Bonfire Tall Fescue - How I TRANSFORMED My Lawn To Short Cut Grass 

Finally, a tall fescue channel. Now that's my kinda grass.

Will be doing this with my lawn. Love the look when its reel mowed over any other way.

I have Barenbrug RTF that I have mowed with my Honda at 2 inches and raised to 2 1/2 in the summer and last year bought an Allett Stirling because I to wanted to get into reel mowing. I'm currently at 1 1/2 inches and it looks great. I may lower it to 1 1/4 down the road.

I’m in Springfield mo. Back in March, I cleared an areas in my front lawn about 100sq ft. I found I had a layer of compacted dead roots/grass about 3” below the top layer of thatch..(about that thatch, I neglected my lawn since I got the house, and the thatch was bad, created really dry compacted soil) Anyways, after I cleared the area, I wanted to see if the Berenburg perenial rye could make it through this summer. So I planted it.. When the rye sprouted I saw something else sprouted with it🤦‍♂️ I was waiting for my reel mower to show up and the grass grew a little longer than I wanted before the first mow.. Turns out that the area looks great! The rye is still looking good, that other stuff that sprouted was tall fescue, turns out my entire front lawn is tall fescue but due to the neglect I couldn’t recognize it🤦‍♂️ I’m going to aerate In about 2 weeks fertilizer and water until temps die down and I’m gonna overseed with rye if it makes it through summer, if not I’m gonna do tall fescue

here in pa i've been cutting my fescue 2 always depening on how hot it gets i let be at 3 seems to be good and working for me.

I'm very happy with the Artimuss MVS TTTF, I renovated the whole front with it and spring is here. I get nothing but compliments and hate. I swear the neighbors are intentionally trying to damage it. They scalp it on the side yard, use it as a toilet for their dog, and just give me dirty looks. Meanwhile their entire yard is weeds, yesterday they side discharged their 9 inch high weeds/grass all over it and it looked pretty intentional. I'm keeping it at 3" on my main yard with a mow every other day, wanted to see how 2" or lower did on that side but I really don't want to stress it with all the abuse from neighbor. Pretty much dealing with it but their dog seems to pee acid...I don't blame the dog but these folks are just low class trash staking the dog out and using my yard as a dog toilet. Oh I'm also in your area.

Looks awesome! I picked up twin city seeds Resilience TTTF blend which is pretty similar to Artimus. Looking forward to see how your turf handles the low cut during the summer!

I live in St. Louis too. I have always wanted to move low, possibly reel mow eeeeeeeventually maybe. I have a yard that surrounded by mature tree. I would really like to know about your journey with this grass type. Also how resistant it is to fungus. Also where to you get your lawn leveling supplies. I would love to find a place to get good quality sand and soil. I live in University City

How low are you cutting it? For overseeding, and dethatching fescue

Is the bond fire leaf as fine as fine fescue blades. Sure looks good Brandon.

How often do you mow it and sharpen blades?
