Personally, I would’ve piled up some rocks in that pocket that was giving you trouble going up that you were discussing around the 15:55 mark of the video. The rest of the way up from there looked doable after that. But yeah, them tires need a upgrade. I’ll find out when I check your channel after I hit sub in a few seconds 👍

@HorsinAround
@HorsinAround 3 года назад
Thanks George! Of course the bone stock Base has its limitations, as we're finding out. But I hope our videos will also help folks realize that not everyone needs to shell out for a Badlands or the Sasquatch package, unless they just want to. But for the type of off-roading most folks will likely be doing, even the stock Base model, perhaps with some bigger tires at least, is still pretty capable.

I would have bought the Jeep JL for the solid front axle. But I am a Ford man...
@HorsinAround
@HorsinAround 3 года назад
Hey DUNE I was skeptical about the IFS too, early on. But I think Ford has done a better job implementing it than anybody else who has ever tried to make a true off-road worthy factory IFS system. While the JL's solid axle might be superior for 5% of the wheeling most people might do, the Bronco will be better for the other 95%. And for that 5%, I'm not so sure it won't make it it, it just might need more skill and commitment LOL. BTW I do also own a 2015 JK Rubicon and it's been a great rig but it's gotta go now :)
@DUNEATV
@DUNEATV 3 года назад
@@HorsinAround I have personally been stranded with an independent front suspension four-wheel-drive. I am a true Ford man through and through but I just cannot buy a dedicated four-wheel-drive vehicle with IFS. What are you gaining by getting an IFS? Have you driven a new Jeep JL 18-21? The ride is amazing and you get the strength of the solid axle.
@HorsinAround
@HorsinAround 3 года назад
@@DUNEATV yeah I've driven several JL's and they do ride nicer than the JK. But they're still like driving a covered wagon compared to this new Bronco. That said, I'm not here to change your mind, as you seem pretty set. That's cool, we can still wheel together. I might have to pick a better line through the biggest rocks but I'll bet I'll be able to follow you most places (after a few upgradss LOL)

How did the rear seater find things comfort wise? Enough AC back there? Leg room?
@HorsinAround
@HorsinAround 3 года назад
She said it was roomy and comfortable. Easier to get into and more comfortable than the back seat of a 2-door Wrangler. She also said the AC was great. Even though there are no vents to the back seat, that AC blows like a nor'easter and it's a relatively small space so it chills it nicely. The day we shot this video it was 106 degrees outside, cool as a cucumber inside, even in the back seat.

is this the full size Bronco?
@HorsinAround
@HorsinAround 3 года назад
Some people are calling it that but technically it's not. The 2021 Bronco is based on a "mid-size" platform, as it shares some of its basic frame with the Ranger, which is a mid-size pickup. Back in the day "Full Size Bronco" referred to the '78 through '96 Broncos which were built on the F150-sized chassis, which is a full-sized truck. So this would be more accurately called a mid-size. However, it's bigger than the little Bronco Sport which came out first, so some people are erroneously calling it the full size Bronco.

Those were not rocks. That is your ABS applying brakes to the wheel with less traction so the wheel with traction can apply it to the ground and keep you moving forward. It acts as locker but not as solid or strong.
@HorsinAround
@HorsinAround 3 года назад
Ben I understand how the traction control system works but I'm not sure what part of the video your lecture is directed at. Jay, in this video we did not. We couldn't afford even the slightest loss of ground clearance with the already tiny tires. If you look at our more recent videos after we upgraded to 35's you'll see that ground clearance was no longer much of an issue. But we still haven't been airing down simply because we haven't been hitting anything too difficult yet that we need the extra traction. In our other rigs we typically air down just for ride comfort on bumpy trails even if we don't need the extra traction. But in this Bronco that's not as much of an issue since the suspension is so nice, it soaks up those bumps even on hard tires.
