guns. The pistols in the 1860's were cap an ball. The Colt SAA that uses brass cartridges came in 1875. But they likely figured that it would make the gun fights more cumbersome.
@83rdox The show was set a hundred years earlier than it was made, so 1959, when the show began, they were attempting to portray 1859, and in 1960, they were attempting to portray 1860, and so on, not to the letter, but that was the general gist of their timeline. There were events that were out of sync, that in history didn't occur until later, or were purely fiction. The show wasn't perfect, and neither were the props. I don't think they intended that we would be watching it with a critical eye. The series ran from 1959 through 1973, so that equated to 1859 through 1873.
Ellen Cole I think it's at the 6 season, he believed he was being held back from becoming a bigger star, greater movies. Anyway he was difficult to work with, complaint about his lines, it turned out to be a mutual agreement. He served as a marine, and was university educated, he did have a successful career but not as big as he believed he was capable. I hope this is helpful.
There's a vid on RU-vid with an interview from the director/producer. Pretty much he thought the show was beneath him. And the story lines weren't good enough etc. I'm sure age and wisdom grew him out of that type of attitude, they were all still young. According to later interviews Pernell said he didn't regret the decision. Ironically, if he'd stuck around he probably would've had a chance like ML to make the kind of episodes he wanted. ML learned dramatic acting, script writing and directing all on Bonanza and went on to produce his own shows. ML made some rl mistakes but none of us are perfect. We just have the chance to live our mistakes in the shadows rather than in the limelight.
@Jimbo Dunn You're welcome! LOL, I always wanted an older brother. But I have to agree, I never quite liked Adam. He always came off as snobby to me. Maybe it's the "big brother" thing. ROFL
@Jimbo Dunn Aww, that's the thing with this and The Rifleman, they're more than Westerns. Bonanza, especially as the years passed, dealt with some serious issues. But my true delight is the genuine relationship between Dan Blocker and Michael Landon, it makes Little Joe and Big Hoss so much more enjoyable. I think their love for each other in RL carried over into the show. I think that's what made the show last as long as it did. Enjoy these oldies Jimbo!
Ellen Cole He didn’t think a college graduate would call his father Paw and being an architect it was wasted on the ranch. He was written out as he went back east to pursue his degree. Also hated wearing a toupe. He was in another series as well.

I can't quite tell if you are joking or serious. In case you are serious, I think the inference was that she was a prostitute, nothing more. If you are joking, HaHa. I like the dramatic delivery.

Laurie Davis..Hi..did you read my post at the bottom of the page. I may be wrong, but if you want to find out, watch the episode, Marie My Love, I think its season 3 or 4..someone will tell me. I watch the episodes in order.
Well he did just get back from the future nevada governor party and then rushed str8 into town to see the inspector when he got back without, i assume, taking the time to wash up. By the time he made it to the scene youre referring to he would have been dusty and tired. Now whether this accts for the makeup job or not i dont know but ....
@@strangelyfamiliar1729 Storyline doesn't equal cosmetics. Often, they don't or didn't film the scenes in sequence, but as convenience suited the director. So what comes before in the storyline, was not necessarily before in the filming. Each scene has its own appearance-needs and its own cosmetics > it was cosmetics applied by the makeup artist.
You'd think after however long Ben and his Boys lived at the Ponderosa and Virginia City, that Joe would know his Dad can handle whoever or whatever comes for them, and quit trying to snuff out a threat as soon as it shows its nasty hide!!! He gets punched and knocked out in about every episode! Lmao!!!
You could be james bond Ben cartwright and you could be m the MI6 Lloyd Nalon and after Bonanza comes james bond and hoss/little joe/Adam and Ben cartwright and Charles luduke and captain Bolton and Captain 🦈 and Sean Connery and George Lazenby and Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton and pierce Brosnan and denial Craig and Darth Vader and Batman and Mr incredible and Chazz palminteri and Bernard Lee and Love your comment's and I wanna say thank you and I can watch Bonanza and James bond all day and everyday and forever
how did they come up with this bizarre twisted story ? a bad cop waits 20 years to attempt an arrest after an event which supposedly resulted in cartrite being cleared anyway but right when hes running for governor , sure . not too believable but in the true melodramatic "horse opera " style of the series . how many times have these guys been framed for murder , sometimes 1 or 2 , like this one , sometimes all 4 of em !
This is what i mean about little joe fiery with anger and quit temper out of control and go get straight into trouble only little joe does this and ben and brothers can not even speak of telling him anything because he's the smart one but the least one to use brains
This isn't the first season. The first season ran from September 1958- May 1959. The second season ran from September 1959- May 1960. RU-vid, Google, and Wikipedia need to correct their errors that they keep making.
thats the only nauseatingly goofy thing you've ever noticed on this series ? it was purposely written and directed to be a "horse opera" soapy western melodrama . hows bout the part where l'il joe shoots the tough guy and the creep says he'll drag his moms name thru the mud , so the best thing to do is for joe to run away so he can be framed for murder , make any sense ? BARF !
Today I'm gonna draw my characters to make paper dolls and characters are gonna be Ben/Hoss/Adam and Little Joe Cartwrights and Mr Ridley and Charles Luduke and Captain Bolton and Captain 🦈and James Bond Sean Connery and George Lazenby and Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan and Denial Craig and Jaws and Christopher Lee and Q and M and Miranda Frost and Gerald Eskith and Graves and John Cleese and Batman and Darth Vader and Chazz Palminteri and Mr Incredible and Scorpion and Johnny Cage and Lincoln clay and that's my characters I gonna draw OK guy's let me know down in the comments down below tks guy's
You know sometime I think y did they make little Joe like that, so hot tempered and pompous I don't like to see him that way that's y like Adam Cartwright and hoss so much
I will never grasp why this series went on as long as it did. Adam Cartwright was the star, the intelligent, wise, finest actor in that craft...Hos played several good lead man roles and all of Adams were great. However Ben and the hot tempered, emotionally off the beam Little joe is ust too much to watch. Little skinny crazy loon, entireley immature, ruined the series by explosions of needless temper that all his family never tried to correct, or he giggled like a 3-year-old, found a petty girl to kiss and wanted to marry instantly...schizophinic or bi-polar. Our culture, very low on the scale loved it and never saw the whole story, the ridiculous of it...3 sons still 13 years old when 25-40 years of age, getting permission to or from Paw to blow their noses. Once a wekk Ben and the Little son has big temper tantrums, the next scene is Ben treating all like little kids and hugging Hoss & the youngest one...crazy stuff that Pernell tossed the upcoming wealth away because his nerves were getting shattered.
I usually like Bonanza, but this was so overdone as to be ludicrous. Writers, director and actors all overdid it on this one, especially Landon. In every other episode of Bonanza if little Joe had gotten up in Ben's face like that Ben and likely Hoss and Adam would have hogtied him. And slapped him till he got hold of himself. Sad, sad episode. The worst Bonanza ever, and there have been some dogs. Few, but they exist. This leads the pack.
Tom Swinburn ......It had to do with his mother.......So obviously Ben understood exactly what little Joe felt....Adam and Hoss also understood they are older and have different mothers..........So really? You're saying it's overdone?....I mean Adam and Hoss would not have liked anyone saying bad stuff about their moms and Little Joe being the youngest and most hotheaded they ALL understand why he got in Ben's face...
i agree. this series was very uneven. the episodes were inconsistent with their personalities and even what year it is. it seems to span from the 1850s to the 1880s, but not in chronological order. and the "comedic" episodes are particularly atrocious. even ben's toupee' is inconsistent in both color and size. this particular episode is about average. there are lots worse than this one,
I never thought much about each episode in terms of real-ness or believe-ability, just the chemistry (or lack of) between the characters. There will be the occasional flops but this one is not the best for sure. I think Ben dragging Le Duc over 20 miles in the hot sun just would not have been surviveable even after 3 miles.
🤷♀️Yes Nicholas Halsey i heartily agree with _”easy to be a critic”_ ... Geez! Ppl being soo technical about every different aspect of the show (what yr was it, how hot 🥵 was it that yr etc) LOL! It just _ruins_ 🙄 the entertainment value for me! That’s why *_i_* watch(for enjoyment). i picture these picky ppl sitting down with glasses at the end of their noses and a farmers almanac, pen and notebook 📓 handy to assist in their silly _”fact checking!”_ 📊📈📉 i just wanna have fun watching a great old program, ya know?? 😉💋
