Hello Alison! Perfect Timing! I was sitting at the table with my iPad when I saw you posted a new video… SQUARE is my favorite orientation for a journal… favorite size is 8”x8” but I’ve done 6”x6” and 4”x4” as well… I LOVE your Butterfly pages! I did a ‘flower’ 8x8 journal in 2019 (hard to believe that was 5 years ago - I do usually write the date very tiny somewhere at the bottom of the page) that I thoroughly enjoyed doing - I probably have enough butterflies stamps, dies, and ephemera to create a Butterfly journal as well… hhhmmm…. I am liking that idea a lot! That will need to be a future project as I already started last weekend yet another project (5x7 journal) using Marta’s (Maremi’s Small Art) Collage Books with beautiful images to fussy cut. Anyway… it sure feels amazing to be creative again! I mentioned in an earlier comment how excited I am for YOUR latest release - I LOVE all three stamp sets and thoroughly enjoyed your PaperArtsy blog post. Take Care, Alison and have a wonderful day! 🙂

One of my problems with journalling is I really don't have a favourite format... sometimes I want portrait, sometimes square, sometimes landscape, sometimes large, sometimes small - it's why I have so many on the go all at once! Your current project sounds delicious - hope you'll have lots of fun with it... but you could always take a couple of hours away from it to be square and then go back!!!

Oh how I love your journal style! I’ve tried many different styles of art journaling and enjoyed the process of creating them but your style speaks to me like no other! Just the nature and peacefulness is so beautiful. Thank you for inspiring me to continue on my journey ❤️

Thank you so much for that beautiful and thoughtful comment. I'll confess, my journalling definitely shifts in style (as you'll see if you take a look at some of the rest of the Books Books Books series) - it's where I play and explore... but this journal definitely seems to have taken on a particular aesthetic, and I do love it! Very happy to provide inspiration to carry on your journal journey.

Alison, all your work warms my heart, but it is truly your “words” that keep me coming back, every day! There is something inspiring and fun when you say, “Oh yes, that makes me happy.” It always brings a smile to my face.

That's wonderful to know - thank you so much. I suppose it makes sense, given how much of my life I've spent working with words (far longer than with pictures... so far!). Words matter to me a great deal, so I'm delighted that they are part of what keeps bringing you back here. Thank you for your company on this creative journey.

And of course I like all these nature inspired pages. I recognize this papercase book, I think I have several on my shelves with holiday journals. Mostly with black (or some brown) papers, because photos work so well on a dark background. I loved that shop that was close to my work in Amsterdam and I could visit during lunchtime. They sold beautiful cards too. Since I am on Instagram I take photos of most of my work (even when I don't publish everything). I store in filefolders on my computer per date, now I can easily find out when I made something.

Yes, there's definitely a kraft version of this... I've got a couple of those too. That's dangerous having a branch of Paperchase near work... too tempting!! Yes, of course, anything which has been blogged or posted on IG, it's possible to track the date of creation. And I do have photos even of the ones which have never seen the light of day online... but since I've had to clear my Photos programme several times onto external hard drives, it would take a bit of searching to locate one journal page experiment amidst 1000s of photos. I'm happy to live in ignorance! Hope you're having a lovely week xx

I remember my cousin from London took me to one Paperchase shop in London. I really loved their collection. And then she gifted me a small journal from there. It's sad to hear that it's closed now. You inspired me to use my incomplete journals now. I used to start a new journal thinking I will do it every week😅 but could never complete and now it's just lying in my shelves. I will start again even though it's done 5 to 6 years back.

I know - it's so sad when a great store can't compete with the online competition any longer (I'm guessing that was at least part of it). Ah well, at least we both have our journals to remember them by! And yes, very much so on the pick-it-up-again journalling thought. In one of the other videos in this series, I'm flipping through a large Dylusions journal in which there are pages going way back in my creative journey, then it skips a few years, comes back, goes away again, and then there are some much more recent ones. And that's fine too!! Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely, thoughtful comment.

Hi Alison, I am a newbie to PaperArtsy and even newer follower/subscriber of yours. I adore watching you create and find pleasure in watching you create, especially when you laugh or I hear delight in your voice. I received my beautiful new stamps yesterday and I hope I have time to have a play with them for a few minutes of fun tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your processes and thoughts. They bring more than a few minutes of fun to many. I continue to be in awe.

Thank you - happy you enjoyed the flip through. Watercolour Ground is a medium designed to turn non-watercolour surfaces into a better surface for watercolour paint. I use it like that too, but I also love it just as a texture paste. There are many different brands... I have both the Qor Cold Press Ground goldenartistcolors.com/videos/qor-cold-press-ground and the Absorbent Ground www.jacksonsart.com/golden-white-absorbent-ground both made by Golden. Hope that helps.

An Alison video! What a great start to my Wednesday! 😀 Let me help you out with the American term ‘flair’. I believe it came from the movie “Office Space”, and it refers to round buttons that you can use to describe yourself. For example, if you like cats you wear a button with a cat on it, etc. In the movie there is a fictional restaurant called “Chotchkies”, which makes the servers who work there wear various pieces of “flair” . There is great pressure on the servers to wear a lot of flair. The term then worked itself into the mainstream vocabulary. Not exactly Shakespeare, but it was a funny movie that became a “cult classic”. My co-workers and I reference it a lot at work actually. Thanks for the video! And I saw some new stamp sets for you in Simon Says Stamp last night that I am anxiously anticipating.

@@w0rdsandp1ctures The Lake Isle of Innisfree is my ALL TIME FAVORITE poem ❤️, so when I saw your stamp sets had lines from it scattered throughout them, I knew I would be buying every set so as to have the (mostly) complete poem. I assume that was the marketing strategy behind that decision. 😆 Those dastardly marketing execs targeting us lovers of Yeats! 😂 Insidious!!
@w0rdsandp1ctures
@w0rdsandp1ctures 3 месяца назад
@@christinewerner6207 I promise it wasn't about marketing devilry... I just wanted to have as many lines from the poem as I could for my own personal use!!! Also feeling very guilty as I failed to mention in the Launch Night Video that actually one of the fragments on the newest sets is actually Gerard Manley Hopkins (another favourite of mine)... "long live the weeds and wilderness" is neither of the Williams therefore!!

@@w0rdsandp1ctures Thank you so much for introducing me to Swineherd. It is new to me and there is a lot to ponder over there.
