Boogie was decent movie, I was interesting in family dynamics & characters but the scene with charlamagne tha god as college scout broke me. He was an unnecessary asshole which makes no sense for the scene shown. Primarily the writing in scene was just too corny & bad. I kind of agree with David on this one. It felt like. 90s movie with 2021 sensibilities.

First thing I learned in film school was that I don't know shit. And that's okay. It can get complicated so acting like you know everything cause you've watched a few youtube videos with wrong information isn't the way to getting better. (Also I you gotta put the movie you guys will eventually talk about in the description so i know to watch it :)

In terms of Asian American film, I obviously love the representation and seeing people who look like me on screen, but I still feels like there's a lack of creativity in the stories told. I hear the same themes over and over again in films about Asian Americans, whether it's about conflict in the parental generations culturally, or any other "we defy the stereotype" that seems like beating a dead horse.
