Just remember that Bobba fett went home grabbed a rancor to fight off an army that had star ship shielded walking battle tanks instead of grabbing his fucking gunship… and somehow the rancor was able to run to town faster than he flew there.
It's trash. I've never been so disappointed in a show. I unsubbed disney after that garbage season finale. Exec. producer was KK. Once I saw that. Done.
I think it's because new star wars stories want to feature all new casts and plots, but they have to include classic characters because merch and recognition.
If they can’t even handle Boba Fett, a character who has this kind of show gift wrapped for him it’s so easy to accomplish properly, I shudder and dread to think about how badly they’re gonna screw up Kenobi.
Someone explained BOBF to me perfectly: They already gave Boba Fetts personality to "The Mandalorian" lead, so when it came time to make Book of Boba Fett they couldn't just rehash that show so they decided to turn Boba Fett into a kindly grandpa
The problem is they didn’t have to bring Boba Fett back if they wanted to make mando into a boba type character. They could’ve left boba out all together or just made reference to him without actually introducing him as a character in the Mandalorian. What it looks like now is they only brought him back to destroy the character and spit in all the old school fan’s faces just like they did with the other OT characters. The Star Wars universe is huge and they could create any number of new unique characters with compelling stories but they’d rather rehash and ruin the already beloved ones instead apparently.
Remember Boba Fett in Mandalorian S2. He was a badass who had actual anger in his eyes, didn't trust ppl right away, and got the job done professionally. When he wanted his armor back, he demanded it and went so far to threaten a child to get it back. What happened man, they got his character right in that show, but butchered him in his own show
Can't wait for the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" show where Obi-Wan only appears twice, makes stupid decisions, is replaced by a strong female lead as the star of the show, and a bunch of cameos of other characters for nostalgia :)
In order to “protect” the town.. they elect to have the battle in the middle of the town, rather than having the battle outside of the town in a fortress.. and in the process destroy and endanger the entire town.. fucking brilliant.
I found it HILARIOUS AF how many times the Wookiee character would get injured/being helped by 2 people to even walk....& then in the next scene he is running/shooting like he is fine....it happened like 3 freaking times during that final episode fight💯🤯🤮
And he's not just exhausted from fighting or cut up, they show his foot grotesquely twisted around, which is why he needs help to even move. It's like he took healing potions that only had temporary powers. Honestly, the most annoying and cheapest part for me was reuniting Grogu and the Mandalorian. They had Luke make that big speech last season about how "power without training is nothing," then have him leave with barely any training? Something tells me the Mouse stuck its diseased nose into the process and told them "PUT HIM BACK IN, WE HAVE CONSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMER MERCHANDISE TO PUSH!"
yeah, him and the rancor. incredibly lazy from once a good director. I mean, he did directed Alita: Battle angel, Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn... what happened here?
It should also be mentioned, if it hasn't been already: at 61 years old, Temuera Morrison is too old to play Boba Fett. According to the canon timeline, Boba is only about 10 years older than Luke Skywalker. This story is suppose to be set about 5 years after the fall of the Empire. That would make Luke about 30 and Boba around 40.
True. I get that they wanted to keep continuity but Morrison is simply to old and stocky now to play a charter who was young and slim only 2 weeks earlier.
I'm just never getting over the directive choice to have one of the side characters literally do a 360 spin and shoot in the same direction he was originally standing in....
I laughed so hard when, during the fight with Cad Bane, Boba kept saying “These are MY people “. Like, where the hell did that come from? There’s been basically no development to make Boba feel so attached to the town that he’d want to die defending it. Man this show was just not well written.
It was even funnier when the cyberpunk chick said “the people here need our protection” when the only interaction we’ve seen between the mods and the town is them vandalizing some dude’s property 😂
"These are my people." No Boba. They aren't. The show has established the Sand People were your people and has not established you having attachment to the town or the people in it in any way. And why would you have any emotional attachment to the town other than burning it to the ground after what it did to you? The Boba I know would do what he did to the people who murdered the Sand People. Burn it all down till there's nothing left.
@@ComicRaptor8850 if only they had the mods somehow redistribute the water maybe selling it at a reasonable price for them to be thieves albeit honorable.
The whole nicest crime lord thing is why I walked away from the show. A "Wicked"/"Maleficent" twist on the character felt stupid. Nice guys wouldn't last as the leader of murderous thugs.
It’s like if they made Tony Soprano into a really nice guy who talked calmly and respectfully to his associates and never raised a finger until no other option was available lmao
@@845835 I'm mostly referring to the 6 part YA Boba Fett books that detail his life from childhood into famed bounty hunter. One scene I remember was of him as a kid living with Jango on Kamino. He had a pet fish thing, and that pet eats mice things. He felt bad about feeding the mouse to the fish, so he tried to set it free. He then witnessed the mouse being eaten by something else.
The thing that really gets me was when this show first came out, people were defending the way Boba Fett’s character was by saying, “He’s an actual character now, instead of a random guy in a suit like in the OT.” Then by the time the finale came around, those same people were saying, “Well, Boba Fett’s not interesting enough to carry an entire show by himself” to excuse how mediocre and scatterbrained to entire plot was.
Honestly, this whole thing could’ve been side-stepped if they would’ve had him slimier when he was first captured by the Tuskan raiders. Maybe his soft spot for kids would’ve begun them liking him, then them taking him in, then him learning about community and becoming a better person. But what a fumbled opportunity to introduce Machete to the Star Wars universe and do absolutely nothing with him. A solid ass episode would’ve consisted of him and Boba doing some riding/training, testing it out on some new blood, etc. Those power ranger kids too.. yeesh.
And those same Disney Star Wars fans call anyone with any logical fair criticism of the show “trolls” or bigoted or other buzzwords journalists told them to say without any further points of reason it truly shows how far we’ve strayed from freedom of speech it’s bs Like heaven forbid anyone insult the multibillion dollar corporate conglomerate consuming us in a dystopian way
dave filoni better be careful or else the hire ups at Disney is going to misinterpret this as we need Katherine Kennedy back and we as fans do not want that.
A comment from IMDB I found to be accurate: "I'm in disbelief that a story about Boba Fett making a comeback could be so painfully dull. I have briefly enjoyed the introductions of some new characters and the Lawrence of Arabia homage episode, but the action is so boring. It feels like there's nothing at stake. The chase scene in the third episode was so terrible. I have not been so disappointed with Star Wars since Leia "used the force" to fly back into a ship."
Jesus man you must have a perfect life if this affects you so badly 😂😂 it’s a character who said 4 lines in a kids film 40 years ago. Who gives af. Like it’s literally not the end of the world. Dramatic heart broken gimp 😂😂
By far the worst, *worst* plot hole in the entire show is the timeline, more specifically “How long was Boba in the Sarlacc?”. The show made it seem like he fell into the pit and escaped not long after, I mean, he would’ve had to because there’s no (safe) food or water or, apparently, oxygen in a Sarlacc. But then how long was he with the Tuskens? Again, the show made it seem like he was with them for maybe a few months, a year max, before they got killed and he went out to find Slave 1 and his armor. The problem here is, The Mandalorian takes place *5 YEARS AFTER RETURN OF THE JEDI* . So where on Earth did 5 years worth of time go? Their explanation doesn’t make chronological sense.
Temuera Morrison (boba fett) is a massive Star Wars fan. He even said in interviews he didn’t understand the direction of the character. In the latter episodes he even told them he didn’t think bobs should be so approachable and nice. They didn’t listen.
temuera morrisson is literally the most intimidating actor in all of star wars, even more than samuel jackson. he could ring up disney and tell them to cancel star wars and sell it back to lucas and theyd do it. he just chooses not too
Mandalorian: spends 2 seasons painstakingly protecting Grogu and tracking down a jedi, because Grogu will only be safe with his own kind and when his training is complete, because the empire will never stop hunting him to exploit his power. Book of Boba: nevermind. Training's over. The kid picked the mythril. Off you fuck back to Mando. With no escort. It'll be fine.
That was the most cashgrab thing they had ever done. Mando s02 finale won't impact me that much anymore, compared to Ahsoka leaving the Order in TCW S05.
That was the climatic emotional gut punch. Mando letting Grogu go, even though it'll break his heart, because it'll keep the little fellow safe. The helmets off, lukes taking grogu away, and Mando is putting on a brave face, and fucking dying inside. But it's the only way. Grogu will forever be in danger if they stay together... that's sacrifice. Those are stakes. Until they arent and it isnt. Fuck me.
@@captbuckyohare5585 and they even manged to f*ck up Luke. Mindless "fans" are very glad Din and Grogu are back together but absolutely hiss at Luke, saying he was so "heartless" yada yada yada. It f*cked up potential character development for both Din and Grogu. My faith for Mando s03 has been shaken, I must admit.
"If a show requires you to watch another show just to fill in its own backstory, it's... (long pause) ...not a very good show." Absolutely. Yeah, writing a narrative that calls back to earlier events without making them critical to understanding current events isn't easy. Easy is everywhere. Easy loses my interest.
No, it's a GREAT show for it's intended purposes: creating a network of cross media content that FORCES you to consume ALL of it in order to truly understand ANY of it.
Thank you man, fuck...you defined exactly what Star Wars has become. Content for content's sake - not because anyone has anything really new, interesting or original to say within the franchise. It's a money pit. what's hilarious though is how you do have something relatively contemporary which shows how you can take an idea, expand on it without having to rely on rehashing old ideas and repackaging them or relying on name recognition to create an interesting, effective and well executed story. It's called 'Rogue One', and it continues to be the best thing Disney has done with Star Wars since they got it. (Mandalorian's pretty good too, but I still think Rogue One is more compelling, even at only around two hours).
Yep. Rogue one and the mandalorian are the only good things to come from all of these star wars projects. Its so sad. Disney's just pumping out crappy star wars content trying to milk every last dollar out of this fanbase that they can. How do they mess up a show with Boba Fett... a badass assassin that Darth Vader had respect for and never messed with.
@@coldwinter5428 God forbid Disney center a show around a 'bad guy'. They don't have the cobbles to do justice to characters like that - and yet, who are Star Wars most compelling characters? Smugglers, assassins, bounty hunters, Sith....
It’s even worse with the “if you watch the clone wars” argument, because as even shown in this video, Boba and Cad’s relationship is explored in UNFINISHED, UNRELEASED EPISODES.
Yeah they should have atleast finished that arc and put it in clone wars season 7. Then atleast for the people who watched the show they would get it more. Or you know half the show was flashbacks and two episodes were about mando and Luke. They could have just done it in a flashback.
Cad Bane looked great and seemed like he’d make a great villain but he was there and gone within an episode. Very little buildup - I had no idea who he was and had to be told by others about his reputation. The show should have told have told me that Now it appears that Bane and Banth are both coming back. This imo kind of kills the importance of the shows events if characters can be revived and brought back This show has too way too much plot armor
I still dont know what the f*ck they were thinking when instead of animating the ventress episodes , the obi wan and anakin episodes or the duel between boba and cad bane they decided to animate those stupid episodes with those stupid sisters . Damn those were bad .
And even that was bad. He spent one whole episode mindling a ship with that childish sidekick mechanic woman, and the other episode looking and waiting while deepfake Luke blabber some phrases to toy yoda while contradict himself from original movies.
@@ambientoccluser right? Baby yoda can lift giant hairy rhinos off the ground, heal poisonous wounds, and throw fireballs at stormtroopers but Luke is teaching him to lift frogs??? Fucking ridiculous.
@@leinonibishop9480 They also revealed so many mysteries I was anticipating Mandalorian season 3 for, like what's Luke been up to? baby yoda whereabouts and training? is he going to chose to be a jedi or a mandalorian? mando's adventures without him and his struggle to reunite with him? I just lost every reason I had to look forward to season 3. Bobf was no doubt a franchise killer.
You know it’s bad when there are bunch weebs defending this show simply because it has Disney and Star Wars slapped onto it. Sad to see how far Both have fallen
I subbed to his channel for about 3 days. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it took me that long to realize 90% of his videos was stuff he already talked about in previous videos haha
@@justinsbeaver9010 sometimes things he talked about earlier that day, no less. Watched a couple of his videos and then blocked it from my suggestions.
A wise reviewer once said "They explain everything to you because they dont trust you to come to your own conclusions and lack the chops to do it subtly".
It's this new trend to constantly show the origins of every tiny little thing. How did Boba get that staff? Let's make an episode explaining that. Very boring.
@@bujharvard9313 Still not seen a tv character go for a shit on the toilet though, its a shame the makers of bob fett didn't go for that TV's worlds first.
They should have gone full spaghetti western. Could you imagine if Sergio Leone directed Boba Fett? They could have cribbed the story right from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. It would have been gritty as hell. In Disney's version the cities in Tatooine looked like we're filmed at a amusement park. What could have been epic turned into another, all to common, piece of corporate sludge.
@@willishuntley9062 I loved seeing that! Sergio Leone was such a master of silence speaking volumes. It amplified the masculinity of the content, and made any spoken line super powerful. If they had translated some of that style to Boba Fett, it would have been much more gripping.

Problem is, Cad Bane went out like a bitch. Went from fighting against Obi Wan, Ahsoka and Anakin to being taken out by Boba Fett whose track record against Jedi is piss poor
This review is gold!! I compared this season to the many side stories in the first 2 seasons of The Mandalorian. It's just a really drawn out side quest for Din Djarin. The Mandalorian season 2.5 really.
God knows who decided to employ the creator of one of the worst movies ever made, 'Swingers', to head two Star Wars series. Should have got Simon Pegg in charge instead.
Surprised that Drinker didn't mention how Grogu's choice, and how rushed it was, completely undermines the first 2 seasons of the Mandalorian and emotional impact of the season 2 finale. Or how they essentially just used Luke to string us along, making us think something big would happen with him and Grogu. Seriously, episode 6 of this show just felt like the biggest metaphorical blue balls I've ever gotten from any film or show.
It should have been left unresolved until Mando s03. But more screen time means more mech sold.. I'm sure there was pressure to do this even tho it doesnt serve the story. It was worth commenting on, yeah...
By making Grogu "choose" means Jake Skywalker is canon. They had one chance to redeem the universe. Can't say it wasn't expected. Edit: spell correct thought it was funny and inserted cannon. 😂
4:31 it was his father's armor. It has a lot of significance to him. This was explored in the mandalorian and that episode. He might not need it, but he wants it.
Imagine how good the show could've been if they'd taken a Vince Gilligan approach and basically made Boba fett into breaking bad in space! Boba Fett - down on his luck surviving the sarlac pit and has to work himself back to the top, while the Empire that he knew is crumbling all around him and grim stuff happens and he can't trust anyone. Instead we get this dumb disney crap where everyone that tries to kill him turns into his friends for some reason, it's so incredibly dumb.
Here's at least two of the many MANY problems of Disney Star Wars. It has to play safe, cause they FUCKED with the Sequels. And it has to be family friendly, cause its on Disney+. You can do family friendly Star Wars, just not a character like Boba Fett. Nor can you play it safe with him. A character that amoral needs an amoral show.
I've always wanted a mature themed Boba Fett movie or series when he was in his prime. Not when he's old and tired. It should have been becoming the best bounty hunter in the galaxy and the choices he made (or maybe FORCED to make) that lead him into helping the Empire.
150% accurate I went in with the lowest imaginable expectations and yeh here we are as expected. On an up note it’s waaaay better than the sequel trilogy 🤮
Exactly! as a Star Wars fan I can’t even be that mad. I’d rather have more not so good content that doesn’t destroy the original characters then the sequels
I don't know how this is better than the sequel trilogy. As bad as those movies were, I could at least get SOME enjoyment while watching them. This show was dull and boring all the way through.
That “go away now” sounded like it hurt. Disappointing is a vast understatement to describe this show. As to how the best episodes and moments belong to other characters besides the titular Boba is mind boggling. Deathly afraid of what they’re going to do to Kenobi
Book of Fett is a perfect reflection of Disney's stuff: good moments and nothing more. It's lazy and disjointed. Cad Bane showed up just to get killed, the Mando episodes should be in Mandolorian season 3, and the Tuskan flashbacks distracted from the main story (and even if it was cool, they already did it in Mando AND it should've been more in the background). Disney has no discipline to save good stuff for when it's appropriate or to properly flesh out ideas before barfing them all over a fan film script. The Sequels were the exact same way, it wanted to tackle too many themes and they were either underdeveloped, contradicted, or presented along side too many other ideas to stand out. Shameful
I disagree with most of this, Cad Bane is probably not dead. Yes the Mando episodes should of been in mando season 3 but they were still good episodes, and I loved the Tuskan flashbacks. They were one of the only good parts of the show. The flash backs developed his character and did a lot of world building. Also the plot would make no sense without them lol.
@@protector9513 Good episodes? Where nothing happens, everyone says this is the way and Mando fixes his ship which is unsuitable for his job? Or the cameofest with no plot?
Add in "you need to see all this other content to know the characters". If I watched Mando only, I couldn't care less for Ahsoka Tano. Ditto for Bane. Bane's basically a throwaway muscle villain in the 2 EPs he barely shows up in. I'm not even sure if understanding the context works any better. Bane being in his late 60s and still bounty hunting and having nothing out of life could've been a great theme to underscore with contrast to Boba, instead of a throwaway line in their fight. Also, Bane has had his younger ass kicked by Fennec in Bad Batch, so I don't even know why he is here. He's been beaten multiple times already, just let him die. There's no shortage of bounty hunters.
You kind of summed up my feelings on the whole show in just the first minute, a short storyline stretched into 7 episodes, I didn't even care that they had downgraded him a bit to be more of an 'older but still got it' kind of character, heck even at the end I thought "Well this is just the first wave the guild will likely keep coming back until they eventually have an epic showdown" But then Fennec killed all of that hope, quite literally, if they do make a second season I'd want more Boba Fett, fewer side plots for unrelated characters, and if you are going to old man direction, focus more on his organization and how he runs/impacts Tatooine, that's honestly all I wanted. Honestly, this kind of just put my faith in Disney's Star Wars right back where it was 3 years ago with Rise of Skywalker, I just want to be able to enjoy the stuff that comes out from Star Wars, my only hope rn is Kenobi and maybe Rogue Squadron, other than that I got not much more to hope for.
I really hope this show gets a chance at redemption. The concept of an old mobster/mafia movie inspired show about Boba Fett still has loads of potential, it just needs to be done by anyone other than the guy who made Spy Kids 4 and Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
I guess Rogue One is the best thing Disney has done so far and as far as the recent sequels goes they are terrible in every possible way. My hope is they don’t screw up anymore characters because Boba fett is done dude it’s so shitty it’s not even worth another season
I’ve literally lost hope with Star Wars at this point. Even that ending felt so empty, with Mando and Grogu reunited already even before season 3 of The Mandalorian even started! Essentially rendering the first two seasons of The Mandalorian devoid of any meaning or emotional value.
Uhh what? The show is called the Mandalorian. Not grogu becomes a jedi after being found by a mandalorian. Your just gonna ignore all the character growth huh? Din is grogu dad now
I don't even remember him having too much particular character growth. He barely actually changed his attitude towards Grogu. If anything this is more like him not being able to let go, and seeming far more immature because of it. Instead of leaving Grogu with his kind, and genuinely doing what might be best for him in the long run despite his own feelings. He instead just snatches him away again, just a few months or so later. That's also not to mention the fact that Luke would have Grogu make such an INSANELY drastic literal life changing decision while he's still an infant who only was with him in particular for such a short time.
We needed Boba to be like Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven;" a man who we know has done terrible things, is still capable of doing terrible things, but is trying to become a better man. The show started off fine with the first two episodes....but then went off track. We needed to see more of Boba coming to terms with who he was. When he went into the Sarlacc Pit he was a ruthless bounty hunter, now all of a sudden he wants to be the benevolent overlord of Mos Espa...why? The show just turned into an "expanded universe" vehicle for them to generate hype of different projects that they are working on instead of focusing on the show itself.
100% agree. Unforgiven with Boba would also be a great addition and play off of Mando becoming like his character in Expanded Universe Boba Fett. That way it also could show how Mando would end up paralleling Boba Fett so much.
No kidding, when I heard the name Bib Fortuna spoken for what must (in my own personal timeline) be the first time in at least three decades, the hair stood up on the back of my neck. Thanks, Drinker, for a tiny moment of blissful nostalgia, a flickering glimpse of the world of Star Wars that I once loved. Such moments are truly rare and to be treasured.

Yeah, and the character is only 40-41 years old. Tem is 60 and looks it. Somehow Boba aged 20 years and gained 40 lbs. in the hours or day he was in the Sarlacc pit. Did he eat his way out?
Same as the OT characters in The Force Awakens. Everyone was too distracted by the memberberries to not be embarrassed for FAT Botox Princess Leia, nursing home Solo, and “get off my lawn!” Skywalker.
You can’t blame the actor for boba he did the best with what he had to work with. He even expressed his dissatisfaction of the script in a later interview
he loves the fetts and is a huge fan of what they are and it’s just lame they could have made the game “bounty hunter” into a show and it would have fuckin ripped
Just before Han Solo gets frozen, Boba Fett gets right in Darth Vader’s face because he’s worried Vader’s experiment will kill Solo before he can get his bounty. The Boba Fett in this tv show was not the same man as the one who stood up to Darth Vader
That "go away now" really caught me off guard. It really tells how The Drinker is tired and frustrated at today's entertainment machine and we all feel the same way.
It made me cringe. The Drinker as a character is better with the deadpan hungover vibe to him, and the way he delivered the end line reminded me of a bratty teenager.
This time when he said, “go away now”, I felt it in my kidneys. What makes it so much worse is that there could have been a good story here. When Boba Fett was sitting by the campfire telling Agent May that he is tired of working for idiots who are going to get him killed, I believed him. Tell that story. I even believe that as a crime lord he would not want to hurt civilians for no reason. He was a PAID killer, not a psychopath who enjoyed cruelty for its own sake. But he 100% shouldn’t have been a weak-willed, passive sissy who allowed his rivals and his underlings to disrespect him at every turn. When the crime families asked why they shouldn’t just gang up against him with the Pykes, he should have fed one of them to the rancor. His underlings should have been AFRAID to contradict him. That would allow him to show maturity and wisdom by convincing them to speak up so he could draw on their knowledge and make informed, strategic decisions. In other words, be a leader. That would be better than everyone constantly back talking him like obnoxious teenagers giving moronic ideas while he just hangs his head and goes along with whatever. Pathetic. It COULD have been great in the right hands. 😡
Agreed when the leader of the go go scooter rangers questioned his motives when he recruited them he should have gunned her down right there in front of them. Instead we get like 5 more episodes of her disobeying and contradicting him. The one thing Boba Fett did right is recruit both Krysantann and Fennic to his side.
Part of the appeal of the character was his mysterious persona. Now Disney have fkd that up too. I 110% agree that they could have made a Fennec show instead as she's the proper antihero.
It's crazy. For so long I thought I wanted more Star Wars and then Disney bought it and we actually got more Star Wars...and then I realized how wrong I was. The way they just keep butchering the franchise is truly sad.
It's strange but despite my hate for alot of various legends stuff, it seems like some of the lesser works of it are still better then the best stuff canon has to offer at this point. So if you do want more star wars I really do recommend going into the Expanded Universe/Legends stuff to scour for interesting things. Think there was even an actual comic regarding Boba coming out of the Sarlacc Pit.
It's the inverse of Jake Skywalker, where he became a bitter bastard for no reason. Boba Fett's story here is even more tragic and could have worked, but somehow seeing a whole new family brutally slaughtered made him a wuss instead of sent him on a brutal rampage? The ingredients were right there. This could have been a fun, Riddick-esque romp where he ends up in command just because he's slaughtered everyone else in the chain, but that means he would have to make decisions and be cool. Plus having the moral ambiguity of whether he's going to be a good leader at the end isn't allowed in Disney Star Wars
To be fair, he did gun down the speeder bike gang, which as of now is the most recent cool scene in the show. But yeah, he's kind of a puss, and not at all like his original character.
you are 100% spot on, Mando Season 2 left with me believing that Boba Fett was going to be different from the usual Disney heroes, like an actual crime boss, a Star Wars version of a leader with knowledge like Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders or Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings, someone who's cunning, cool and somewhat ruthless (not super dark or anything, but at least smart and street-wise) but nope, Disney does what Disney gotta do, they just outright refuse to do any story that doesn't involve some 'good guy community vs faceless invading forces', by episode 7 Boba Fett is the kind of guy who lets others plan his battles and the only thing he does in return is agree to everything they say
You know you fucked up Boba Fett when you watch episode 5 and think Mando was being harsh for slaughtering backroom poker game enjoyers because it's Mando and Mando shouldn't be so cruel and it's more cruel than anything Boba did the whole season.
I always thought of Boba along the same lines as The Man With No Name, but your bringing up Riddick sounds just as good. :) I still remember Pitch Black and the third movie well -- ahem, I've heard too much shit about the second one to even give it a glance -- so it's not hard to see Boba being just as much of a bad-ass, but with a heart of gold he'd only show to one or two other characters so they (and the audience) get him. It wouldn't be difficult to write an anti-hero like that!
that was a heartfelt 'go away now!' Makes me think that the level of viciousness of your traditional parting words is a true reflection of how you feel about the show under discussuion :)
Watching this a year later, I forgot almost all of the scenes you used in the video, that pretty much speaks for itself, sadly. I can say the exact same about Obi-Wan and that isn’t as old as this. Glad I finally listened to my wife and canceled our Disney Plus yesterday before it renewed, I wish they had a “all the new content is trash” option for why are the you canceling question.
The state of Robert Rodruigez is actually rather tragic, as he wasn't just a Creative and High-Energy Filmmaker, but he was easily one of the MOST Creative and High-Energy Filmmakers for like 18-20 years, to the point that one could almost assume he suffered from some kind of Filmmaker mania! Then suddenly... it just stopped. His film count went down to a crawl, he stopped performing certain functions that he would always do himself, like Editing and Musical Score, and NONE of his movies now have the hours of fun bonus content that he would Host -- I sometimes bought movies of his I didn't even care for just because of his Commentary tracks and his 10 Minute Film School extras. Now, it's like he's just some guy who shows up to work to get the job done - that's it. Yeah, Alita was a good flick, but it actually didn't feel like one of his movies at all, and honestly I think a lot of why it worked was because he thought that making the movie would be an interesting endeavor, and even then, Alita still had a lot of 'Point-And-Shoot' moments in it. Seriously, it's like he became disillusioned with the craft, and while most Hollywood burnout stories are entertaining, this one just makes me depressed.
Correct me if I am wrong but maybe working for fucking disney, the company that tries to maximize the profits on fun, has something to do with the bland sterilization of it all.
@@candideggplant1575 I don't doubt that this made it vastly worse, especially when it comes to Boba Fett, but you can already start to see it with Machete 2 -- that movie is a fusion of what he used to be, and what he is now, like he lost interest in the medium half-way through pre-production of that movie.
@@candideggplant1575 I know it's easy to blame Disney. But at the same time, we can only judge what we see and the fact of the matter is Robert dropped the ball with both of his episodes for Boba and essentially doomed it further to failure.
The marvel TV shows on Disney+ are beating the shit out of Star Wars TV shows in their viewer numbers, critical score and audience score it's not even funny. It should've been another way around.
No, it did more than that... Look at Grogu. This is a character that is a baby... at *fifty* *years* *old*. Disney wants something cute, but has... this. It is just stupid. And this is the same species as Yoda, meaning Yoda was like this for at least fifty years. They have managed to trash up Yoda as well, for goodness sakes. This is how bad these people are. It isike they hired as writers chimpanzee interns, and fed them LSD to inspire them. I cannot express just how much I am shocked that Disney has messed up the storytelling.
The show should've had a gritty tone and been R rated. Story should've been like Star Wars Bounty Hunter. Have Boba find a new employer and pursue a challenging bounty that leads him into a galaxy wide conspiracy. He clashes with rival hunters for the prize (IG 88, Bossk, Dengar) across several interesting planets, like Jango and Montross did. Have him not be in his prime at the start due to Sarlaac injuries, but then eventually come out on top in the end. Star Wars shouldn't be kid friendly. I was a kid when I first saw Empire and I loved it straight away. Didn't need Ewoks, Jar Jar, or those weird things on Luke's planet to modify the tone and make me comfortable to watch it.
Not everything needs to be R rated, and Star Wars was always a franchise meant for everyone, not just adults. The Ewoks weren't that bad, they served a purpose in the narrative, and JarJar, while annoying...yeah, no, he was just annoying, I am still baffled he managed to get a girlfriend for some reason. But still, I don't think an R rated Star Wars film would work that well, unless it's Old Republic Era, where monsters like Darth Nihilus and characters like Darth Revan exist.
@@tea-sus8722 He did an interview where he complained about the character talking too much. It gets even better, as during said interview he ends up being cut-off by his co-star and the interviewer, who look visibly worried about him speaking out of turn about Star Wars.
@@tea-sus8722 He said that he had spoken to Favreau in an interview that he thought Boba was speaking too much and should be more of a mysterious character, which is about as much as he could get away with like Hamil’s “Jake Skywalker” comments before him.
I watched this review right after finishing the show. I'm so confused that I can't feel angry, I guess I'm just disappointed. As a kid, Boba was that mysterious badass bounty hunter dude who had a jetpack. I didn't really get any of that vibe here, the whole thing kinda felt super rushed and unplanned for sure.
I gave it a chance till the last episode when we had a teenage girl telling Boba Fett what to do and he buckled to her emotional demands instantly, even tho defending the palace would have been much easier. Boba is not a bad ass if he can be ordered around by a EMO looking teenage girl who rides a bright red Vespa.
I'm sure you've seen the " stop and listen to the white woman " speeches many of times. It's just now your getting tired of it lol. This has been around for 30 years. Lmao the have been feed that they have this power that they must be heard and indeed think it's their right after being shown in movies it being done ( edit ) like every time. Just look back you'll see it.
Funny that her demands put the entire city at risk because she decided to having a turf war at Mos Espa instead of the middle of the desert at Boba's Palace was a better idea.
@@jeffj3213 I did too, I gave it a full season (maybe its full run who knows) because I WANTED it to be good. even if you watch the whole thing you can then decide, and arguably better so, that it is of quality or lacking quality.
Can't believe you didnt mention the fact that this "Skilled Bounty Hunter" continually keeps taking off his helmet and walks around making him one easy target. Plausible for sure!
He wants people to trust him (rule by respect not by fear). People don't usually trust or respect masked criminals. Revealing his face, shows that he trusts those people, so they are more inclined to trust him back.
I was a lifelong SW fan. I collected Boba Fett memorabilia (any size or type, I didn't care) from 1981-2021. This show made me pack up my Boba Fett collection (several GIANT tote boxes) that I built over 40 years & toss it in my garage like a bag of old newspapers. Minor to some, heartbreaking to me.
I think we need another episode of “The Drinker Fixes” to give us your take on what this show should have been, even if you felt that it shouldn’t have been made in the first place I still want your take.
@@WaxTheDolphin I know but the original premise of a bounty hunter deciding to become a gang boss sounds like an interesting idea I just want to see how I’d be if he acted like a real gang boss
The whole setting seems so forced. Boba Fett, the most dangerous bounty hunter of the galaxy, decides to settle down and become mayor of a town on a shitty desert planet in the outer rim, and is willing to fight to the death over this town, which, as far as we know, he has no connection to whatsoever. He talks about protecting its people all the time, when he knows none of them and they don't know him besides him turning up and deciding to rule them. I loved Bobas story with the Tuskens, seemed like a fitting thing to do after almost dying at the hands of the Sarlacc and so on, but the arc in the present is just beyond forced. Boba Fett is a man who was raised to be an unscrupulous killer who only looks out for himself. He and his father before him have only ever known war and death. He has made his living on war and death. And now, he just decides to settle down and become mayor of a random town, which he at the same time cares enough about to fight a small war over? This might have been a decent story for someone else but it spits in the face of everything Boba Fett was. The only times I thouroughly enjoyed the show was when he was going crazy swinging his gaderffii, grimacing like a maniac. THAT is what this show should have been because that is what Boba Fett always was. They could even have done a bit about him killing all the time and being a psychopath while slowly coming to see that something else was possible, similar to what they did with Mando at certain points. There were even elements of that with the Tuskens, it was just never explored further. But they just did a complete 180 on the character without any explanation.
The setting is forced? Do you realize people get old and yes they settle down. You with your 12 year old mind may think that he can go on bounty hunting forever but time catches up with us all. The only thing that's forced about this is your opinion.
@@MrWizards1974 Don’t be mad fan boy keep consuming the trash being produced by Disney Star Wars but don’t complain when you get diabetes 😂 the show is garbage period. @@MrWizards1974 So you picked one of his arguments and think that making a case against it invalidates everything else that was said? And I too do not think that Boba Fett would settle down and look at sunsets everyday. He'd find other people to do his bidding when he'd get too old or would just go out with a bang.
The whole tusken part was to show him that being in a group make you stronger. His ties are jabba the hut his old boss. He is a bounty hunter who likes money so taking over jabba business would net him money and he doesn't have to risk his life anymore he can have minions do that for him. His father said "im just a simple man trying to make my way through the galaxy" clearly not the mind set of a cold blooded killer. if you only care about the original you probably dont give a shit but for people who like the original and the prequel its not that bad and make alot of sense. Not saying its a 10/10 but its also not trash.
Finally watched this, it was pretty disappointing. In particular, I think bringing the Mandalorian back in was a big mistake IMHO. The time would have been much better spent bringing the sand people back into the plot. I think Boba Fett unites the Clans would have been a better plot than the one they did.
That was the obvious play given the way he helped the Tuskens break out of their shell a bit and would have solved the disbelief I had at how small his force was for holding down AN ENTIRE CITY.
God those bright colored scooters just make absolutely no sense in that setting..... Fenec had one of those bolts installed when she went Cyborg which is why she follows his orders. XD
The Mando episode was just one big reminder of what I'd rather be watching. & the funniest part about this show was the female mechanic that said she can slap together an intergalactic space cruiser faster than any other out of junk & scraps only bc she slept w/ a Jawa once. That's the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard. Me & my kid hav been using that as a running joke ever since. I dated a garbage sand dwarf so obviously that means I can travel thru space & time. Or I saw a Bigfoot once so now I have night vision. U could literally make up anything & make up the most absurd justification for it. Lol
to be fair, we did learn that the jawas are hairy lmao I'm joking of course. I did actually like the naboo ship being repaired tho, even if it made no sense that they found all the parts they needed to replace in Tattoine in like a few hours or something.
You say this but forget bad writing is a plague that has infested all of tv and movie productions now. Hollywood can't even produce content from already written narrative! Just look at the abomination of the Wheel of Time on Amazon, the Shanarah Chronicals and so on. Wokism has infected everything.
You can tell just how drinker really feels about this show in the way he tells us to Piss off at the end. I feel you, Drinker. I really wanted this to be good.
Me too. I kept lying to myself over and over thinking it satisfied me enough but it just didn’t. It had awesome Star Wars content and flash but when you think deeper, the show is flat out all over the place and defeats the whole purpose of the name of the show itself lol. I’m glad they brought Cad in live action but he should have been in with more screen time, same goes with Boba.
We all did brother, we all did Apart from Temura, Ming-Na and the Twilek guy, no one else could act worth a lick of spit, the baddies just jobbed harder than a wrestling heel and the directing was utter rubbish
since you had to use the big mac analogy for describing these kinds of productions, I'm now referring to them as fast food films or series. that's all they've felt like and I'm glad someone was able to put that into words.
The music/visual aesthetic was certainly high, but I was unimpressed with the other aspects of the show. The plot was meandering and rudderless, feeling both predictable and scattergun at the same time. It also seemed inevitable that the protagonists would succeed regardless of what they came up against, which really removes all stakes and sense of suspense. Some continuity errors were noticeable as well. Choosing to end Cad Bane with the whole villain-monologues-allowing-hero-to-turn-the-tables routine was also a disappointing end for his character. Overall very meh for me.
Honestly, my stance with the show was "waiting for the pay off". Boba was being slow, reluctant even, to take any major actions. I was waiting for the pay off where Boba finally has enough, and finally steps into his old ways. But that pay off never came. The writers clearly either had no clear direction, nor desire to really push any boundaries. So I was left with a resounding, "is that it?"
This isn't Boba fett it's Disney's Woka fett.....Boba fett represents toxic masculinity so they had to tone him down a notch.....I will never grace eyes opon another star wars project for the rest of my life......and fuck Disney for what they have done....what a total joke and waste of time and money
These are the streaming wars. Cutting back on: production time, crew size, re-editing, and writing. I watched a few of the EFAP videos on Fett and typed in something similar. Then, I made fun of the name because the show simply doesn't feel what the character should represent. A bounty hunter should stay a bounty hunter.
Book Of Boba Fett managed to do something that I didn't think was possible: make me miss the far better bounty hunters like Jango Fett & Durge. it also makes me wish we'd rather follow more interesting bounty hunters like Dengar, IG-88, 4-Long & Zuckuss, and/or Bossk. but at the same exact time, I'd rather not have Disney and/or Lucasfilm touch any of those characters since they would just fuck them up with bad writing and character assassination.
The irony is that even the Disney SW comics have done a better job with Boba than his in show did. He's actually a bit of a badass, not on the level of his EU counterpart, but he's at least competent.
@@jeggsonvohees2201 I don't read anything from Disney Wars, especially after hearing at a local Target what the characters were in The High Republic which just screams laziness. the only things I've liked from Disney Wars were some of the spaceship designs and the new trooper variants. that's it. but that's all production value, and that's not enough to salvage this colossal pile of Mancubus Sploodge.

"I does nothing, it says nothing, because ultimately it is nothing." So true and it makes me sad. After watching The Mandalorian, I had such high hopes for this show. What an unbelievable let down. Lucas should buy this franchise back from Disney before they completely destroy it.
After finishing the finale Wednesday, it struck me as so mishandled that I concocted an entire series plot just to sort out how it could/SHOULD have been done. I kept some of the parts since they work in their own right, but re-framed them to address overall pacing. So here you go Drinker and his fans, let me know if you agree. First lets eliminate a few useless things, no flashbacks and no Mandalorian season 3 episodes. Second, lets organize it into three acts with three episodes in each act. This works well and allows for the following basic structure. Act 1 - The Return of Bob Fett Ep1 - The Sarlac - Where he escapes the Sarlac, is captured by the Tuskans and subsequently earns their respect saving the kid. Not much changes here. This works for the opening. Ep2 - The Tribe - Where he beats up the bikers, takes the speeders, and they stop the train, anger the Pikes, and he is inducted into the tribe. Ep3 - The Ship - Where he saves Fennec, gets his ship, and reveals a secret tracker for his armor so he can go get it from Mando. OF Course he has a secret tracker for his armor secreted in the ship. It is all he has left of his father and it has infinite value to him. This also explains how he found Mando with the armor since that plot hole needed to be filled. Note: We reuse all the Tuskan stuff to show how he spent those 5 years but not as flashbacks, just tell the damn story cleanly and indicate the time passing FFS. Also, the Pikes are smuggling WATER. Tattoine is a DESERT planet so water should be the most valuable thing there. This also allows us to tell the story of why the Tuskans hate off worlders who have been taking the water for so long that the planet is a fucking desert at this point. We also get to name them the Sarlac Tribe since they control the area around the Sarlac. This leaves tons of room for other cool stuff. End this Act with Boba taking the palace with the aid of the Tuskans and shooting Bib Fortuna. The Tuskans are NOT killed by the Pikes so we can use them later. Desert power, damn it! Act 2 - The Rise of Boba Fett Ep4 - Mos Pelgo - Where Cob Vanth has a problem with speed bikers harassing town, hears of Bib's murder and seeks out Boba for help, Boba puts his armor on and blows the shit out of some bikers with his ship, and we see Jawas scavenging their speeder bike parts. Cob allies himself with Boba, Mos Pelgo is now under his control. The Krayte Tribe of Tuskans near Mos Pelgo also join his side. Ep5 - Mos Eisley - Where we find the Twins have been hiding since the fall of Jabba and Nau Hutta which is now controlled by Crimson Dawn. Here the Twins and Water Mongers have control since they are selling the water off world. They hear of Boba killing the biker gang as we see the mods getting cool speed bike parts from some Jawas. This inspires them to hire Krysanten to assassinate Boba. That plays out the same except Tuskans replace the go go vespa rangers. He puts his armor on, goes to Mos Eisley, shoots the shit out of some corrupt water mongers, captures the lead water monger, and subsequently spares the Twins, who swear allegiance to him out of fear. Boba puts the lead water monger in Carbonite as a warning to others. Since he earned their respect the Twins send him the Rancor and leave Krysanten with him. He hires Krysanten rather than just let him go. Mos Eisley is now under his control. Ep6 - Mos Espa - Where we find the Pikes, Trandoshans, Water Mongers, and Garsa Fwip call the shots. The Water Mongers work with the Pikes to steal and smuggle water. The Trandoshans provide security forces and Garsa provides information and 'entertainment'. The lot of them convene to assess things since Mos Eisley and Mos Pelgo have fallen to Fett. Garsa offers to seek parlay with Boba but the others disagree. The meeting ends with a rift there. Garsa secretly seeks parlay with Boba, by sending the speeder bike mod gang to speak with him. The mod gang has real speeder bikes that look awesome made from the parts we saw earlier. Garsa uses the gang to communicate and keep tabs on everything. Boba agrees to parlay at the Sanctuary knowing full well it is a trap. They go in, he wears his armor, Garsa is betrayed by the others, Boba and crew shoot their way out and survive with Garsa's help and the mod gang. They capture the Trandoshan leader in the process. Boba puts his ass in Carbonite as an example for the others. Mos Espa is on high alert. Act 3 - The Word of Boba Fett Ep7 - The Palace - Where we take a break from things and spend some time at the palace to see how it is maintained by the droids, Tuskans, and Rancor master. This episode mostly follows Rancor Master Trejo who mostly runs the palace for Boba. We see Boba training to ride the Rancor some, Fennec and Krysanten organizing the defenses with the Tuskans, the Droids doing the cooking and such, the Tuskans help hunt for food for the Rancor, some of them 'adopt' the Rancor to become the 'Rancor Tribe', Trejo strikes up a friendship with Garsa while visiting the Sanctuary, and they all discuss Boba's honor as a leader and his rep as a killer. The relative peace comes to an end when Garsa is brutally murdered by the Pikes in front of Trejo who escapes back to the palace on speeder bike. The Pikes are sending a message. Ep8 - The Starport - Where we see the Pikes landing and offloading stuff at the star port in Mos Espa. Now that Garsa is dead the mods send word back to Boba apprising him of the situation. Boba leaves Fennec in charge to go call in a favor off world. Fennec plans out how to cripple the star port and destroy the incoming armor and munitions. Boba returns but gives no details of his trip. We also see other crime factions in this buildup including members of Crimson Dawn, some combat droids, and more Trandoshan muscle. The star port looks heavily guarded. Boba dons his armor, they execute Fennec's plan, blow the shit out of the star port, burn a perimeter around it, and leave it in ruins. Everyone returns to the palace. The stage is now set for the final confrontation. Ep9 - The Fall - Where we see the remaining crime lords of Mos Espa around a table planning their revenge on Boba. They have hired all the muscle they can, and speak of heavy war machines they got from Crimson Dawn. Plan an assault on Boba's Palace with what appears to be overwhelming force. We see Boba and Fennec discussing what to do with the whole crew. Everyone wants to sack the city now, but Boba wants to wait and prepare his forces for attack. He holds firm but allows Fennec and Krysanten to organize Tuskan raiders for battle. He orders them to prepare for battle just outside the city so as to limit further damage to it. Fennec balks at this but relents. Some time passes while The Pikes, Trandoshans, and Water mongers amass their forces. Boba contacts the Pikes offering them a chance to surrender but they do not. Fearing for time they order their troops to move. Cut to Boba who gets a message by beeper. He dons his helmet and orders Fennec to 'begin'. Cut to the outer wall of the city, where the Pike's troops are moving out of the city walls. As they leave we pan out to see two huge groups of Tuskan raiders on each flank of the Pikes. Boba flies Slave-1 overhead and bombs the leading armored vehicle. This is the signal. All hell breaks loose as the Tuskans converge. We cut to a small group of Trandoshans who break away from the Pikes, and see that one of them is Bosk who tipped Boba off to attack. The Pikes suffer heavy losses until they roll out the Annhilator Droids. The droids push the Tuskans back into the desert, and things look bad until they cross over some mines which take out the droid shields. Then Boba comes riding on on the Rancor and tears the droids apart. As they win the day, Boba locates the leader of the Pikes, captures him and takes him to the top of the city gates using his jet pack and grappling line. He then disintegrates the Pike leader in front of all to see, turns to the masses and say, 'I am Boba Fett, and my Word is Law!' Cut to credits. Mid-credits we see a small group of very well prepared rouges murder their way into Boba's Palace. Inside they are taking the carbonite trophies off the wall and moving them out. As they move out we see Qira remove her mask to survey the palace as they steal the trophies. End of season 1. Important production note: Boba talks first to see if there is a potential solution and when that fails he dons his armor and people die. This is the main theme of his character. First peace, then force and always in that order. This instills fear but also promotes respect. It also lets the audience know that when he puts the helmet on, shit is gonna get real. This works beautifully for his character and allows him to develop in both ways. It also allows him to be cunning and a bad ass for the story. There you go. I'm no writer and put that together in less than a day. So Disney has ZERO excuse for shitting the bed on this one. Let me know what you think if you got here. Thanks for indulging me.
@@CultureWatcher5000 Consider this: this way, the story is more a 50s gangster flick mixed with a spaghetti western in the Star Wars universe. It is an 'outdated' genre and is literally setting western culture 'back' in time. At least this is what we'll tell them, yup...
I’m glad to see that other people create alternative plots for fundamentally broken stories. It’s a great writing exercise that helps one realize the importance of cutting out the fat.
I haven't actually watched the show to be honest, but this sounded pretty kickass, hats off to you, friend. It makes me wonder how to possibly involve Cad Bane in this, maybe have him as a minor character for now, possibly to hint at his rivalry with Fett but make it more nuanced? Make it so they don't just want to kill each other, they are rivals in that both of them are the best at their own style of crime and they do work to stay the best. Could be that he is the one Boba convinced to help during the attack instead of Bossk. Maybe there could be a scene during the Palace episode briefly showing Cad Bane coming or going from the palace, either dropping off a bounty or actually being given a contract by Boba for something they need. It could work for multiple reasons. It could show that they are willing to work together but the conversation is still tense, though not hostile. Professional but not friendly. Have a little moment where they go "Fett?" "Bane?" at each other to show recognition and respect but also suspicion and weariness. The other reason it could play into Fett's character arc of settling down and turning from wandering gun to crime lord. It could be shown how weird he feels hiring someone to do work for him to give the impression he's capable but leading gangs and managing mercenaries instead of doing the work himself is still new to him.
Having a show where boba worked for the hutts for a while before growing weary of their methods and developing this new caring character would have been a better way to get where they clearly wanted him to be.
This one hurts. Out of ALL of Star Wars Lore, Boba Fett must be the easiest character to do right. Robert Rodriguez's bubblegum bullsh*t directing was so mismatched it actually took me out of the show while watching it. Boba would have been better off being left alone, he is ruined now.
I mean he's not ruined, since we don't technically have to watch any more of Star Wars afterwards (considering he'll be in more content). But still pisses me off because this thing is canon. Like actual canon and you can't take it back. I haven't watched it, but everyone, with the exception of a few people, hate this show for all the reasons outlined by the Drinker.
Yeah, Fennec was cool in advisory role in order to play off of Boba and give him ideas, but once she started barking out orders and telling people what to do over Boba, the dynamic was thrown off.
Fennecs lines to Boba, where she constantly calls him weak, remarks on his lack of resolve and ruthlessness, is Jon Favreau being self-aware that he is purposely butchering Bobas character since he is writing the script. This is what Rian Johnson did to Luke all over again... Sprinkled with a touch of feminist propaganda i.e they diminish Boba to elevate her. She serves no purpose in this show, they dumb Boba down to give her dialogue, they make him incompetent as a warrior to give her action scenes, she should have stayed dead in Mando. Also Boba already has known Associates Dengar,Bossk and IG-88 ect. But instead we get Fennec and the Clown rangers scooter hipster gang.
@@SagaciousNihilist A lot of the lines Fennec got were because Temaru Morrison thought Boba was talking too much. Which, by default, had Fennec taking the lead. Having Boba make a cameo in episode 6 where all he did was nod while she ran things was not a strong character choice for Boba at all.
The story in The Book of Boba Fett remains me the Star Wars stories I was creating myself... when I was 12 years old... running with a wooden stick and pretending it's a lightsaber...
this is literally why all those "Halloween" sequels that were attempting to provide more details about Michael Myers' "backstory" were so flawed. because just like with Boba Fett, there is no need for such a backstory and he's actually scarier as the real-life incarnation of the Boogeyman without it.
It's sad because the Boba from legends was genuinely good for the same reasons they tried to emulate here. He settled down, lived a peaceful life, had kids. He even trained leias daughter to fight. A boba story about him looking for peace is fine, but this isn't him. He is supposed to be the John Wick of space, not whatever he was here
Expanded Universe had some turds, but it also treated legacy characters mostly with respect and had some sensational new asskickers. I also miss Dark Horse comic book badasses like imperial guardsman Kir Kanos and Empire's James Bond, Jahan Cross...Disney truly decimated Star Wars.
My biggest problem right away was, there is no way someone who was skinny going into a sarlac pit, then captured and held prisoner, is that fricking fat.
6,000 comments. Damn! This one will go unread. My two cents: It's my fault that my interpretation of the title meant that we would be looking back at Boba Fett's life, from when his father died to the time of the Sarlac. Fett could have been portrayed as that edgy character I think we all were hoping for. With clever writing it could have been unclear if Fett's story ends at the Sarlac. This ambiguity could have continued into a second season. I don't know why Disney felt the need to create this warm and fuzzy Fett. He should have been a jaded, cold, edgy character but also with redeeming qualities when presented with certain moral challenges. Bounty hunters are not intrinsically bad or evil but it takes a certain type to do the job. That could have been explored in this show. So many missed opportunities. Disney in a nutshell these days.
I'd honestly much rather watch your version than Disney's version, let's be honest it's really not the absolute worst thing Disney have done to star wars that title still belongs to the last jedi but I'll be honest it's up there as one of the worst the episodes that were basically episodes of the mandolorian season 3 were actually pretty good as they built on a compelling character whose story is not yet complete bobba fetts story ended in the sarlac pit for me and always will
Read 'tales of the bountyhunter' and you'll get your fix there. And know what people once thought Boba Fett was a cool charactered I'd like your framing of Boba Fett being in the sarlaac pit and we/it watch his memories. Starting on him hanging christlike and it being unclear if he's dead and each episode is just "Tales of the bountyhunter", comic plots, and other life events like the Cad Bain incomplete clone wars episode. Then the big finale is after a whole season on Boba Fett being lifeless, he snaps to attention in the sarlaac pit and you cut to the music sting. The body of the work making you assume he does something badass to escape.
Yes they should have just done the story from the books. The Mandalorian armour, slave ship & hard merchandise. I still pull them out every couple years for a re-read
Especially during the final battle when one shot from *SLAVE-I BECAUSE THATS ITS NAME* could have easily destroyed the scorpenek droids but fuck it, the visual of Boba riding a rancor was too much to resist.
@@Longshanks1690 Even if the rationalization was being worried about collateral damage I would still chose the repeater blasters over not being able to control a thing that eats people for a god damn fun!
I could understand why they didn't use -ahem- Slave I at the end. They fought in the city. Unless they're OK about mowing the city down, then a gunship is probably too much. Unfortunately, I'm still mad because they only fought in the city because Boba was complacent to the cyberpunk scooter chick whose name I can't bother remember. "This is our town", yeah, congratulations. Love yer town so much ya turned it into a bloody warzone. IIRC, the palace has only one entrance, and a lot of open space around it, Mando and Boba can nuke all the pykes with their ships. It'd be fight on their terms instead of... Whatever Spy Kids nonsense we got. I tolerated everything Rodriguez did prior, but the finale is too much.
And R2 in an Xwing... I kept expecting R2 to swoop in and destroy those droids... But nope, Boba is now able to form a mind meld with the Rancor and make it to what he wants.
the fascination around boba fett was that Vader, who we knew to be feared, among many bounty hunters, spoke only to him, and the "no disintegration" immediately let you know that he is not one to be messed with.
