Booker T talks about how the decline of WCW will affect new talent and the differences between the WCW and "WWF" locker rooms. I recorded this interview myself for the RU-vid audience it is no rip off
0:44 The Invasion angled failed because it lacked WCW main eventers. The Alliance was also headed by borrowing WWF stars like Stone Cold and eventual WWF mole Kurt Angle. The Invasion was actually entertaining on a high level but failed as a true WWF vs WCW angle. DDP and Booker T were awesome to see but it sucked big time that the WCW/ECW Invasion PPV roster had only 2 WCW guys for the Inaugural Brawl. It didn't help that DDP wasn't used right and they were downgrading Booker T's presence on PPV to him and Shane vs Rock at Unforgiven. If the WCW/ECW Alliance had so much as simply Sting and Flair, or Sting, Flair and the big ticket Goldberg.. it would've been successful. Booker T, DDP, Sting, Flair and Goldberg would've been perfect vs. Austin, Angle, Jericho, Taker and Kane at the Invasion PPV.. and getting the nWo afterwards in 2002 would've been fine.
Best of the year besides Mania. Imagine the buyrate if instead of Booker, DDP, Rhyno and the Dudleyz as Team WCW in the main event you had Hogan, Hall, Nash, Scott Steiner and Sting
Have you seen Booker T today? That guy is still in excellent shape. I want to know his workout routine because I want to be in that kind of shape when I get up there in age.
ill still say if any young talent wants to learn the buisness, go to booker's school in houston. its the best place to learn values and booker is the best to look up to
Cole is one of the best play by play no one compares to him at what he does he's not like JR who doesn't do Play by play and when he does he's bad at it thats why vince Loves Cole so much
This is the 1st interview that I've seen that has made any sense of the watered down WWE since the buyout. Thank you Booker T for not being the punk that most wrestlers become in front of 'regular' cameras.
MC that was great! i like Michael Lansberg cuz he b askin the tuff questions like a REAL wrestling "smart-mark" wud like 2 know. P.S Booker is my favourite one!
Me and a friend went to a WcW house show one time here in New Mexico, and when Booker T came out my friend tried to high five him, but missed and slapped him hard right in the face. It was an accident of course, but Booker T looked legitimately pissed as he said "What the fuck man?" hahaha we still laugh about it to this day, 10+ years later
Imagine if WCW didn't have the problems it did back than and wrestler that had talent like Bookert T were given a push. Do you think that WWE would be still around today?
He is a good human being ..... He always said dont treat blacks as special ... If the black is talented...then move him to top ..... Long live booker ... A true human being .... He should have been 10 times champ atleast
He didn't really need it though. A belt is a prop. Some guys are already so over they don't need props. Just ask piper that. He was over his whole carer and never had many belts.
@@theninthheart4736 Kid, if the Murican public school system couldnt teach you anything, and your own father hasnt given you the time, what makes you think I can? Look it up yourself or stay confused..your privilege is void here.
I would love to see booker t get back to where he was at this stage of his career, no stupid gimmicks, no stupid voices just him going out and wrestling like we know he can.
I love Bookah "What Da Heyul" T on Smackdown! because he is simply cool to listen to... But seeing this makes me realize 2 things: 1. Booker is a great guy. 2. His character on Smackdown! is beyond racist. :/
is he supposed to be not well spoken? do you point this out about every wrestler or just the black ones? it's insulting when you patronize and give backhanded shallow compliments as if to imply that you didnt expect that kind of behavior. stop with the subtle racism.
OTR was really awesome. I only watched it before Raw when wrestlers were on. They were always great! "G.I. Jew" doesn't get enough credit. He actually followed the product and knew what he was talking about
I like Landsberg as well, but wrestling fans tend to shit all over him, as if he's not qualified to interview their gods. Guy understands the business better than 99% of journos.
It should be noted that Kurt is a former WCW World Champion and WCW United States Champion. Kurt had a single appearance in WCW before he joined WWF, but didn't wrestle for the company.
The invasion angle failed because it was rushed and the guys that you wanted to see, didn't have to wrestle because they could sit back and collect checks from Time Warner. Triple H gets hurt and there is no more 2 man power trip angle and Sting doesn't want to wrestle as hard as someone like the Undertaker.
4:10 There's a proper insight into the mindset of a wrestler. They NEED good competition to have the drive and motivation to do their best, enjoy their work and please the fans. SOOOO when someone like John Cena or Miz is champion, when they haven't done their time and learned the business, and neither can wrestle, it doesnt encourage young talent to come to the WWE, and the old guys get demoralised by it. Hell, Rock even said he never wanted to wrestle Cena. Vince should listen to the veterans
Invation didn't work because Vince didn't really want it to work. For one thing the ECW aspect should have come much later. WCW should have won at "Invation" (as they did) but as a result got there own show (WCW SmackDown maybe) then down the line have ECW star rezent this and turn them into an nWo type group and attack both sides.
i agree with Booker T though about the Invasion angle and how it could have been soooo much better...I loved it back in da day but then again I was in high school then...I look at wrestling now being in my 20s
In my opinion go back to 4 to 5 PPVs a year instead of 1 per month and defend the titles on Raw and SD once a month. CReative control is basically recycling old gimmicks and storylines but the problem is, those gimmicks and storylines worked in the eras they were in ie: Attitude,Monday Night Warsm etc, and the Invasion storyline was straight garbage and Im glad that somebody actually admitted it.
WCW did have better talent, but look who they spent money on after their crappy invasion angle. Goldberg, a guy with very limited wrestling ability, Nash, a guy who could never wrestler, Hall, a guy who could wrestle, but not when they got him, and Hogan, another guy who hadn't had a good match in years. They should have just spent the money to buy the contracts out, got everyone, and put Flair at the head of it (as the new wcw owner, not a wrestler).
Soon I uploaded quite a few in a short period but I don't want to upload ones that are already on here by other users and I think its going to be like 1 or 2 per month but you never know they might put a lot of interviews on so subscribe for more updates.
