Then you have done it incorrectly and the bushings are not working the way they are designed to. You do not use stock cup washers with Bones bushings. Only use the top washer provided by Bones.
@@davejs1671 I heard some people say that you actually should use the bottom washer on thunders because the baseplate where the bottom bushing sits is narrow and the bushing will crumble on the sharp edge.
@@Palach303 that makes sense if your bushings have a bottom barrel bushing but bones bushings are both cone and designed with a hard area on the bottom cone for support but honestly it will work either way. If your bushings ever crumble before they are just completely worn out, it is because you have them too tight and need to get softer bushings. You control feel by bushing hardness. If someone it cranking down on the nut because they want tighter trucks they are just compressing their bushings and they will not last.
Had the same problem tbh, i brought an element complete setup (just got back into skating after a 15 year break) and the bushings couldn't really handle the tightness of my trucks. bones doesn't have that problem i use 96A and i dont think ill use anything else.
I love Indy bushing on thunders. You can ride them loose with good stability. This coming from a heavy guy that right tight trucks. I'm gonna try bones on my Indys tomorrow. They feel really unstable rihlght now. Only down side for me it's bones bushings look so boring lol
I hate thunder bushings, I never knew my trucks leaned to one side but as you described when you lean to much on one side with thunder bushings they mess up your balance. Thanks for figuring it out for me.
The "thing" you didn't know the name of is called the kingpin. The part you called the kingpin is actually called the nut. It would have been a good idea to let people know that you do not use your old stock washers. Only the included washer from Bones.
Thunder bushings and Indy bushings usually both last me until I grind to the axle and replace the trucks. I have used bones medium bushings in Independents before but the tend to collapse and blow out after a month or two. I wouldn’t use them in Thunders because the height difference changed the geometry of the trucks and change the way they turn and put extra wear and tear on the pivot cups.
YES BROTHER! I haven't skated in 20 years and my buddy just suggested bones hard as the best for heavier riders. Hope all is well and you're still at it.
Lol same exact thing here it's crazy how many people get back into it I went out yesterday for 20 min just pushing around to get my balance back and my legs are killing me
hmm. For me I have Thunder 161 trucks and I took the stock teal bushings out and got the 98A or harder yellow Thunder bushings. So far no problems. I'm also a heavier rider so that may be a factor in me liking them. Hmm also I got that Toy Machine deck for my kid. I'm worried it may snap now. Oh well.
