The episodes with Mike and Dave talking about the scriptures are my favorite. I feel such love for each of the four of you as you express why this study is important. I am blown away at the maturity and testimonies of those young Paul brothers who express their love of the scriptures, the temple, the gospel, the Atonement, and Jesus Christ so deliciously. At 73 yo I am so grateful to Myke and Dave for all their years of study and their ability to synthesize that gathered information and then to express it so that even I can understand it. Thank-you for enlarging my heart, my mind, my soul, and my testimony. Often in my prayers I thank the Lord for you four and what you have done for me in innumerable ways. You won't be hearing me say, "So what?"

Biggest problem is I can’t get past 1st Nephi because there’s so much to unpack.

Don’t worry about unpacking it all. It is reinforced as u move on. And guess what we do in our ward? We introduce LDS kids and Scripture Explorers and Book of Mormon videos to our new members and investigators. We instruct them to read a chapter then find the kids cartoon for that section then re read the chapter. Out of five new members three are still with us and learning growing and applying gospel principles to their lives. So watch the children’s videos then u will unpack what is holding u back.

When Mike said he sometimes has a hard time explaining his “so what” I thought… when we learn something from the spirit, we often struggle finding the words to teach it to others 3 Nephi talks about how there were no words to describe the things they had heard and seen. “17 And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak.” I believe our personal revelations are meant just for us until the Lord gives us the words to communicate it to others. Each of us are supposed to gain that enlightenment for ourselves. My two cents.

I cc'd this from my comment on the SOJ channel but wanted Mike to see it: "This is for Dave.... (and the Stick of Joseph guys) in regards to the "ark" and "throne" in the Holy of Holies. The ambiguity gets cleared up when you understand the ark and the throne are one in the same. They are not different "physical" objects. I really like Mike's explanation here (or partial explanation) which is 100% accurate as the corrupt temple priests had transitioned God from the one that made "Us" in "His" image to the one with no human form. Now... you show this by the illustration (talking to SOJ) of the tabernacle/temple but unfortunately you show the common (Raiders of the Lost Ark) artistic interpretation. But the popular, worldly version is a false image. Now some may say, "well we don't know what it looks like". But I would counter and say, well.... maybe not..... but maybe some of us do know what it looks like. Maybe there are other artistic interpretations (that have been rendered for decades) that are less popular but more accurate. What I'm saying is that God has revealed the "actual" image of the Ark-Throne-Mercy Seat. If you would like to see it contact me. The disconnect David has will be erased once he sees the accurate illustration of the our Lord's Throne (the exact same one, I believe) as seen by John the Revelator. I just think it's time we start showing the real depiction of the ark and it would be awesome if the tabernacle illustration you put up has the correct image. Let me know if you want to see it."

Women of the Church need to awake & arise - too many are slothful in gospel knowledge. Too many excuse themselves because the world told them they weren't "smart" (I don't need to be smart in the things of the world - I need to be wise in the things of God)

Adieu Adeu . Where the hell did that terminology come from showing up in the mormon book? I was told joseph smith was not learned. Whats with the french language used in the mormon script? Who toldb him to use those words. Something is off with that. And it raises issues with the genuosity of smiths presentation.

Adieu was common enough in the U. S. to be listed in Webster's 1828 dictionary as a synonym for farewell. The Book of Mormon was published in March 1830. 1828 Webster's Dictionary, "fa'rewell." FA'REWELL, noun 1. A wish of happiness or welfare at parting; the parting compliment; adieu. Adieu expresses a meaning that goes beyond farewell or goodbye. It references God. In Jacob 7:27, with the word, adieu, Jacob ends his writings by commending God to his audience, a very fitting sign-off for a religious teacher. 1828 Webster's Dictionary: ADIEU', noun A farewell, or commendation to the care of God; as an everlasting adieu. I had to edit my previous post because I don't know how adieu managed to work its way into the vernacular of that day. It's guesswork on my part. The French claimed a chunk of North American territory up until 1803. Since that's not the case now, we often forget that they were here, and that they exerted some early linguistic influence. Many of those who lived here were explorers, fur traders, priests, and soldiers with wide-ranging travel requirements. The French also had a strong influence on culture. I've seen adieu included in some English poetry from that time period. Keats is an example. One site shows the word in some early hymns like Wesley's "Vain, delusive world, adieu," but I currently can't guarantee which hymns were sung at the camp meetings Joseph attended. By 1828, farewell and goodbye do not express a connection to God as effectively as adieu does. Bottom line, the 1828 Webster's Dictionary shows adieu was definitely used as a U. S. synonym for farewell.

How sad that you with such knowledge would lay on that mother and that girl a reality. The reality is many people who go to the temple for the first time and maybe be because so many LDS Molly‘s are afraid to talk openly honestly lovingly and respectfully about what goes on in the temple, there are unable to be prepared or to prepare someone they love for the strange experience. It is a strange experience. I did not have that problem with my daughter because she knew all about it. She had a mother who had a temple recommend all her growing up life. I spoke about it, openly her daughter and explain things, however, there was a time and this could have been than it was. There was a time to very wonderful priesthood holders, took their families to the temple for the first time. I had already been to the temple as a single parent for many years when I saw them standing out in the parking lot and heard them talking about how they felt About the Temple clothing and everything that went on in the temple I went up to them and I said Pete Charlie it’s OK to laugh go ahead laugh. It is strange and we talked about it. They did laugh and even giggle grown men kind of giggled. I brought up about my father being a fourth-degree knights of Columbus member my uncle Lee being a Mason, and we spoke about us being latter-day Saints with the privilege of being able to go to the temple and once that initial feeling of shame, embarrassment, and feeling uncomfortable because oh boy, I must not be a good enough priesthood holder I must not have been prepared enough because I feel this is really strange and I don’t know if I can do this again Once that was over with and they understood it’s OK to giggle a little bit. Find the relief breathe and then look for the blessings and symbolism the great and wonderful symbolism of what we do in the temple. It’s more than 40 years since they are still alive, their families are still together. Their children have gone on missions. And I believe, helping them understand that it was OK to feel uncomfortable and yes, it is strange once we get past that the beauty becomes a parent. And I think that’s probably what that mother was trying to help her daughter get through and did you get the other part of the story? Which could’ve been the daughter was very relieved and happy that her mother had shared that and she understood it. God passed it and the temple. Her first temple experience might have been a very beautiful one because the mother prepared her. You’re welcome to answer me back. If you could find my Google account.

I (Mike) think what Jackson was trying to communicate was an invitation for us to do more to prepare our youth and ourselves to understand the liturgical significance of the temple, to see it being played out in our texts, and to open ourselves up to deeper thinking regarding the mysteries. I know Jackson’s heart, and he was in no way trying to cause harm and I hope his words can be understood in this light.

My first experience attending the temple was in 1972 before they had temple prep classes. I received my endowments and was married the same day. I didn't understand anything and kept wondering if I was married. Then the endowment ended and my mother told me I wasn't married yet. It was so different from the simple, uncomplicated, and reasonable I had. Days later I told my husband that I never wanted to go back. He said we better get you back there soon so we can talk in the celestial room. Attending the temple became my favorite thing to do. I loved it and I didn't have all the understanding that I am gaining from these videos. Now I enjoy it even more. I have an increased hunger for studying the scriptures and my prayers have become more meaningful thanks in big part to these 4 men.
