I TOO LOVE THE FEEL OF A WELL-LOVED USED BOOK. There are few things like it. Very, very few things. Also: The Nickel Boys was devastating, but so good. Great collection - and great rainbow bag. I do love some IKEA.
Heard good things about Underground Railroad. Prequel sounds fascinating! Hope you get to it soon so I can get your thoughts on it! 😀 I love that you get books for Donna as well.
More! I think you'll enjoy The Secret Life of Bees and the Ware one the most. Hope for wonderful surprises with the rest of your finds!! Thank you for sharing your trip with us!
'Quite A Year For Plums': yes, I really like that cover & title also - looks like a terrific treat. It's so glorious coming across unexpected treasures like that, isn't it? I love that ambush of joy.
Oh that's an awesome book haul! This sale reminds me of the library book sale, especially because of the mix and price 🥰 I also love it when a book is loved as well! Sometimes the book can be bended well means it'll be easy to read without us having to do much!! I'm not too familiar with any of these books so I'm excited to see what you think about all of it!
There were definitely a few that I took a chance on because i did not know much about them and, in that crazy environment, I did not look up the titles on Goodreads until I got home. Still, I think I chose some winners here and, for the price, what the heck! A fun day, indeed!
Ooooh Ghost Towns looks fabulous as does In A Dark Dark Wood. I absolutely loved The Nickel Boys. So, so sad and poignant. I have Underground Railroad but haven’t read it yet. Prequel sounds fascinating. What a great book haul 😊
Goodness! ‘The Road’ is another tbr. I love a good dystopian novel. If you like dystopian and Mary Shelley’s writing ‘The Last Man’ is a dystopian that she wrote shortly after the death of her husband. I haven’t read it yet but heard good things. I agree on mass market paperbacks. My coworkers look at me like I’m crazy when I talk about my dislike for them. They’re not readers though. Looks like you had a great haul. Happy reading!
Must be the season for The Road. You're like the 3rd person I subscribe to this week who has recently bought or read it. I liked it a lot when I read it after the movie came out.
More great books! I don't think I've ever seen that particular collection of King short stories. I'll be curious to hear why that one has been banned. Oh, Colson Whitehead! Brilliant! Nickel Boys destroyed me. You'll see why. It's a devastating story--but so important. I don't know Quite a Year for Plums, but it does have a lovely cover. Snowball in a Blizzard sounds really interesting. I haven't read The Litigators. It sounds like one I should look into on your recommendation. Rachel Maddow!!! I have read Prequel--but from my library. I don't own that one. What a great find. I adore Rachel Maddow, and that is a terrific book! Wow, Reney. What a wonderful day you had. Enjoy all of these wonderful books.
@BookChatWithPat8668 The whole King ban is Crazy Sauce, honestly! I've heard good things about Whitehead, but yes ...tough reads - both, I'm sure. Rachael is BRILLIANT! I'm anxious to read Prequel. It was under a table in a box with a few other "naked" books. No one else saw it! LOL!
I haven't read any Cormac McCarthy, must get around to him, shocking admission, right? Wow, that cover for 'in a dark, dark wood', holy moly, what a gem!
