What an episode, for me this was an 8 out of 10 because it showed the progression of where boba has been this whole time and made you want to enter the healing chamber because it gave us flashbacks.
So, before we beigin, for newcomers this takes place right after Mando season 2. IF you haven’t seen the post credits scene from Mando season 2 finale, go do that and things will make more sense.
The flashbacks take place during Return of the Jedi, which came out in 1983, this was the one where luke fights Vader and gets shocked by the emperor.
As we open we see boba in a healing chamber on a batch.
He gets flashbacks first of Kamino and slave 1 I believe from episode 2 before he fought obi-wan, then to when he was a little boy holding the head of his father in the genosian arena after the Jedi fought the separatists with the help of the clones in their phase 1 armor.
Then, finally, we see a flashback of what happened to boba after he fell into the sarlaac pit in return of the Jedi. He was being digested, when he wakes up and sees where he is. The thing with sarlaacs is they digest their prey over 1000 years, so while the person may be dead, the armor takes longer to digest, as the stomach acid eats away at it. That’s why when he looks around he sees the corpse of stormtrooper, dead for probably a long time, partially digested armor as we can see with the acid burns. Now Boba’s armor won’t be as digested as easily because he’s wearing beskar iron, which is harder to melt than plastoid which is what stormtrooper arbor is made of.
As he takes the oxygen cord from the lifeless trooper, who had unluckily fallen into the sarlacc god knows when, he uses it to breathe as there isn’t any oxygen left in his own suit. Punching through he blasts the sarlaaccs innards with his flamethrower and gets out on his own terms. Now in legends, Dengar, another bounty hunter which we see in episode 5, saves Boba. However now they’ve rewritten it in canon that he makes it out on his own. And you know what, I’m good with this, I think it just makes Boba more badass.
As he’s left there until nightfall, the Jawas come to strip him of his suit, when he wakes up and they knock him out with the butt of their blaster rifle. I thought this was hilarious, that such funny little creatures take out Boba, and it would only happen in this state that he’s in. This lines up with Cobb Vanth’s story in the mandalorian season 2 with how he got the suit from the Jawas in the sand crawler. So now backstories are being visually explained.
Boba is left for dead on the sands of Tatooine, only to be rescued by the sand people, the tusken raiders tie him up, awaken him with their equivalent of smelling salts or ammonia, and make him walk back to camp. We’ve seen this type of thing where they tie a prisoner by the hands and pull them while on horseback, only now it’s Tuskens on Banthas. Very Wild West vibes, very barbaric and you’d expect nothing less from the Tuskens.
As he gets beat up by youngling tuskens, Boba wakes up again and is tied by the fireplace when he tries to work with the Rodian tied up next to him, who gives him away. and needs to make a break for it, he does so by pretending to break his ropes as the Mastiff sits watch. This was the dog equivalent to the Tuskens. Very rabid beats of Tatooine, however they were trained to be loyal to the Tuskens. Boba uses his smarts to lure the beast and knocks it out, using it’s fangs to cut his rope. This is all key stuff, Boba is very intelligent, he’s not just a good killer. As he’s chased into the desert, he has a fight with the kylo ren knights of red looking tusken who is ordered by the leader to fight Boba. Boba is tired and out played, losing.
This episode was awesome. I give it an 8/10 for explaining how he got out of the pit as well as what he's going through now, coupled with flashbacks.

I really loved this episode. It explained a lot without much dialogue. They used puppets just like in the originals and it felt very authentic. I can't wait for episode 2. They're really doing a good job building the character. I hope you enjoy this breakdown, it took a long time to make and I hope it explains a lot of things. Thanks for watching, and see you in the next video! (PS the thumbnail isn't a spoiler, we all know Boba survives the Pitt )

The Tuscan kid totally told the tribe that he killed the monster. Everyone is focussing on the youngling and is patting him on the back. No one looks at Boba (who arrived unchained). That is what made the final scene so great. Chief calls bullshit in the coolest way possible: by offering Boba a drink, wihout even looking at him.

You could say Boba was “kinder” in this episode than what we’re used to bc the events after the sarlac pit humbled him a bit. From being striped by Jawas and shackled by a CHILD tusken raider; he probably had some shock realizing he wasn’t the badass bounty hunter he knew he was. He didn’t have the respect in the flashbacks and had to earn it from the tuskens, so he may believe he needs to earn it again now as the succeeding crime lord.

One thing to point out: you call the mayor’s representative the “daimyo.” This is incorrect. He introduces himself as the mayor’s “majordomo.” Daimyo, which hasn’t been used in an official Star Wars context until now, was used to describe Boba’s position (the same daimyo position held by Bib and Jabba previously). This will likely be a major thread this season-“what does being the daimyo of mos espa entail?” // “are there other daimyos within the greater Star Wars universe?”-since it doesn’t really make sense that Boba has all these people supporting him without Boba having something important.

When I heard the word “daimyo” my mind went to feudal Japan.
@thahoule7924
@thahoule7924 2 года назад
daimyos usually served under a bigger lord, the "shogun". its likely jabba used to be the shogun. but after his death, his empire crumbled a bit, and bib fortuna merely rose to the title of daimyo again, while another crime lord claimed the title of shogun. either the mayor (very likely) or a yet-unnamed character. basically, while bib fortuna took jabbas spot in his syndicate, the new shogun took his spot in the larger criminal world as the biggest boss with the biggest empire.

I love how when he says he was "left for dead on the sands of Tatooine" we think he just traveled the desert but this episode shows that he literally experienced almost EVERYTHING that the sands of Tatooine have to offer. Beat up by Jawas, beat up by Tusken Raiders, heat exhaustion, crazy beast animal, annoying Rodian and Tusken Mastiff. He experienced everything short of a Krayt Dragon and STILL made it. Any normal person wouldve died.
@obiwankenobi687
@obiwankenobi687 2 года назад
To be fair, everything we saw him go through was pretty bog standard, nothing really tested him, I could see any strong enough character swapped in his place and being able to survive relatively easily. The only thing he excelled at was blasting his way out of the sarlaac pit, and that was only because he had his gadgets. As a normal bloke he was pretty useless, just seemed to get dragged and beaten up all episode. I never got “feared bounty hunter” from him at any point. He seems really watered down

I feel like youre right and they are showing weak and not at full strength instead of him being ruthless while going for Bounty's for the Empire. They need him to have some character development at least cus not many ppl know how much of a badass he truly is so they have to fully flush it out throughout the show
@olicc
@olicc 2 года назад
@@5xmasterx548 You have a good point: They are making him more realistic and less of a Jerry Sue; being that he's a main character now and not just a random bad guy, they need to make him more relatable... If everything was easy for him, he wouldn't truly have any conflict or growth for the show. but the difference between Fett and Rey is that Rey had zero training until EP9 and was just naturally good at everything, beating a Sith Lord in her first lightsaber duel. Fett was raised by Jengo to be a Mandalorian and then worked his way up the BH trade since he was a teenager. He slowly rose to be the most feared BH in the galaxy. I think they could have made him more powerful and just upped the threat levels. For example, his fight with the tusken... He got his ass kicked by one guy... They could of had him beat that guy... But then came another, and then two at once, then three at once... and he was just overwhelmed without his gear and being injured. And it would show that he was slowly earning the Tusken's respect with his feats and fighting spirit.

Such a great episode can't wait to see more of what's to come!! The flashbacks really did it for me. Episode 1 10/10

The patrons refer to Boba as the new "daimyo". The mayor rep is a majordomo, a person who speaks or makes arrangement for another.

I watched this episode multiple times. At first I was put off by how Boba was portrayed. There is a long standing understanding that Boba Fett is one complete badass, a one man army so to speak. That legend has everyone skewed. So to see him vulnerable is a hard pill to swallow for most fans of Boba. My favorite comic book has Boba saying few lines and conveying his personality through actions; that is what I think people were expecting. Reality is you cant have a series without dialogue and after my re-watch I was able to see Boba's character development clearer. I let go of my preconceptions and let the episode sink in. The reality is that Boba was more than just ruthless; he was intelligent. Boba Fett had to be smart on top of ruthless to earn his standing and reputation in the galaxy. This episode was good and I am looking forward to seeing the next one; I am in agreement with your take on this episode.

I couldn't imagine Boba as a crime lord leader, it should be very interesting his character development from a merc to a boss

I hope we see Cad Bane but in a flashback where it shows his duel with Boba that was never finished in the Clone Wars series, when he gets the iconic dent in his helmet.

I really hope that they go to Kamino in an episode, Temuera Morrison would do a great job making an emotional connection for Boba Fett going to Kamino

But why? I love the prequels, but that seems like too much fan service. Personally I think it only makes sense if we revisit Kamino only in flashbacks when Fett is recovering in his bacta tank. Even then I feel like it's pushing it when it comes to fan service, but it isn't overwhelming, yet.

Ngl, if he didn't already know it was destroyed, then what on earth has he been doing for 30 years... I doubt he'd not hear one single rumour of the place getting destroyed in that span of time. I'll admit, it would be nice to see him go back, but it wouldn't make sense to have him go back, it's not like it would be something he didn't know about, and if he didn't, then all it would do is leave more questions about how on earth he never found out in 30 years

This healing chamber into flashbacks and all the parkour reminded me of assassins creed . The chamber is like the animus (game version of course) haha

I agree, I think most people were expecting guns a blazing in ep 1, but we got that in Mando with Boba’s appearance. This answered questions we had for boba and learned more things going forward. I believe it’s going to start getting more hype with every episode going forward

That scene where he grabbed the shock baton and just slowly stood up and killed the guy while never breaking eye contact was my favorite scene.

I think a lot of the flashbacks to his time with the Tuscans will explain his present way of thinking in not having to be cold and ruthless at all times. And yes, maybe he also witnesses Mando teaming up with the Tuscans, earning their respect, and comes to more conclusions on how respect can win people over.

I’m gonna go on a limb and say that Boba learned the trade of negotiation and politics since the Tusken Raiders have multiple clans and do trade whether it is labor or goods.

100% agree with ur opinion. For me this was a A+ episode, like you said it covered what happened from Jedi on and a lot of plot holes that people speculated about and just weren’t too sure how he got free from the sarlac pit etc less they read it somewhere but to see his journey from there even in flashbacks. Loved loved loved it. Think this show will rock. Pray it’s a great start to 2022 and get rid of 2021
