Lesson Summary:
This week, we’ll study the second half of the missionary efforts of the Sons of Mosiah. Thanks to a proclamation from a converted Lamanite King, the floodgates open wide, and many Lamanites join the fold of God. The Anti-Nephi-Lehites will bury their weapons of war to witness to God and their fellowmen that they are forever changed - never to fall away again. We’ll also hear the rejoicings of joy-filled, stretched-thin laborers in God’s white field. Their earnest, poetic testimonies of the worth of souls and the power of God will inspire you to become a stronger disciple of Christ.
Questions to Consider:
Alma 27:5-25 | Do you see parallels between this story and the Prodigal Son? How does the reception of the Nephites compare to the Prodigal’s Dad? What does that teach you about the atonement of Jesus Christ?
Alma 27:28 | Read the end of chapter 27 and tell me why you think they don’t fear death. Have you ever seen someone face the prospect of death with this kind of tenacious faith?
Alma 23:17 and Alma 27:26 | New names are significant in scripture. Is there a reason they ask to be distinct from the Nephites? Is there a reason why the Nephites distinguish them with a different name?
