FOR MATERIALS USED: SEE BELOW
This is part 4 in a series of 5 tutorials showing you how to make a book from start to finish. Part 4 shows you how to measure, cut and make your book covers for your book.
MATERIALS:
For the signatures/pages: Regular copier paper
sewing: Waxed linen thread (you can buy unwaxed and use a candle or bees wax to wax your own threads)
Needle: You can buy Bookbinding needles but I also use a large embroidery or darning needle and remove the pointy tip
Book Covers: For this particular book I used 2mm Mount Board. It is predominantly used by photographers on the back of photos and frames therefore it is a bit more expensive than just plain chipboard. Mount Board is basically just chipboard with white coated paper on both sides. But because its more expensive, I tend to now buy just regular 2mm chipboard. But honestly, you can use cereal boxes or any packaging if you want. Just glue a few pieces together to make it thicker and they work perfectly fine for book covers.
Glue: PVA white Glue
Bone Folder: Essential tool in my opinion but if you don't have one, use the end of a ruler or scissors. But a bone folder is a wonderful tool for bookbinding
Clamps: You can use any clamps, bulldog clips etc. Also a book press is even better, but these clamps are the cheaper alternative
Have fun and as always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

I love your video for these reason 1 : there is no loud music blasting in the back ground, 2 : you show us what your doing with out putting your hands in front of the camera , and 3 : you tell us how wide the spine is and how wide the book covers are . out of every video I have seen ( this includes the pro videos ) this is the best one I have seen on youtube so far.

Thank you so much Justin, that is such a lovely comment. I had such trouble finding tutorials myself when I was wanting to learn how to make books, but it seems that all the professional bookbinders keep their techniques a closely guarded secret, lol. So I had to learn how to do it myself with many old books from the charity shop being dismantled to see how they were made, lol. Im not sure I am doing it correctly, but it works for me, teehee, I am so happy you like these tutorials. Sorry there are so many to watch, but I wanted to ensure that someone who had never made a book before could do so by watching these detailed videos. I hope you have fun making your book and if you run into any problems just let me know and I will do my best to help. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Lee xx

You can certainly use this sewing technique with leather particularly if youre doing a hard cover leather book. You can do it with a soft leather cover too but youre probably best sewing the signatures to the actual leather itself which means the threads will show on the outside of the leather spine itself. I haven't done a tutorial on that type of binding yet, but I've had a few requests to do so, so I will get that tutorial up asap and I can let you know when its done. Hope that helps, Lee x

Hi again Alastair, thanks for getting back to me. To be honest, this technique is the best way for binding a much thicker book. The coptic stitch is a very old stitch and was used for binding large books. However, nowadays factories simply glue the spines rather than going through the process of sewing. I personally feel gluing alone is now terribly secure. Books are made to be bent, and read many times and sewing the signatures is much more secure. I have used the gluing method before but

tip... when you put your board onto the mat, use a small piece of weak double sided tape. Something that will come right off without any damage to the board. It will keep it from moving when you're putting your cover sheet on. Especially if you don't have a cutting mat like this one. Just a tip to someone that might not have a cutting mat or has one that slips.

@@CraftyLoops Yep. Sorry this is going to be a bit long. I'm still a beginner but I'm self taught with most stuff. The first book I did was me ripping one apart to see how it was done, then trying to make my own. Then I saw..... Lemon something or other, then your videos. I've made 3 books, not including the terrible one I made on my own (it just looks bad. It's sturdy though). I made 2 others before watching your videos. They are both great from the outside. But once you open them, you can see the flaws. They hold up well though and I've filled them with some decent art. My latest one is the best and it was from watching your videos. I can't wait to lay down some lines in it. I made my own press, then made a faux leather sketch bond book with RendR paper. I love it. Besides the wrinkles from the glue on the first and last... pages? (the ones that actually hold the book together), it almost looks store bought. I put an elastic strap on it, and my logo on the cover. I just cut it out and put it on before doing the cover, then used the bone folder to push the material down, then pressed it for about an hour. It came out better than I ever thought I could do. So thank you. It's kind of addicting. I want to make more but I can't draw fast enough to warrant making more yet. LOL. Sorry this is so long. Your videos are appreciated and I love it when content makers take the time to leave a comment. Very kind of you. God bless, best wishes. You have a new sub.

Awww that's fantastic! That is exactly how I learned to make books. I've been making handmade books since I was around 7 years old....obviously they were very basic to begin with but I learned by taking old books apart and learning as I went. The more books you make, the better you get. That's fantastic that you made your own press too....so did I, lol. Well done. I'm so delighted that you are loving the book making process. I learn something new with every book I make. I am certainly still learning. And thank you so much for leaving such a great comment. I always appreciate people taking the time to comment. Thank you so much. Lee :)

Sorry, I also meant to reply to your first and last page wrinkling issue. This is a really common issue with homemade books because we tend to use wetter glues than mass produced, machine made books. When I make my books, once I've glued my front and back pages and get it ready to press, I slip a piece of plastic cello bag between the front cover and page. That helps prevent the glue from wrinkling on the pages. You could also place a small off cut of felt or fabric between the pages and that would help absorb the excess moisture from the glue. I hope that helps you out.

Yes you could certainly use mod podge. In fact if you preferred to add the paper cover with double sided tape (providing its strong like the red line tape), thats fine too. You can also add the plain paper and add decorative paper on afterwards. You just need to work out whether you want it to wrap around the edges and be glued down like the plain paper or if not, you have to be aware that the paper could lift if you just stick it on to the front and not have it cover over the edges. +sillygrandad Awwwww brilliant, that is fantastic news. I am so glad you made a book and it came out well. Even today I still make mistakes with my books sometimes, so don't be too hard on yourself. I see my mistakes as little pockets of artistic flare, lol.....well, at least that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it. And in any case, I'd never want any of my books to look like they came straight off the factory floor, so a little "artistic flare" is ok with me. You'll be addicted to bookbinding now. When I made my first book I was completely hooked. So glad my tutorials helped you make your book. Enjoy it and I hope you make more. Thanks so much for letting me know it worked out well for you. Yes you can do a wrap around cover. Ive done a few this way. There are two ways you can do it. 1 is by gluing the inside page to the soft wrap around cover, doing everything the same as in these tutorials. The other is to sew the signatures to your wrap around cover. This means the signature threads are exposed on the outside of your spine and the inside pages aren't glued to the wrap. I have a tutorial coming up soon on these designs, so I'll let you know once they are done. TFW. Lee xx

Hi there. I haven't used rubber cement in gluing the covers to books but I don't see a problem with using it other than the smell lol. So make sure you do it in a well ventilated room. I personally like pva white glue, but you can use pritt stick, double sided tape, elmer's glue, whatever you want. The rubber cement should work well as its a flexible glue and will work well with the moving hinges of your book. Headband materials, I suggest ebay. Thats where I get most of my materials. Lee x

Wow THIS IS AMAZING!! I can’t wait to start doing this! I am making a book for a friend of mine and I am hoping to combine a few of your tutorials together. (The faux leather cover and book binding ones) I had a few questions though. 1. Have you ever put already printed or written on pages together in a book? Does it work the same way? (she wants an info styled book and I cant draw to save my life) 2. In the faux leather tutorial you said that the book was already made when you made the look??? Is that right or are you supposed to make the cover first then sew it together like in the book binding? 2. ½. Can you put the faux look on the inside as well? 3. I am hoping for your opinion ( and may be a really dumb question XD) can you put dyed paper (like the tea dying you mentioned in some of your videos) in a printer? (I was thinking no but you never know) I first thought about dying already printed paper then dying it but that would probably mess up the paper…. Or in a last effort do you think I should bust look for some paper that is not white? Like some yellow shaded or brown? Thank you so much for posting these videos I have been stuck on where to find her a book like this for so long now I can just make her one!!! *hugs* P.s sorry this is so long -Rachel

Hiya. I used 2mm mount board as the actual covers. Its pretty much the same thing as 2mm chipboard but its white. I like a good sturdy cover so I find 2mm chipboard is the best. For the actual paper cover, I just used A3 white paper as I like to decorate my books myself but you can certainly use patterned papers provided they are big enough. I hope this helps you out. Any more questions, please give me a shout. Im more than happy to help out in any way I can.TFW. Lee x

Hi Alastair. I was thinking about you converting your book from A4 to A5. Do you have it on your laptop/computer? If so, I know on my laptop which runs Windows 7 can make my pages whatever size I want in Microsoft Word. Plus I think there is a way of printing out the pages in book format, so it will print pages 1, 3, 5 etc first and then you can turn the pages over and print pages 2, 4, 6 etc. I hope this helps. Lee x

con'd - I only used the gluing only system for smaller notebooks. Personally if you are binding a much thicker book I would sew the signatures every time without a doubt. It may be a much lengthier process but, it will stand the test of time and you won't have pages falling out like you would with simply gluing the signatures spine together. I can do a tutorial on the gluing only process to show you. Although it may take me a week or two to upload as I have a few things to get finished. Lee x

I'm carrying on learning. I think it is interesting how you switch back and forth between imperial and metric measure.
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 8 лет назад
+Marya DeBlasi I know, I'm terrible for switching between the 2 measuring systems. Sometimes its done on purpose so I can cater to those who use one or the other so they don't have to get out a ruler and work out and convert it into the measurement they know. But a lot of times.....I just switch between them because that is the way my brain is thinking in that particular moment. I was actually taught metric in school but when I started to do bookbinding and get into crafting a bit more, I found Imperial handy to use too. So I do try to do both measurement systems to help everyone out. But I can understand why it might be confusing or off putting to some folks. I'm a measurement rebel....you never know which I'll use, teehee. Lee :)

Hi Lee! Thanks for those great tutorials! They are very clear and easy to follow, and I find your accent very refreshing. What a nice difference to all the american spoken all around! However, I have a question. I want to make a watercolour sketchbook. As the paper is very thick, I think my signatures will consist in only one page. The problem is, that every second page I will have the thread in the middle of the page. I dont find that very appealing, but also it means, that it will disturb my drawing. Do have a idea how to solve this?
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 9 лет назад
Hi there Iss zzy. Thank you for your lovely comment. The thing with having a sewn sketchbook is that you can open your pages out completely flat so a lot of journallers and artists prefer this so they can work on both pages uninterrupted and seamlessly. Now, you can go for a glued spine only, however you probably know from books that are just glued, when you open the book up there is usually a "hump" in the centre of the 2 pages. I do have a tutorial coming up for a glued spine, it'll be up hopefully before Christmas. However, you could always use white or cream coloured sewing thread in your sketch book. Then the threads won't be as noticeable. Also, depending on the size of your sketchbook, the amount of sew holes and spacing between the holes, you may be able to get away with minimal threads showing through. I will try and get my glued spine tutorial up asap, but to be honest, for a sketchbook the best type of book is a sewn spine simply because it opens up so beautifully. I'm sure you've noticed that most of the expensive journals and sketchbooks are all sewn and its simply because the pages open out completely flat which makes double spread pages so easy to work on. Let me know how you get on and if you have any further questions. It's up to you which type of book you prefer. Hope this has helped you out. Lee xx

Hi Heather. A soft cover is probably best made using a pamphlet stitch. I have made a soft cover using the same technique as in these videos but gluing the spine to the leather rather than inside pages to the covers but I find a pamphlet stitch much better and prettier. Check out my recent videos. There is a 3 hole pamphlet stitch tutorial and a 4 hole pamphlet stitch and these are perfect for leather or soft covers. Hope this helps. Thank you so much CraftyLoops this was exactly what I was looking for and it's so easy too. I have a question though what is that hard stuff you used and where would you get it from?
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 10 лет назад
Hi Lucas, thank you so much for dropping by and watching my tutorials. I assume the hard stuff you are talking about is the book cover material? Sorry if I have gotten that completely wrong, lol. In this book, I used Mount Board which is basically chipboard with a coated white paper over it. Its mostly used by photo framers to place on the back of photo frames. It's just what I happened to have on hand at the time. However, it is more expensive. I usually just use chipboard for my books. You can buy both chipboard and mount board at any craft shop, framers shop, Amazon, Ebay etc., chipboard being the cheapest and easiest to find. I'd recommend going for 2mm chipboard if I were you. Its cheaper than mount board, does exactly the same job and the 2mm thickness gives a lovely, sturdy book cover. But if you are completely stuck and can't find chipboard anywhere, simply use cardboard. Or better still, cut up your cereal boxes, glue a few layers together to get the thickness you want and you have a perfect surface for a bool cover. Thats what I used to do when I started out making books and is pretty much what chipboard is anyway, just layers of compressed recycled paper and cardboard. I hope that helps you out. Give me a shout back if you have any further questions. Toodles, Lee :)

@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 6 лет назад
Hi there. I buy it in A4 size, or whatever is the best price and then cut it down to size. The type of board Im using is 2mm and is just really thick and dence cardboard. So if you cut it down to size using a metal edge ruler and a really sharp blade, you should be able to cut it easily. Just don't try and make the cut in one pass. Cut slowly and cut the board with the blade by cutting a few times. If it is still a bit uneven, you can take a bit of sand paper or an old nail file or emory board to file your edges. I hope that helps.

***** Hi there. I actually mentioned what I was using in the first 2 minutes of this video, lol. Sorry if you didn't catch it, my accent is sometimes hard to understand, teehee. I discuss the items I use at around 0:45 sec. I tell you what I am using and a few suggestions of alternative items you can use instead. But to save you from having to re-watch the video again, for this particular book I used 2mm Mount Board. It is predominantly used by photographers on the back of photos and frames therefore it is a bit more expensive than just plain chipboard. Mount Board is basically just chipboard with white coated paper on both sides. But because its more expensive, I tend to now buy just regular 2mm chipboard. But honestly, you can use cereal boxes if you want. Just glue a few pieces together to make it thicker and they work perfectly fine for book covers. I hope this helps. Have fun, and let me know if you have any other questions or queries. I'm happy to help. Lee x

Hi, I’m sort of doing this backwards. I have a book that I decorated and removed the pages from, so now I’m going to make signature pages for it and glue them in. So do I make the pages 1/4” less than total width of open book? I’m not sure about length? I think you said a bit more than that for the length? Thanks so much for these very clear and comprehensive tutorials.
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 2 года назад
Hi Dawn! 1/4 of an inch all around sounds good to me. Although, it also depends on whether you want to have decorations along the free edge of your signatures too. So, say you want to add decorative trim or lace along the edge of your pages. Do you want that trim to be seen poking out of your book? Or do you want it the trim hidden? A lot of people like the lace or trim poking out of the book, make it look more shabby chic, therefore a 1/4 is perfectly fine. But if you don't want the trim showing when the book is closed, maybe consider how much width the trim will add to your overall page width and take that into consideration when sizing your pages. You sound like you have everything under control so far. I hope that helps and I hope you are enjoying the bookbinding process. Let me know if you have any further questions. Lee :)
@dawnaurorastudio
@dawnaurorastudio 2 года назад
@@CraftyLoops thank you that’s great info. For now I won’t be using trim. Plan to make the signature pages from a (subtle) sparkle rice paper and shell papers. The spine of the book is about 3/4”. Do you know approx how many signatures I might need for that size?Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 2 года назад
@@dawnaurorastudio Oh goodness Dawn, again I can't give you a specific number because it all depends on what you are doing. It depends on how thick the paper is, how many pages you want in each signature and the entire book, what you plan to use your book for....the list is endless. The one thing I can advise you on is to be aware of what you plan for this journal. If you know that you want to add a lot of items into it, like photos, ticket stubs, memorabilia etc., you need to have space for your book block to take all that added thickness because of the extra bulk you are adding to your pages. A lot of people make their journals and add a tonne of things onto the pages, and end up with an "alligator" style journal where, your book is so full, it won't close properly...therefore, it looks like an open alligator's mouth. If you are making a journal where you want to add a lot of inclusions, I'd recommend you make my 3 hole pamphlet stitch book. Or the 4 hole pamphlet stitch book. That style of book is perfect because you can chose how far apart to space each signature, therefore leaving room for the added bulkiness of inclusions. Here is the link to both those tutorials, hopefully they will help. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z3Ru6bkfsqM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-937rWn0YHfo.html

Brandon Smith Hi Brandon. Thanks so much for watching and your comment. I've made fabric books the same way as this procedure with no problems at all. I even have a fabric book sitting right next to me and it was made using this technique. So you can cover the books in whatever way you want. Just as long as its can bend around the covers, you are good to go. More bulky materials like vinyl can be a problem as some can be too thick. But most fabrics can be used with this technique. TFW. Brandon Smith Loose pages is a whole different ball game Brandon. I will do a tutorial showing how to make a journal with loose pages. You can't create signatures for sewing, but you can do this hard cover if you wish. You'd essentially be gluing the spine bits of paper together and making sure there is enough glue to hold the pages together but not so much that the pages stick together and don't open. There is also Japanese stab binding too. I will try and get tutorials up soon. Lee :)

Hi Jess. I haven't had an issues with any rips or tears so far and I use my journals a lot. If you are worried about tearing you don't have to cover the books with paper. You can use fabric, wallpaper or actual bookbinding cloth too. If you are using paper and are concerned about the corners, you can actually buy metal book corners that protect them.....or you can go down the economical route and make some protective corners using duct tape, washi tape or any type of decorative tape you like. Hi Kyra. The whiteboard is more expensive and is used by photographers to back photo frames. I buy mine on Ebay. But to be honest, now I have been making books for a while, I just use plain old chipboard. I buy it on Ebay too, or take the board off the back of notepads and sketch pads and use it. Thanks again Lee. It definitely helped. I think my gullies are so small they're pulling the covers up a bit. I'm going to take you at your word that you are happy to answer questions. If mine become burdensome, PLEASE let me know!1. Which paper trimmer do you use and how often to you have need for it when making books? 2, Do you use a ruler rack?3. Do you use a hard of soft rubber brayer? :) See. My peppering you with questions could get to be a bit much.
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 7 лет назад
Lol, I love answering questions Mary so never think that they are too much. The gullies really are an integral part of the bookbinding process. They can make or break a book......quite literally lol. Too small and the book cover will pull and eventually tear at the gully due to opening and closing. One tip I can give you to strengthen this section is to use tyvek.....you know the stuff that houses are wrapped in and some envelopes are made from? That stuff is incredibly strong and can keep a spine going for years. You can add it to the spine and overlap onto the covers a bit to include the gullies and then just add whatever covering over that, that you want. It won't hinder your book covering and it keeps your hinges/gullies strong and free from tearing. Even if your book cover eventually tears, the spine will still be intact because the tyvek is holding everything together. Now, onto your other questions. 1) Paper trimmer. I used to use a wee cheapy one I bought in an art shop, it was only £5 or something. I still use it today. But because I use a lot of paper for various things, including books, I bought a more heavy duty trimmer. But if Im honest, when it comes to my books, I just use a metal ruler and exacto knife for my chipboard because my trimmer won't cut through 2mm chipboard. It does cut thinner board and thick cardstock though. If Im cutting the paper for inside the book, I'll use my trimmer for quickness sake as it can take multiple sheets at a time. Its a Fiskars 12-inch/ 28mm Sure Cut LED Rotary Trimmer. I bought it on Amazon. It is expensive Mary, as far as paper trimmers go and honestly, it is not essential. As I said, I use a knife and ruler most of the time. 2. Mary I don't even think I know what a ruler rack is so in that case, I assume I don't use one, heehee, Is that a storage system for rulers? (Now Im asking you questions, lol) 3. Brayer. Yes I do use a brayer sometimes. I use it to flatten down my covers to the chipboard. Its called a speedball brayer, I think lol. It was another wee cheapy buy. I used it in my Wedding Photo Album tutorial that I have on my channel. But to be honest, the thing keeps falling apart which is so frustrating. So I usually just stick to using my bone folder to smooth out air bubbles. Hope that has answered all your questions Mary. It is a pleasure to help you out....if I am at all that is, lol. Lee :)

Heeheeheehee Yes, a ruler rack stores rulers upright horizontally. It's a piece of wood with grooves cut into it that rulers fit into the long way. I saw it on Amazon. My space is seriously limited and the rulers are, for the moment, the most awkward items to store and still have handy so this item is appealing to me. www.amazon.com/Omnigrid-WRR-Wooden-Ruler-Rack/dp/B001IKGEWY/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1500081004&sr=1-1&keywords=ruler+rack I researched Tyvek briefly online yesterday, but I never found anything that seemed scaled down in size for crafting purposes. Like, say, tape or cheese cloth. Have you found such a product? I saw a small paper trimmer that expands out on one side to accommodate 12x12 paper. There was a great little video showing how it works, and it looks really handy - priced around $20. It seems like it could make cutting signature pages from 12x12 sheets of paper easy. I have a quilting rotary cutter that works well, but, since my space is so small, it's awkward laying larger pieces of paper out. Now that I 'say' this, I realize the sizes of paper that are awkward are larger than 12x12 and this little trimmer wouldn't be able to handle those sizes. Wow! 'Talking' out loud with someone else can stop oneself from making impulsive purchases. :) I do tend to get all excited about a project and want to buy all the cool tools to make it easier, etc. But, when my real life gets in motion I can't fit it in. I work in an elementary school classroom Aug-May, and during the school year I'm TOTALLY spent after work and the creative juices just aren't flowing. Yeah, the brayer looks like a fun, useful - yet unnecessary - tool. When I start making lots of books I'll probably get one. :) It's a pleasure 'talking' with you. I'm sure I'll have more questions before it's time to go back to work. I'm happy to know I can ask you. Be well. Thanks again! :)

Ahhhhh That ruler storage looks brilliant....although my space is teeny tiny too, so one for the wall would probably suit me best. My craft room is 9 1/2ft by 6ft so pretty small to fit ALL my craft goodies. The fact that I do practically every craft under the sun doesn't help either....plus Ive recently added sewing to my list so that wee room has just become a ridiculous space of crafting goodness. I could seriously sell half of it and still have way too much. Anyway, at the moment, my rulers are shoved down the side of my desk. Not ideal but its what I have to work with for now lol. A paper trimmer although a great tool and very handy, it isn't really essential when it comes to making books. They aren't strong enough to go through chipboard so you end up using a knife and ruler anyway. And lately, I've just been roughly tearing my pages along the rulers edge for a more "rustic, organic" look.......that's my posh way of saying Im being lazy and just tearing my paper edges instead of being methodical and making everything perfectly straight and symmetrical, heehee. Have fun on your Summer break Mary. I hope you get plenty of creative time to play. Lee :)

@@calipigenia Awww that's great. Just have fun. The great thing about making your own books is, if it doesn't work, you can just try it a different way. Have fun making your books. And if you have any other questions, please do ask me. I'm always willing to help. Lee :)

@CraftyLoops

Hi there. The glue is simply PVA glue mixed with water, or sometimes known as white glue or white school glue. Hope that helps you out. Lee :)

Hi Anna. It's actually "mount board". I have listed everything I use in this video's description box if that helps. I know my accent can catch people out. And thank you for your message on my blog. Im glad you like it. I haven't updated it in ages but planning on getting back to it soon. Lee :)

Oh I don't know about that Anna. I'm not a vlogger at all and I'm a pretty private person. I don't mind sharing projects and tutorials with the internet. But I don't think anyone would be one bit interested in me or my life. teehee. I'll leave that to the professional vloggers. Lee :)

I can't seem to find the video in which you show us how to make the kind of cover where you glue a separate piece across the spine and onto about a third of the front and back covers. Do you know what I mean? Can you send me that link? I messed up on the width of my hard spine piece, so now I have to fix that and connect everything with another piece of paper.

Im trying to remember if Ive even made a video on that spine Mary, heehee. Ive made that style before but Im not sure if Ive put a video of that exact procedure. Is this video any use to you? Let me know and if not, I'll try and get a new video up on the style you are asking for. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N6U8k2NaPMc.html

Thanks for the link, but that's not it. I actually watched you show the kind of cover I'm wanting to use to correct my mistake; but I don't know where it is or how it ended up on my screen! Darn. I THINK you did it in response to someone's question about having one side of a book glossy and the other not glossy. Does that ring any bells? :)

Hi Mary. I looked up my comments and found the question about one side glossy, and one side not. It appears that that question was asked on this video, lol. However, in my answer to that lady's question, I did link her to another one of my tutorials. Maybe you clicked on it? Here is the link for you and hopefully it will help. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z3Ru6bkfsqM.html

Lol, its 1.30am here in Northern Ireland Mary. Im a bit of a Night Owl heehee. Plus my neighbours are having a very loud party and have decided that its perfectly acceptable to blast Celine Dion at this time of the morning.....even with their kids trying to sleep upstairs.....UGHHHH!!!! Im glad I found the video you needed Mary. It would drive me nuts if I couldnt find it for you, lol. Let me know if you have any other questions or issues. Im happy to help. Lee x

hello! it would be helpful if you told the measurements in cm too (metric system) because as a non-American it is pretty difficult to follow with these measurements. otherwise, awesome tutorials!
@CraftyLoops
@CraftyLoops 7 лет назад
Hi Bettina. Sorry if the measurements didn't suit. I am in Northern Ireland so we use cm too but I tend to swap between the two pretty easily, depends on my mood that day, lol. In fact, at the very start of this video, I use CM. Im terrible for swapping between the two, lol. The reason I measured in inches this time around was the because the ruler I was using only had inches. Most rulers have both cm's and inches so it's easy to show both, but that particular ruler didnt. Just a quick tip if you have trouble with the measurements in the future, you can actually convert the measurements on Google. Just search "Inches to cm" in the search engine and a wee converter will come up for you. I didn't really occur to me that anyone would need the measurements persay, as the dimensions are all worked off the fact that the signatures are A5 in size. I'll do my best in future to put both measurements in when I need to. Lee :)

Hi Alastair. For some reason the first part of this comment is missing?? So I'm not sure what it is you have actually asked me, I'm so sorry. Would you mind repeating the first part of the comment please? It must have divided between 2 comments but only the 2nd half has actually come up. I'm so sorry. Grrrrr, ipads make leaving comments so dodgy sometimes, lol. If you need to send a message, go to my YT page, click on "About" and you'll see a wee box saying "Send message". Lee x

Whoa, whoa buddy! Don't lump all of us Americans into one category. You're going to give people a false impression. :)
