Tiviakov taught he how to play the Spanish. He has a great mind for chess. Posted for the algorithm.

Both games you present us are just amazing. I must say that the guilty in me, would had take back the Queen on b3 with my Knight too fast. Chess is like music ... too much for a single life. So many good books for not enough hours in a day. Merci.

Always love your book reviews, although they usually lead to a dent in my wallet. This one is no different; preordered based on this video.

Inspiring review. I'll order it. I met Tiviakov many years ago in an open tournament in Linares. He was a young boy playing among Korchnoi, Miles, Lobron, and another boy, Levon Aronian! I watched the game they played and it was an ending with Tx N. Aronian won but the difficulty and the way they both managed the ending was a great lesson.

Thanks for the review coach. In two minds between this and Sokolov's "Winning Chess Middlegames" (1 volume version)

The book is really very good. One caveat: no opening index and most of the games come from a King pawn opening.

lol.. Just finished my league game with the exact same structure where I got beaten in the endgame. Knew the line I chose was "dry" but thought how hard could it be to hold this while deciding weather to go for it in the game. As soon as I landed in it however, this was my exact thought you said on 6:13 (I know it's equal and that I was gonna lose) - could have used the tip before the game "bro" :D

I also shied away from this book because of Tiviakov's notorious slow style, but might get it after your review. Thanks

Does the book discuss the unique pawn structures found in 2.b4 vs the Sicilian, and the 3.Bc4 King’s Gambit? To be thorough, these important structures must be covered!!!

Fantastic video. Would there be a similar book on pawn structures suitable for someone around 1600 FIDE?

"chess structures: a grandmaster guide" by Flores Rios Mauricio is really cool one imo

You said you can't believe noblody has done this approach to pawn structures rather than "doubled pawns, isolated pawns, etc."... But I believe someone has done it before: Euwe and Kramer in The Middlegame Book 1 Static Features.

I was interested in this book but according to what you've said it's way above my level (I am ~1700 FIDE). What books about pawn structures would you recommend for players with my Elo?

Flores Rios’ book is amazing for that level!

I can also add 'the Power of pawns' by Jörg Hickl as a lead up to it. 180 Pages. Small book. But huge bang for your buck.
