At 5:30 you see the bee ride at Coney island, gone now, but I took some photos of it decades ago, and he has captured it so perfectly. I never heard of him, but now I want this book, it is so incredible.

Brooklyn ( Luna Park ) the whole area was badly damaged by a hurricane in 2012 . The Bumble Bee Bob is in Canada now, restored, so not lost ! ( things change so fast it makes urban art even more important )

Sometimes I ask myself what's the difference between painting something real enough and taking a photo. How and where do artists draw the line?

There are indeed some artists who are into photo realism. I think they are doing it mostly to challenge themselves. Ultimately, art is about the artist interpreting in his/her own style.

Teoh Yi Chie Thank you for the response! =D I am not sure whether I am the only one who has this thought. I am a complete beginner so this question pops out whenever I watch artists on RU-vid. How about yourself? After so long, where and how do you draw the line? What is it, really, that you wish to achieve with your sketchbooks? Why would you rather draw than photograph your travels???

Creating realism work takes a lot of time. I just like sketching because it is simple, fun and does not take up much time. And you can hang out with other people who sketch. Creating masterpieces is like a solo thing. I prefer drawing than taking photos because you can remember the scene and experience much better. Not just what you draw, but also the scene that's outside that you did not draw.

PositivelyNice I think similar. These guys produce like this, because they can. Whilst being amazingly brilliant work, when i see such, it makes me want to put what i do in the bin lol. Joseph Zbukvic has the same effect, even though I love his work.
