Bret should've been Champ at WM IX. Hogan was part time and Bret was full time so Bret should've been Champ. Also there's no way Hogan would ever lose to Bret Hart's Sharpshooter at Summerslam. 3 Guys during that time would never lose by Submission and they are The Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, and Hulk Hogan.

People still call Bret a 'mark' for himself or taking himself too seriously or delusional. Yet decades later, his words and work have proven to be the most solid and truthful even more. @@user-fr1ys2wn4t Brett will always be mentioned when they talk about the best worker of all time. A great wrestler that got to the top on in-ring skills and match storytelling. I completely sympathize with a lot of Brett's animosity towards various wrestlers and some of the business. However, one thing Brett didn't seem to fully grasp or refused to was that the WWF/WWE is a business 1st. When Hogan interacts in the organization, for example, it's on a business level. Since WWF/WWE is a business anyone employed/has a contract with that business isn't doing anything wrong when they're trying to elevate their status (which means increased paychecks) in that business. It's part of the game. In business, things like loyalty aren't transactional and you should expect none will be returned. It's always been like that and it'll always be like that.

Bret is a guy who is full of so close moments which could have made for fantastic wrestling. A match with Hogan at SummerSlam in ‘93, another match with Austin at WrestleMaina 14. A big time money feud with Hogan or someone when he debuts in WCW. Maybe if he doesn’t get concussed he does some indie dates. Just imagine Bret Hart in an early 2000’s ROH. Having a 30 minute match with Joe on his ROH World Title run, a feud with CM Punk after his 60 minute draw with Joe. A battle with Danielson in 2006. Bret on the second rope but Joe catches him and sets him up for the Muscle Buster but Bret counters in a small package Punk vs Bret is a money match because if Punk (as shown in his AEW run) LOVES Bret. I’ve been thinking and seeing some Terry Funk stuff recently and his feud with Ric Flair is an older veteran trying to keep up with the younger generation. That could be the theme of the ROH run. Love Bret. His creative mind is what made him the GOAT. He wasn't as tall as Andre or as animated as Hogan, but he had natural charisma/a cool factor and always put on the most entertaining match and that made him the best. Very few matches have rewatch value but pretty much all of Bret's PPV (and even TV) stuff is just as good as the first time when you revisit it.

Why would hogan want to lose on tapping out before leaving. At that time he never submitted in a match and he never lost to a smaller guy. It was all about giants then. Losing NY submission to a perceived smaller wrestler would make him look so weak before leaving to a new company and would kill his character. It's almost the same reasoning why Bret didn't want to lose in Montreal to Shawn before leaving to a no company.

Many go on about Bret Hart’s abysmal WCW run but his main event run in the WWF between 1992 & 1997 (before Steve Austin was mega-over) could’ve been better too. All those years Vince McMahon tried to push Lex Luger, Diesel & Shawn Michaels who couldn’t draw a dime but everyone wanted to see the Hitman in the main event scene as World Champ. The Hitman between 1992 & 1997 should have main evented at least 4 WrestleManias during that time considering how over he was back then before The Attitude Era

Hmm was it maybe because Bret was a total failure? Was it maybe because his first run as Champion made him the worst drawing WWF Champion in History (and would remain so until 2001)? Was it maybe because in 1994 he got outdrawn by the Undertaker and the B-Squad on the House Shows? Was it maybe because in 1994 he completely destroyed Calgary for the WWF (drawing only 6,400 and 4,000 to the Saddledome, a venue that holds 20,000 and WWF thought Bret vs. Owen for the Championship in their hometown would sell it out)? Was it maybe because he still holds two distintive records? 1. Main Eventing the lowest selling WWF PPV of all time (IYH5, didn't even reach 80,000 buys) 2. The World Champion with the by far, absolute lowest MSG Attendance EVER (4,300 on August 25, 1994, 1000 tickets handed out for free) Btw: Diesel was the first WWF Champion to sell out the Madison Square Garden (May 1996) after a near 7 year dry spell (September 1989 being the last time), for a House Show. Did you know that Diesel actually ranks pretty much in the middle of all WWF Champions when it comes to drawing power? He main evented IYH5, it did 100,000 buys. 25%+ buys more than Bret did with IYH5.

Perhaps, but Bret is the kind of guy who can tell a story about someone else, yet somehow manage to interject getting himself over and being the martyr. It's false humility and what Bret is really doing is saying things wouldn't have happened "x way," if I didn't get involved. The focus is himself, not the other person he claims to be defending. He even did it in his 1996 October return interview on RAW with a much more extreme example about the dying child in the hospital. Even as an 11 year old, I thought something was off about that.

People acting as if it's Hogan booking the show, if Vince really believed Bret was the guy it doesn't matter what Hogan thinks. Vince had changes of heart about Bret several times the most famous of which when he signed him to a massive contract and then realized he didn't want to pay him that much cash anymore, which launched the whole debacle with him leaving the WWF and the screwjob. And part of the reason this happened was because Vince really thought highly of Bret as a reliable, loyal worker and WANTED him to be the guy, but this didn't reflect in the ratings because Bret just wasn't that much of a character on screen and Vince kept trying to both keep pushing Bret but at the same time keep his edge over Turner where guys like MIchaels and Hogan were better than Bret. Bret was such a mark that he thought that just because he was getting pops in the arenas that meant that he must be as over as Hogan, when in fact freaking Scotty 2 Hotty got pops on Smackdown, but he wasn't the guy drawing money, these are completely different concepts and Bret never accepted that. Also it's entirely possible that it really was Vince that backtracked and then pinned it on Hogan, Vince is known to stir the pot with bullshit like that, not saying it wasn't Hogan, but it's a possibility
@1980Triumph
@1980Triumph 5 месяцев назад
Thank you, it is amazing how these Bret fans lack that basic consideration. Vince had repeatedly tried to bury and move past Hogan, when the writing was on the wall it was a last grasp at something because Bret as champ was a severely low point in the company, they legit were losing millions of dollars a year while Bret was on top, why would Vince not try and use Hogan one last time for one last grasp at success?
