+OurlostIsland "Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?" "I HAVE" "Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?" "SOMETHING FUNNY..." That "something funny" gets me all the time
Griffin As much as that would be amazing, roles are dictated much more by physical appearance than by voice type or technique in musical theatre than in classical operatic roles where it’s dictated more by the type of voice you have. She’s truly fantastic, but myself being a big singer like her, I don’t see our roles expanding beyond older women, antagonists, and comedic relief because everyone wants the “classic” Disney princess look like Laura has.
@@lemonarizonatea This is exactly why I created The Broadway Body Positivity Project. We deserve better than to be typecast solely on our appearance. Plus size performers could easily master the ingenue, leading man/lady, etc. if we fight for an even playing field!
The Broadway Body Positivity Project it’s not even just about plus size, it’s about the disabled too. everyone focuses on us but never disabled actors who honestly need much more recognition
My organization advocates for Plus Size, Disabled, and Little Person actors, as well as other communities of people who made experience marginalization in theatre (e.g. actors with noticeable skin disorders, exceptionally tall or short actors). If you check out my Facebook, I post about all sorts of body types (@broadwaybopo).
I always think at 2:47 that there's like a third harmony coming but it's in fact an audience member screaming ON PITCH and in a way that makes it even more special.
John Parker Broadway did? How? :( Fat-shaming is uncool. I know Bonnie sang a song that was majorly self-fatshaming in Maybe this Time "I'll get skinny" so I'm not sure if you meant Bonnie and not Broadway (which was beautifully sung, although the humor was lost on me I still love her. )
It's still amazing to me that Laura Osnes' career started from a random tv competition that got her the part of Sandy on broadway and now she's like this famous star that people are obsessed with
Right Laura did audition! I met her at a breakfast meet and greet, and she mentioned that at the audition, all the girls had to glide around with Heelies in crop tops😂
"Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?" "SOMETHING'S FUNNY..." I died on that part.. Hahaha.. I watched this video for 50 times, quite literally (PS: Is their pianist the conductor in Broadway's Cinderella?)
She makes it look so easy. One of those people who has the voice, and the ability to perform physically at the same time in a very natural and charismatic way.
Dude.... the guy on piano is having the time of his life and I am living for how he is eating up this experience while playing some top notch notes for these beautiful singers.
Bonnie’s range is incredible! I’m so glad I stumbled across this video as it introduced me to this amazing singer/performer. She’s super funny and seems like she has a great personality. I hope she gets more leading/main cast roles! Laura is absolutely fantastic as well ☺️
I love that I keep coming back and watching this. Its just SO good. My favorite part is 7:12 when Laura gets into "princess mode" and Bonnie mouths 'what the f***' off to the side! HAHAHA!!!!
I started watching this video with mild amusement, that grew into love, which grew into a stupid glowing grin smacked on my face by the Christina impression!!
OMG - I would love to have seen this live. I would be so cracking up on both of them - they have great chemistry on stage. LOL! Laura and Bonnie are hilarious! My favorite part is Laura singing Colors of the Wind and we see Bonnie trying to upstage her like Aretha did on everyone during Divas Live 99! LOL.
This is my comfort video and I can’t thank y’all enough for it. I have a chronic illness and my dog is dying and Ive been watching this on repeat because of the serotonin boost it gives me. Legitimately, from the bottom of my heart, thank you 💕
