Hi guys! This is not really a review... I talk a little bit about the book, but the idea is completely different.
I hope you understand this is my opinion and I'm not trying to force anyone to like this book.
If you want me to review the short stories, please let me know!
Thank you so much for watching!

I'm glad you made this video, I'm not a youtuber but I told myself I was interested in starting by making this EXACT video. Very well said! It's about the characters. The characters are men who are ALONE for a reason. They have their own views about the people and the world around them. People forget everything has context.

Great review dawg Blows my mind that some people were offended by "muh sexism". Like dude, if anything its the complete opposite. Its men struggling to deal with their worth without women

¡Qué hermosa! what a great point of view! And thank you about the clarification on being fiction. Loved the stories, read them around 8 years ago now :O I did like "Sherezade" though. Murakami is my favorite author. And yes, with Murakami you either love him or hate them but a lot of people just follow other people's opinions.. How cute Alfredo!

Thank you for your insights , i had actually forgotten that this is fiction ,idk if it was the way murakami way of writing or something else . Your video is very good but can you talk more about the plot of the book you are discussing a bit more ? Again , your video is very well done

I am totally unaware of the 'Murakami universe' this is the first Murakami book I read and I thought it was quite enjoyable. Some short stories really stuck with me especially Kino's . I really loved the layers that are created : Author Fictional events Fictional Narrator what Narrator knows what the narrator narrates (brilliantly leaving spaces for the reader to indulge) Now to assume that all the things the functional narrator thinks or tells is a direct reflection of the authors mind is almost stupid. The subtle social commentary through these characters (all with shades of grey , men and women) was interesting as well. Maybe I would connect more to the social commentary as I read more of Murakami I hope. Are there any suggestions on which book to dwell into next ?

i started with norweigian wood, its tolerable and i appreciate the story then had kafka on the shore.. I wasnt ready, that it took me 2 months to finish the book so that i could understand, then had 1984 or 1q84 had seizures for days.. its hard to decipher yet it chalenges u to understand the murakami universe... maybe a good tip for this is to understand japanese culture...

i’ve never even thought about murakami’s personal beliefs while reading his books. i just get lost in the stories. also, his female characters tend to be much more refreshing, unique, and/or spiritually stronger than the passive male protagonists.

Totally agree! Also, people have a problem with him writing more male protagonists than female, but that's not exactly true, and some of his female characters are just brilliant!

I hate when people do speed reading then pump out half baked reviews too. Like in the short story Independent Organ, the sex life of the plastic surgeon is actually refer to single man and internet porn. I mean look at the consistency and impunity of his sexual activity, it has to be it. Murakami has his genius way of describing about topics that even the readers don't want to admit committing. But from womenazi point of view, this detail is just straight out offensive. But again, you generally don't have any idea what Murakami writes about if you choose not to think about it.

People get uncomfortable when reading what is not what they consider to be appropriate or politically correct, that's a fact, but it shouldn't influence them to the extent that they just don't finish a book, because they can separate things. Fiction is not all roses, people are supposed to feel and be challenged to reflect on what makes them uncomfortable.
