saw her at Center Stage in ATL a few years ago, and we had front row seats. It was a better view than I had the first time I saw her, nosebleed seats in Raleigh NC. Both shows, however, were great
Get Billy Hector's CD "Traveler." Suzan Lastovica sings "Wild Heart" to Billy's slide guitar work, and that song is both beautiful and Beatlesesque. Worth the price of the CD for that song alone. BTW, Billy opened for Bonnie Rait at the R&R hall of fame, and she loved his guitar work. LITTLE FEAT rock! See you down at the Spanish Moon....
Bonnie learned her chops as a backup singer at Lowell George's Little Feat, God rest his soul. The Gov't Mule cover of Spanish Moon is great! Check it out on Grooveshark!
Personally I'm glad she sings like Bonnie because I like her better than I do Taylor Swift. It's typical that you have to look like society says. Bonnie is the Queen and there would be no Taylor without Bonnie. Rock on Bonnie.
Anyone into this should check her bassplayer "freebo's" music, "before the seperation" "dog people" and "the end of the beggining" check on itunes or cd-baby.
I loved this from the moment I first heard it - uh...years ago, Nick of Time, but until I saw this I never knew BR had serious guitar chops. Stupid me. And doncha just love how she reveals that she ain't no Queen of Sheba. Take off your kid gloves... John Hiatt has to be one of America's most under-appreciated song writers...that's no diss...why isn't he murderously wealthy - oh, maybe he is but he sure don't write like it. Took me years to find his version of The Most Unoriginal Sin.
Oh, please. She does this as the second song in her set these days. It's an obligatory throwaway, and it definitely wasn't the song the crowd liked best - that would be "Something to Talk About.." Bonnie's had much bigger hits, if that's how you judge a person's career. Don't misunderstand. I like this song a good bit, but your comment is simply ignorant.
No. That's not what it means in this case. The line is "Take off your kid gloves, I ain't no porcupine". First of all the song was written by John Hiatt, so it's written from a man's point of view not a woman's. So clearly he is not calling HIMSELF a loose woman. He means that he doesn't need to be handled carefully (with "kid gloves") because he's won't hurt her, as one might be hurt if they pick up a porcupine. I believe Mr. Hiatt writes from a slightly more sophisticated point of view.
I'm a big Hiatt fan, like Bonnie to, but she's a really good slide player, not a great one. The latter include Ry Cooder, Sonny Landreth, and Derek Trucks. The first two have played extensively with Hiatt. If you want to hear the definitive guitar solo on "Feels Like Rain", covered by Bonnie and Buddy Guy, listen to the original version by Hiatt with Landreth on guitar. No offense to Buddy, but it isn't even close.... Off of "Slow Turning" album.
JOHN DOE--CAN YOU HEAR ME! iF YOU CAN YOU ARE THE VERY FIRST PERSON THAT i HAVE COME ACROSS THAT CAN DISCERN SOUND FROM AN INANIMATE OBJECT. CALL THE EARTHQUAKE PEOPLE THEY COULD USE YOUR TALENT ---I MEAN IF YOU CAN HEAR ACOMPUTER SHOUT, THAN YOU CAN HEAR TECTONIC PLATES RUBBING. JEZ-IHOPE THAT WASN'T TO LOUD FOR YOU. WHERE ARE MY MANNERS, OH I FEEL SO ASHAMED.
Only slightly. "You know you ain't no Queen of Sheba" turned into "I know I ain't no Queen of Sheba". Just a change in perspective. Nothing to write home about.
