Tony, Trisha, and Joe from ‪@MovieDumpster‬ get together to talk about the much reviled sequel to The Blair Witch Project, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. In this movie review/podcast they will talk about all the reasons this movie is a mess. From the subpar acting, the studio interference, and the fact there is no book of shadows anywhere to be seen.
As it follows the twisted path traveled by five people fixated on "The Blair Witch Project," "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" journeys into a dark and dangerous place where the line between truth and fiction blurs and perhaps vanishes altogether. Individual perception grows increasingly untrustworthy as the film's protagonists find themselves caught in a vortex of unspeakable evil, the origins of which -- human or supernatural -- remain chillingly uncertain.

25:02---The house was actually still standing around the time BLAIR WITCH 2 was in theaters because the county was at a standstill, debating whether to tear it down or preserve it as a historical site. However, in 2004, a storm with hurricane-force winds came through the area and partially demolished the house, so the city eventually just finished the job soon after.

The Goth girl was psychic basically a witch and the two other girl's were into witch Craft when the wiccan girl does the tarot cards she sees her faith and gets really upset and does it again and keeps getting the same result I thought it was a good movie

The electric chair bit was actually the Goth chic having a future premonition of what's-his-name's ultimate fate after the movie's story. The cast is found guilty on the charges and they're sentenced to execution via the electric chair.

My dorm roommate Freshman year of college had loved the original Blair Witch, and convinced me to spend "new rental" money at Blockbuster to rent Book of Shadows. When the movie was over, his words were, "What the fuck did we just watch?" He the apologized to me for renting it.

1. Loved this. 2. 2016 BW is fun. 3. The 3 Blair Witch games for PC......the first one is spectacular. You play as the doc from the Nocturne PC game which focuses on an investigative team in the universe of Bloodrayne before Bloodrayne got "huge." It's the only playable one of all the three games because they all use tank controls and horrible camera angles. You're blowing away giant evil stick creatures and investigating coffin rock over and over in the other 2, but the first game, Tony, is absolutely awesome.

Even though your guest recommended it, the 2016 Blair Witch sucks.. chock full of silly jump scares for clueless teenagers. Please do that one sometime and bring back this dude to explain why he likes it..I can't wait! BTW, the first BW game is great to me, based on the nocturne engine. the other 2 are fairly lackluster but the 1st one deserves a remake IMHO, ok I'll shut up now..

His documentary stuff is great, but his feature films (I think this was only one of MAYBE two or three?) are pretty weak. They mention his Ted Bundy Zac Efron Netflix movie in the episode. It’s pretty bland.

There's a fan made version of it online. It puts the scenes in the order he wrote them, cuts the tourist group plot from the movie, adds the Frank Sinatra opening song back in, and other things according to how he originally wanted it. It's way better.

Joe!¡! You should really watch the new Suspiria. I think you'll quite enjoy it. It starts off pretty slow but once it gets going man oh man!¡! One my favorite horror movies of all time now not to mention one of the best remakes. And it's an Amazon prime original so it's free if you have prime....

Tony, Trisha and Joe is the best line up on this show, hands down. I remember a point in time when people were claiming that Blair Witch 2 is a misunderstood seuel and would have been a great film without the studio interference. I bought the film on DVD based on these claims and I wasn't impressed, to be honest. I think the film would've been pretty meh even if it was released in its intended form. The premise is neat, though.

8 months late, but shadow of the blair witch kind of makes up for book of shadows. Book if shadows is treated like a real event like blair witch was, and then explains that what we see in book of shadows is like Hollywood making a movie about the events in shadow of the blair witch, if that makes any sense. I might have explained that oddly

Saw this mess when it came out in theaters. Had high hopes for it based on Berlinger’s track record with the Paradise Lost films….was totally disappointed by it. The cherry on it though was asking Joe Berlinger about it at a festival screening of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster in 2004 and he didnt have very nice things to say about it. 😅

Hey Joe,I didn't mind the Zac Efron Ted Bundy movie, because around the same time they released the Ted Bundy tapes. Which was more documentary style. There is a good chance if you saw one, you saw the other.

If they weren’t both on Netflix, I wouldn’t have. If you need the documentary to really enjoy the movie, then that means the movie kind of fails on its own. The Zac Efron movie felt like the CliffNotes version of all the better documentaries that have been done, kind of like that Michael Shannon Iceman movie from about a decade ago. That was like a Greatest Hits cover album of the documentary series that HBO did on the guy where he was telling the stories in his own words.

If you're really curious, do yourself a favour by buying the movie on home video... And then ignoring that copy and watching the "Artisan Removal Cut" instead. It's a recut intended to reshape the movie into something close to what Berlinger intended, and though it's still flawed, it's actually a solid standalone sequel to the original Blair Witch Project in that form. If I were to watch the Artisan Book of Shadows cut, I'd have a feeling it would be right up there with Brightburn, Alien Covenant and Stage Fright as one of the worst horror movies I've ever watched.

Mummy cop came first but I HIGHLY doubt they watched my college short film haha. When I made the web series Wolf cop was being made at the same time and we would tweet each other occasionally. I don't think they ripped me off at all.

I did not like this movie, but I found it easier to watch than the first movie. I hated the shaky cam, the snot scene, and all the main characters in that. A much better nothing-happens movie is "The Haunting."
