Agreed. I was nine year old when they come out and begged my grandma to watch them with me. To make it short, I got two weeks house arrest because that movie let me curse like a sailor. I was just so pissed at this😂

Agree! Especially since I think Book-Poseidon is even more complex than that. I don't think he only cares about Percy as a political piece. He does kinda love his children, but he just doesn't know and doesn't really care to be a good dad for them since they're just not really... important enough for him. You can see that in the way he acts around Percy but also around Tyson. He's kinda proud, he also has positive feelings for them going beyond them being political but he doesn't know how to handle this feeling at all and also kinda has so many other things on his plate that learning how to handle also is not really high on his priority list especially since he has like hundreds of children. And tbh: That feels way more realistic than Poseidon forgetting that he is a god because he has a child with a human.

I think the first movie fits this like it’s semi-competently made and has some cool moments. But that second movie??? Woof that’s just bad as a film from the flat characters to the contrived plot, to the unclimactic final “battle” just made me sad over all -10/10

Not exactly because even the mythology is wrong. It also goes to the stereotypes like Zeus being the main focus of the good guys and Hades the real bad guy, even though Hades is pretty much a better god and person than his brother. Persephone isn’t supposed to be there because it’s summer and she loves Hades, he treats her like a true queen, even though he actually had kids with another woman.

I loved the movie when I first watched it (4th grade) then I read the books around 3 years ago and I hated the movies after that.
