The Mid-Century NYC series by Cat Sebastian is PERFECTION. An instant and forever favourite. I'm not much of a rereader, but if I had to I would definitely pick these. Cat Sebastian and Alexis Hall never miss, to be honest. Can you tell that ny favourite genre is historical romance? 😄 Some other favourites of mine that I rarely see mentioned are Peter Darling and Caroline's Heart by Austin Chant. Have you read the Raven Cycle spin-off following Ronan and his brother Declan? Thank you for the video! I loved hearing you talk about your favourites. I definitely should try to get my hands on some of E.L. Massey's books. My library sadly doesn't have them.
I'm sorry about your headache, hope you feel better soon! I love books and rereading books! Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and Leah on the Offbeat are a couple of my favorites. I also love all of Alice Osemans's books, my favorites are Heartstopper (of course lol), Radio Silence, and Loveless.
I'm sorry to hear about your ongoing headache and tiredness, I hope you get well soon! 🤕 I've now thought about it for hours, but don't think I have books like that?! The first books I read when I learned to read were by Michael Ende and I used to reread them a lot (Momo, The Neverending Story, Jim Button) - I don't think that's because they were well-written but because they were my childhood friends/childhood memories. (I gave/give away most of my books EXCEPT my very first ones, which I am so attached to that I can't bear giving them away.... okay, also one of them is completely battered, spineless and falling apart, so I couldn't give it away even if I wanted to...) I've since learned about the racism in them and don't reread them anymore. There are many other books I used to reread a lot but don't anymore (including a certain author who must not be named...) for various reasons, one of them probably being that I've simply forgotten about them. I have problems remembering things and only started tracking my reading online last year. So if I go by what I've tracked and reread, I would say my three favourite fiction books of all time are Euphoria Kids by Alison Evans Dreamers by T.J. Baer 👀 and Nevada by Imogen Binnie Ironically enough I think of Nevada as my favourite book of all time, but I've not reread it (yet), while I have reread Dreamers and Euphoria Kids several times. So... I don't think I always reread a book (immediately) just because it's my favourite 🤔 Thank you for the video and the recommendations! I'll have to look into these ❤
Thank you for the recommendations, some of them sound quite interesting 🙂 my top three most re-read books that I have are 1. Marley and Me by John Grogan - there are heaps of stories that the movie doesn't cover and I absolutely love how he describes the funny situations the way sometimes you're not able to read it in public, because I for example ended up crying of laughter at multiple occasions 😄, 2. What If It's Us and Here's To Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera - the single most adorable queer romance with such a healthy relationship which also got me hooked on Adam Silvera's books in general and I'm currently reading my way through all of them (another great one is History Is All You Left Me), 3. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman - I've read all of Alice Oseman's books, but I absolutely fell head over heels for this story and I love Aled and Frances' friendship.
Thanks for the recs! I’ve been looking for some lighthearted queer romances, so I’ll definitely put these on my TBR list. Some of my favourite books, both queer and not queer and which I’ve reread multiple times are: -Wolf Hall (not queer) -The Silmarillion (not queer) -Young Mungo (queer) -The Death of Vivek Oji (queer) -A Wizard of Earthsea (not queer) -The Song of Achilles (queer) -Darth Plagueis (not queer) -The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (not queer) -Siddhartha (not queer) -The Bell Jar (not queer) -The Priory of the Orange Tree (queer) -The Secret History (kinda queer) -Tin Man (queer)
The Breakaway series is by far my favorite books. Even more the EM Forster novels. I agree that Alex and Eli has the best relationship in any book I've read. And abuela is a wonderful character that I want to read more of. :)
The Mid-century NY books by Cat Sebastian: chef’s kiss both. Also You & Me (Tal Bauer): incredible. The Extraordinaries trilogy (TJ Klune), the Carry On trilogy (Rainbow Rowell), Autoboyography (maybe my all-time favourite, by Christina Lauren). Practically all the books by Alice Oseman, Bill Konigsberg, KJ Charles, Cat Sebastian (the Cabot series, the queer historical romances, Luke and Billy, etc). Sarina Bowen is a big favourite (Him and Us especially), the Game Changers hockey romances (Rachel Reid). Alexis Hall is sometimes uneven but I love his writing style (I read Something Fabulous 3 times). In graphic novel form, Check! Please by Ngozi Ukazu and Heartstopper (esp. the first volume) by Alice Oseman. I should re-read The Scottish Boy, the Aristotle and Dante duology, Cemetary Boys: all are superb.
I very rarely reread books because I'm a school librarian and I am always trying to keep up with new stuff as much as I can. There are so many I would love to reread though. Can I recommend Boy Like Me by Simon James Green to you? YA novel about being gay as a British schoolboy in the 90s. Hilarious and heartbreaking and hopeful, I think you would really love it.
I re-read The God Eaters by Jesse Hajicek every year when I travel back to the desert on vacation. It can be found on the author's website for free or you can buy the self published paperback.
My most reread books are by authors Mary Calmes, Amy Lane and Rhys Ford. After watching your video, I immediately bought You Should Be So Lucky for my Kindle, because I absolutely loved We Could Be So Good. And books by E.L. Massey are my favourite YA reads - I have read them twice already ❤
The Blue Castle is one of my favorite books as well! It is a shame it isn't as well known as Anne of Green Gables. I often reread it when I suspect I am letting fear make my decisions for me. I can't wait to read your re-imagining of it! Now if only someone would do a screen adaptation!
I wish your non-Heartstopper content got as much traction as the Heartstopper stuff. Yes, that is how I found you, but your other stuff is fun, too. Thanks for the rec of the Cat Sebastian mid-century novels. I picked them up and read the first one and loved it. Finishing the second one now.
We have very similar book tastes haha. I also love Howls Moving Castle! And You Should Be So Lucky. I finished that book just a couple weeks ago and I love it so much, I wanted to reread it right away. And then some of the other books you mention I already have on my tbr like cemetery boys and like real people do/like you've got nothing left to prove. Surprisingly my favorite book is Looking for Alaska by John Green 😂😅
