I remember when membership was $4.99 a month we got more content and had no mtx man how the times have changed

Like mcdonalds, they have lost sight of what they are selling. 15 keys and 14 days of mem are not worth over 130m or $10.

I think they should have LOWERED the prices of bonds. Hear me out on this one. With how much bonds cost right now, lowering the price would cause more people to buy them right now to take advantage of the cost before it goes down. This would inject more bonds into the economy and lower the price in game. As you said lower leveled or free to play players can’t afford bonds at this price and while high level players can, it still sucks paying over 100m for a bond when they were 20-30m not too long ago. Making bonds cost more even if it’s only $1 could make somebody not want to buy them, or if somebody is buying them right now it would likely be to hold onto it for when the price rises more which is not putting that bond into circulation again causing the price to climb higher. Lower cost = more bonds sold = more money for jagex and lower prices for us.

Currently to buy membership in game via bonds is 3 BILLION for the year, this time last year it only cost 1.4B now THAT is Hyper inflation right there!!!!

I want to see a break down from the internal team as to why they need to increase the price of things every time they do. Tell me why you have to, not just say *economy*.

The real issue is that the playerbase is slowly declining and the revenue is likely not enough anymore to keep runescape up and running. Only real solution is to have Runescape 4.0, with better graphics and no lag and have as a result a resurgence of new players. But that requires commitment and investors as well.

100m+ for a bond, and now its likely going to go up to like 200m considering it costs more for people to bring them in.... I really don't think jagex are thinking

it has taken me 7 months to collect 20 bonds ingame. When I started they were like 50 to 60 M. But I won't be farming them for the next year of membership. I will either buy the membership or just stop playing entirely. Or get a lucky huge drop that makes me good gp, but I will not be counting on that.

Bloody hell. I'm sure glad I got a job now, where I can afford membership with cash. Nearly 10 years ago I first got membership with bonds, which lasted for 3 years. That sure sucks for people who're still using bond for membership.

I want to counter your "average player" I play as a very high level going for 120s mostly skiller who does some mid level boosing rarely with difficulty. Karapac normal is about as high end as I go with maybe normal nex here and there. 150m is a good month for me 15 days? No way on earth...

I feel bad for F2P I remember when these were like 20-30m (if I remember correctly) each and actually attainable for free players, it kind of forces peoples hand to pay for membership rather than going for bonds because that grind seems far to painful for new players

it takes 20 bonds to have premium ... the reason bonds jumped 20 mil in a day is because of the new content released happens every time if you follow it. DXP also pushes the bond prices up. The key to buying bonds is to NOT pay the listed price always post a buy order for less. You can get them for 100 mil to 120 mil takes time. Its like the stock market if you are buying at high levels you are buying at the wrong time. They are at sell prices. People in RS are the ones who move the market not the people buying the bonds to convert to gp. If people dont buy them at high prices than the price will drop. it really is that simple

One not necessarily negative effect of this change is that it increases the relative value of buying membership directly rather than buying bonds (with real or in game money).

Just putting this short note is kind of out of place imo. What made them to think its a good deal to do just for bonds? I mean ok, all companies set their own prices, but sudden change within single sector used for group of online users with rather short notice, would be just nice and respectful to give a little bit of background behind this business decision to the conmunity.

Still baffles me on the players that play in first world countries aren't getting premier for a quite considerable discount anyway... People will still buy them, just need bigger harpoons for them whales. There are many other ways for people to make money in game without high input these days... LOL

Imho bonds shd've never been added to the game... at least never for membership. Bonded labour, the ultimate cashgrab tactic of a lure. Even pro pkers would be bemused and marvelled by jagex's cunning tactical irl lure.

Bonds need to be purely a membership - GP item. Linking them to keys and other things is obliterating their prices. Some people PvM just to get big drops to sell for GP to buy bonds to cash in for TH keys to use lamps/stars on skills that they don't want to train. This ruins bonds big time. The price for membership in game shouldn't inflate this much> It's unwelcoming for new players, and starts to make current players question whether they keep playing. I think Jagex is going the wrong way about this. I actually think they would have benefited more from a price decrease. Or they should be doing better package deals. Not making it better to buy them individually.

Make sense, bonds are rising to nearly 140M and Jagex is not going to sell you 10 bonds for 1 dollar.

Feels bad for all the low to mid level players just trying to have fun :/ As a well-off player, bonds being so much isnt the BIGGEST deal, but over time my cash stack will surely dwindle unless i stay grinding for gp. Bonds skyrocketing forces low-mid level players to buy bonds with irl money because of not having access to decent money making methods

I think that Jagex as a whole, as far as RS3, are getting out of hand. How are those who are new to the game as well as those who scrimp and claw their way to a bond, ever able to afford membership now? I am not speaking for myself, I am speaking in regard to all of those who may be younger and/or don't have a job in order to pay for membership going that route. These types of people, if and when they get a bond, will most likely struggle enough just to keep their membership, let alone do anything that may deviate from that.

100% will still buy bonds, it's a steal lol. 10 bonds is well over a bil gp now so that's even more incentive for players like myself with not much time to grind out for bils in game. I've bought all the BiS gear for each combat style through bonds alone haha

i think this change is already in the bond price. The merchs 100% know that information long time ago, that explain why prices suddenly sky rocket from 70m to 150m. Maybe the price raise more and merchs gonna dump all the bond at market and the prices gonna fall, thats just my opinion, not the truth

bonds is why I play ironman. It's just a way to buy gold, it puts a dollar value to gp and once there is a dollar value to gp everything that can be listed on the GE can be converted to USD/GBP/EUR. It then becomes a task of calculating. If you want an expensive item, what is quicker? grinding the drop? or grinding the gold to buy it? The gold 99% of the time. And how long does it take to get the gold? if you earn £20/hour after tax overtime.. which is pretty average, that's about 400 mil/hour. The highest hourly gp is about 100m/hour and that's very end tier. Less than what minimum wage makes. So you'd go for real money overtime every single time rather than grind and earn it in game. Ironman eliminates this. An item is worth however long it takes you to get it. You get a sense of achievement when you upgrade. Ironman gives P2W the finger, and I only really get impressed by well geared irons. Normal accounts in expensive gear? nice credit card mate.

I'm a F2P player who pays for membership in game. I've never spent a cent on RS. It's definitely a bit harder now to keep it going, but basically every time I use a bond, the first few hours of game play for the 2 weeks is just grinding money making methods to buy the next bond, so that most of the time I have a backup bond saved. It's definitely made it harder to buy end game weapons like FSOA, but I can still do most end game content like HM Kera, Rax, Zuk, etc. Daily reapers gets you a guaranteed hydrix every 2 weeks too, so really you only need to make ~70-80m manually, and since a lot of methods pay 30-40m an hour, you can still pay for a bond in a like 3-4 hours of grinding + doing daily Reaper.

if you and all the major streamers keep labling bonds will go up...they will go up for merching. Dont encourage it. use titles that as bonds need to go down not up. promote the drop in them not that they are going up in your title

i would not be surprised to see 200m+ bonds in the near future. some really good money making methods out there, that can get even that sort of money together in 1 day , without bossing. that would still leave 13 days of free membership basically so not complaining

Maybe people shouldn't own computers or unnecessary technologies. Perhaps, instead of buying one of them dumb 1500 dollar iPhones, you put that money aside for... say... a few years worth of Runescape membership.
