I like the way you do this revue, you are gentle and nice explaining very well why the paper can.t be Arches . You are encoraging us to try this nice book
I love Dana’s books. They are fun as well as instructional. I can totally see you doing something like this, Emma, with flowers. I would be the first in line to buy your book. 😊
I have all of her books. They are so awesome and easy going. I trace the images then transfer them on better paper or sketchbooks. That way I can always have them to try over and over again.
I love your channel. I have all three of her books. I'm currently working on in the forest. I only started learning watercolor this past July. Everything I've learned is from watching RU-vid. Your channel has been one of my favorites. Thank you so much for teaching me so much. I'm 67 years old, so I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Lol.
I have purchased all Three of her books and spent many delightful hours painting all the projects. I also have the wonderforest brushes and they are my favorite. I have many other brushes, but always reach for these golden gems.
I just got the ocean book. So excited to try it. Thank you for doing this review! And yes you should absolutely do you own watercolor coloring book! I would pre order that immediately.
I just want to tell you thank you! Thank you for always being positive and happy! I just started watercolor. I have been having seizures and my brain really needs the therapy. Its been so encouraging to listen to you..I feel like I can succeed and if I make mistakes it will be ok. 🥰💞
@@sarah4264 thanks for telling me that..concentration cause shocks in my head so I haven't done much lately but I have great hope I can do this..its goid to know I dont have to be perfect because I'm surely not..lol 🤪💗💗💗 hugs back to you!
@@JustMeYouSee Well, it sounds like loose and abstract is right up your alley. You can always come back when it's dry and add squiggles, dots and lines with a marker, ink pen or white jell pen. And don't forget to splatter it for that artisic touch. Then you'll have created a masterpiece.
I am excited that you shared with us the watercolor books! I’m visiting my granddaughter in California and I’m hoping to have an afternoon of watercolor fun with her💕
This has inspired me to break my current lack of watercolour mojo, and get out my Dana Fox books! I don’t have the latest book, but I have the In the Forest and In the Ocean ones, and I agree that they’re really relaxing and fun to paint in. One of these books with a couple of brushes (maybe a round #6 and a round #2) and a small Cotman half-pan palette would make a wonderful lockdown gift for someone wishing to try watercolour painting.
I have her 1st book. It was so much fun. Being a new watercolorist I didnt want to only have 1 chance. So, I photocopied the drawings only for my own use. Then I used a tracing light to trace onto watercolor paper. I learned so much and it was rewarding. I finished the whole book...all 50.
Heavens yes! To not have to be as mindful of one's own subject matter & composition, etc., but just of hue, water/pigment ratio, wc brushstrokes & just practice in & of itself. LOVELY❣
Thank you for doing a tutorial on this. I purchased this book a few weeks ago and just ordered the other ones as well. I'm glad you found this a relaxing exercise, Emma. You give so much of yourself to others and it's nice to see you being about to sit back and experience what we all get to experience because of your tutorials. :)
I was happy to see this book is also available as a Kindle book. I can print out the practice drawings on my own paper, and the money I saved over the cost of the physical book I can put towards purchasing her brushes.
I have all three of her books. I usually sketch the project onto my paper and then follow her painting instructions. I love all three books! Thanks to you, I found her watercolor brushes and placed an order today. Thank you for another amazing video!!
Thank you so much for the tip about placing more colour and bringing it down. I've been struggling for a while with that on cold-pressed paper and managed to do it after watching you. Your videos are very much appreciated. 😊
Thanks for introducing me to someone new to follow. Cant wait to order one of her books and I' m now following her too. You are so full of fun and inspiration as well as information. Thanks for making my day wonderful
We've gotten spoiled with all the free content available and a lot of people have no idea how much work goes into it. I think 25 watercolor projects with watercolor paper sounds great. Cool project, thank you for sharing.
I have all 3 of Dana's books and her brushes. I loved working through them so much that I bought copies for a friend of mine's 10 year old daughter who is a budding artist. She loved them and I think some of her paintings turned out better than mine. 💕👍
I have all her books, but have not yet painted in them, so it was really great to see you taking the first step - It is a bit intimidating to paint right there in the lovely book lol 😅 I will do it, I just have to get that first page done to get over it I think - thank you 👋🏻🤗👋🏻
Thankyou for the heritage comparison here. I literally have a heritage set and the wonder forest set in my Amazon cart and I was trying to decide on one! Lol
I’ve been using these brushes since last year, even ordered a second set as a backup. I love them! And they’re in the same condition they arrived and I use them daily.
I had no idea that watercolor supplies had increased in price. I stocked up last Christmas on my fav M Graham and. QoR paints. I wish I had bought more paper and a few new brushes. I really like the format of this book.
You are really good at animals! If you aren't around the animal & don't know them, of course it's hard. But I have seen your animals-they are very good! Animals aren't something you've focussed on, but, you are spending time on things you love-which is a wonderful way to live 😊🤓
thanks for showing this. I just got her first book and love it! My only complaint (not a real complaint) is that I would like to do them over on watercolor paper but when you copy them, they are too light to copy well. I even tried using graphite paper to copy them to another piece of watercolor paper and that didn't work either. Still, her books are awesome! (I am a beginning watercolor painter).
I have the forest and ocean books, and I'm a beginner. It was my Sunday morning project while we were in lock down last year, and my church had online services. I've only done stuff in the forest book, and so many turned out well (others not so much). I keep looking for the jungle book in stores. I follow her in Instagram, and I think she's coming out with a farm book, eventually!
I bought the book during lockdown in my state. I was shocked when I received it; it was so much slimmer. But I do know Covid created shortages, price increases, etc. I love all three books.
I have two of her books, that I love. I had this one in my hands last week and changed my mind due to price. Thanks for enlighten me as to why it was thinner and pricier. That makes sense instead rather than, what I thought, which was that she was being cheap (so sorry for being judgements). Also thank you for demos as I have the worst time reading and following instructions. I’m a visual learner.
I saw a lot of negative reviews for those reasons and it makes me quite sad to see that. Artist's want nothing more than to put quality work and products out. I know how hard it was for her to have to do that in the circumstances she was given. Wish people would have a little more grace. I haven't tried either of her previous books but I can tell you, this one is more than worth the price!
I have all 3 books and her brushes. I like everything but am a bit disappointed in the last book - being half the size and the same price. Also the paper is different in this last book it seems to have dots on it. Maybe it’s just my copy. LOVE her brushes.
Leaving a feedback on your recording equipment here. Something is off with your microphone, there's a lot of sound distortion on the higher pitch tones when you are speaking. Very painful to the ears, even when lowering the sound volume on the video a ton the painful distortion pitch is still there.
