I watched this movie when I was withdrawing from drugs so bad I couldn't lift my head. It brought life into me... I felt some strong emotions watching it
Probably the best actor of his generation. "In the name of love" is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life. And I have seen a lot of movies. This music couldn't capture better the emotions and feelings of the story. True, by the way.
Just shows one example of what the British have done to the Irish over the centuries, and this is only a relatively mild case, and I was born in the UK. Absolutely brilliant movie.
This was put on netflix recently, i hadn't seen this film in about ten years to remember its one of the best, i am so addicted to this tune, and have discovered Gavin Friday aswell, RIP Giuseppe and Gerry Conlon, Innocent Men
One of the best movie of Daniel Day-Lewis, greatest actor of his generation, maybe of all time. So many different roles, and yet always credible to the highest point. Sad day when I learned he was retiring. Hope he changes his mind to give us one or two more characters to enjoy love or hate.
Im Latin American, when I was child (and didn't understand politics), I remember that "Ireland" sounds like a funny country, green, U2, beer, etc. Northern Ireland, instead, was a sort of "black hole". Nobody knew nothing about but the place was violent. The names "Northern Ireland" and "Belfast" was grabbed to me as synonim of war. (I was a child in the time of the end of the "Troubles").
Just to let you know the (troubles) never really ended. They continued as RADD to stop your drugs from reaching our people. We kill drug dealers. Not welcome......
If you want to watch another great movie with D D Lewis watch his movie called The Boxer .. Also set in the the time of the troubles in Northern Ireland .. One of the best actors ever in my opinion ..

I rewatched this movie after Sineads passing (RIP celt sister) and it got me thinking, in all my travels, and im sure im not alone on this, I've been asked often, "why we hate the English" But i have never heard the Question, why the English hate us so much?? ,, and its not a recent thing,, its deep seeded and rooted long ago
In the name of the father Come to me Come lie beside me Oh don’t deny me Your love Make sense of me Walk through my doorway Don’t hide in the hallway Oh love…step over I’ll follow you down I’ll follow you down In the name of whiskey In the name of song You didn’t look back You didn’t belong In the name of reason In the name of hope In the name of religion In the name of dope In the name of freedom You drifted away To see the sun shining On someone else’s day In the name of United and the BBC In the name of Georgie Best and LSD In the name of a father And his wife the spirit You said you did not They said you did it In the name of justice In the name of fun In the name of the father In the name of the son Call to me No one is listening I’m waiting to hear from you love Stay with me It’s cold in the ground But there’s peace in the sound Of the white and the black Spilling over I’ll follow you down

Potente questa canzone, che Bono Vox, interpretò per il film. Il fatto che il padre in questione si chiami Giuseppe, per me è indicativo del ricordo di s. Giuseppe.
