I've read everything by Gaiman including his collaborations. Neverwhere is still my favorite.

Chris Riddell illustrated editions are always the absolute best - he definitely captures Gaiman imo. Read more Neil Gaiman!!!! His children's stuff is fan-frickin-tastic!

When you paused before saying you loved it I was like "OH GOD OH GOD NO DON'T HATE IT PLEASE DON'T HATE IT." WHEW. That was nerve wracking. And oh man that Jessica/Midnight in Paris comparison is so ON POINT.

HA! I can imagine. I don't know how I could get along with anyone who didn't like this book. It was so fresh and whimsical and creative. Ah! Such a nice reprieve from the monotony that comes from contemporary sometimes. (AND thank you for getting the Midnight in Paris reference!!!)

Well I just finished Neverwhere. I would have finished earlier but I loved your edition so much I ordered it from the UK and it took FOREVER to get here (but it was so worth it- the book is beautiful). I flew through the book and have to say I really really really liked it! Your review was pretty spot on, I definitely got all of those vibes from the book. London below was a little more grimy and and little less...hmm whimsical (?) than I was anticipating... or maybe it was whimsical, but in the same way that broken glass can be magical (it's shiny, and the light going through it makes rainbows, but at the end of the day its broken glass and its next to a pair of rotting bananas). I am so glad I read this book thanks to your review, it was defiantly one of the most unique and interesting books I've ever read. If you haven't picked it up yet, try reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Gaiman (the man's brilliant). It's honestly my favorite book. Like ever. Anyway! Hope to chat soon :)

I love Neil Gaiman! He is one of my new favorite authors. I’m surprised it has taken me this long to discover him. Neverwhere is my favorite book I’ve read by him thus far!

I loved this book too! And I've been meaning to get this edition for a while now (mine is kind of ugly and as I loved the book so much, I guess I can justify upgrading to a nicer edition xD). Your video helped make up my mind!

This edition is making me want to read this book. I have an Americans copy and I am having trouble getting past chapter 3 and just getting into it. I just read that part where Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandermaar burst into his flat looking for Door.

Love your descriptions of Richard. So on point. I'd say Neil Gaiman's work is always weirdly charming. :)

Hahaha! It was a nice change of pace, though. Sometimes it gets boring being inside the mind of a super capable protagonist.

"Her name is Door like a door that you open to go into another room." I cracked up lol. Sounds like a good story though.

Marko Spasic Hey, that’s okay! It wasn’t your thing. I have read so many well-loved books that I just DID NOT enjoy (like The Poisonwood Bible by Kingsolver and A Secret History by Donna Tartt- I don’t see why people love them)

Neverwhere is one of the few stories by Neil Gaimen that I've been able to read and finish, sadly enough. Coraline is the other. I've tried reading American Gods and the Graveyard Book, and just couldn't maintain an interest in either.
