Thanks so much for the video. I need help with my Bond Elite. What is happening is when I bring needles forward and put over the plastic weight hem then the elastic then fold the plastic sheet back over, it brings the needles' buts on bed raised. Therefore the carriage wont pass over. I tried to cast without the plastic weight hem. As soon the keyplate is in the carriage the needles jam. Also tried to cast manually but needles jam. It's a charity shop find with all parts including a ribber. I'm not new to machine knitting. I used to have a Knittax. But I am at my wits ends. Help please,
Hi Alex - do you have any knowledge or information about the Elite's sponge strip? Am trying to offer useful suggestions to someone who can see the bits of deteriorated strip coming out of its channel, and wants to know how and with what she can replace it. I'm not familiar with the machine and can only suggest foam strip draught-excluder stuff, or maybe cut strips from those non-stick shelf liner thingamajigs ...
Hi there, the sponge retainer is under the machine, first, bring out all the needles to holding position and close the latches. Pull each needle back and up to remove it from the machine, repeat until all the needles are removed. Turn the bed over and remove all of the screws holding the back plate on. Once removed, take out the old sponge which will be sat in a gully. Clean out any dirt and replace the sponge... You can just buy one of the sponge bar replenishing kits off eBay, they are cheap enough and work adequately. With the back plate still removed and the new sponge in... With the bed still upside down, Insert the needles back into the machine by inserting them into their slots with their latches open, insert the needles at a sharp angle as to go over the sponge, press the head of the needle to press it into the sponge allowing it to slide home. It is fiddly but it can be done. Once all the needles are back in and the needle are ontop of the sponge correctly. Replace the back plate and screws and you are ready to go.
