“Just as in life, there’s no such thing as a person with no potential. Everyone has potential!” Peter Chan is a treasure to the bonsai community and to the world. Great video!
This is Bob Ross style of wisdom right there with the same air of calm. I enjoy Peter's videos mostly for the wisdom and the sense of peace with nature and the world. It has been recommended to me to tune in to his channel as a form of meditation and it really has done wonders for me. His videos are of course a goldmine of horticulture/bonsai advice but for someone like me who is unlikely to actually go on to grow bonsai it's the simple pleasure of watching him work and speak about life and nature that makes me go back to his channel any time I need an uplift 🥰 Peter Chan is indeed a national treasure!
That little bird really likes your work. She's been in a couple of videos. Thanks for catching that footage and not cutting it out. Good job camera guy. Thank you.
Separating two trees in one pot. Me: manipulate carefully with chop sticks for 30 minutes. Both trees die. Peter Chan: Grab with a double fist and rip apart. 2 beautiful bonsai.
I'm afraid to say my very higlight is the cute little robin joining the show and snacking some fruit on the go. The rest is - as always - very informative and highly motivating, but the robin sets this video apart. ☺
Aww I used to have a little robin at work. He would jump at my pockets because he knew I had seeds in them. He would also bring his babies to me for some extra food :)
You will never know how your videos have helped me. Not only to create a better bonsai but to feel better about myself and those around me. To me you are a bonsai genius and an individual who sees potential in everyone and everything. Thank you so much.
Just learned the robin just displays normal behavior. It does this with the wild bore in nature when they turn the soil looking for food just like Peter rough up the soil. He is the wild bore of bonsai to the robin.
Your videos open my eyes to potential and build my confidence. Sometimes when styling, I ask for your opinion and can hear your response in my mind... with your voice. Thanks Peter.
Your statement is so true! I hear the same voice - what should i do?? Peter’s voice in my head - Oh just chop it off. No bother. Look how beautiful now. :)
@@carlbroussard8428 "Sometimes u Just have to bite the bullet" "Always Look From all Angles, U never know what u will find" "there are Always multiple solutions, Just find Them" so many treasurable advices From Peter chan!
I really appreciate you making videos that make the art of bonsai accessible to people who can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a single tree or those who don't have their own property to have big bonsai trees outdoors. You're incredibly talented and knowledgable. Thank you for all that you do!
Hello Peter, you are not a bonsai master, you are the bonsai master. He knows how to get the best out of trees and from what I see through his videos I imagine that he also knows how to get the best out of people. How many talents the world would have gained if we devoted ourselves more to supporting people and not criticizing them!
I find that by doing bonsai - it has helped me to appreciate people more - no matter who or what they are. People are like trees. Everyone different but all have potential.
@@peterchan3100 How right you are, my friend, a word of encouragement is so powerful that it changes the life of the person who receives it. Fortunately, we are not all twisted junipers with perfect branches full of dead wood. Sadly, many people are going in the opposite direction.
Different trees, Different size, Different age, Different styles. very informative for a beginner. Lovely Robin, least but last, over head electric cable🙏
I love love LOVE this video! Firstly sir, you are an amazing teacher! I recently began my second...and hopefully more successful venture into the art of bonsai, and your videos have taught me more in a few weeks than I’ve ever learned from reading or any other means of educating myself. Most of my past dead trees resulted from my over zealous desire to repot anything I could get my hands on! You have taught me to be patient and repot/wire at the appropriate time. Thank you for your knowledge and for the way that you make your point understandable to us beginners. And I must comment on the bird. The mere fact that that sweet tiny bird was comfortable and fearless around you, is a testament to your calm demeanor and zen-like ability to become one with nature. I could watch this all day long.
This video is among my all time favourites. I really enjoyed watching you transform your ‘no hopers’ into lovely little bonsai. I will be going into my garden with fresh eyes now! I will be ordering some of your plastic training pots for my saplings. Loved the beautiful robin watching you work! Thank you Peter.
Having just retired and trying to fill my time you are giving me the inspiration to take up Bonsai on the cheap, just following your channel I can look at plants at garden center's in such a different way, I am hoping to visit your nursery very soon.
Thanks Peter for giving us one more master lesson on how simple things have their beauty. Even the "simple" robin joined. I did love this video. One last word for the good job done by the man with the camera.
Absolutely fantastic, I started being interested in Bonsai in the 80s and didn’t continue with it, I’m 70 now and you have brought a tear to my eye, the regrets but also the joy that people will have whilst being connected to nature and also I will do some again and pass them on to my children, as I know one is interested in, as he borrowed my Dan Barton book. Thank you! DG New Forest U.K.
about your "mission in life"... i'm very grateful for your videos. i've been watching them for days, they're really calming after a stressful day. even got myself a little tree from the forest around the corner to work with. much love from germany!
Just love how you are able to transform a nothing plant to a beautiful creation. I am now retired. Bonsai surely will be part of my garden hobby. Thank you for the video! Be well!
Thank you so much! I’m a total newbie and I’ve watched lots of videos and to be honest most knocked my confidence but yours has made me really want to give it a go!! X
I went from orchids to succulent and now I'm looking at bonsai 😆 I'm going to need more windows if I keep this indoor plants thing up.(I know only some bonsai can grow indoors but I don't have space for outside plants)
Thank you so much for showing us how to work with difficult, intermediate-sized material. Most of us amateurs love to work with larger than tiny material but cannot afford the really large trees. So we usually have to work with older, poorly shaped stock. Love the 2-way split!
Great work! Lovely little trees! I did a similar video with wild olive cuttings; like you said, it's possible to make a bonsai out of anything that grows. 🌱🌿🌳
Wow! I am always inspired by your work. I had no idea you could split the trunk two ways.😳 Thank you for sharing your knowledge. My little trees and I appreciate it.😊 Also, love the cheeky Robin!😁
Such a wonderful video - full of information and inspiration. Your affection for the plants shows. And your voice is very soothing. Thank you for your teachings!
I am amazed at your designs with bonsai. I love your long videos and don’t get bored watching. I learn so much by watching your videos. Continue sharing your knowledge with us beginners who love the art of bonsai.
In nature it is quite common to see trees that have had vines rapped around them and caused the trunks to have that effect of spiraling so I really like the way leaving the wire in looks! People around me often seek these trees out and they cut them and take the bark off and carve them to make walking sticks. 😊
During these month of the pandemic; thanks for a few quiet chuckles, re: stories on diving for nursery throwaways. Yes Peter you have more than served us well. And I am more than encouraged by the poker straight black pine "almost obscene" an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan! Keep teaching and reminding us secret Bonsai tips along with life lessons. It doesn't hurt. The entire 50 minutes without your power lenses. Keep the magic coming. Thank you. And is no solution to a face mask with glasses. I tried it all. Love from Canada's chilly December West Coast.
Yes so cute trees very much smollett but they like and life because lovely flowers have been to eyesight for life because baddest of older just before beautiful tree🥰🥰
Thank you Mr.Chan for those all beautiful bonsai you make.. its so amazing and stunning.. i always enjoying watching your videos its relaxing for me and i love it👍❤🇵🇭
The Robins in Europe are members of the Chat family of birds. In North America, Robins are members of the Thrush family. Ours can be friendly, too, but yours could almost have his own RU-vid channel.
That gnarled trunk from the wire reminds me of a walking stick my dad made from a maple tree. The tree had been strangled by a vine and the trunk was heavily twisted and gnarled like that. It’s his “wizards staff” we call it. All he had to do was peel the bark off and sand the ends round and rub it with beeswax. So that appearance is something that exists in nature
