Hello! Today I talk about my favorite books of all, and why you should read them. You can leave your own book recommendations in the comments below!
Books I will always recommend are:
- Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams
A quirky, thrilling mystery with twists and turns that kept my easily distracted brain engaged.
- Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice
A modern, return to your roots dystopia set on a First Nations Canadian reservation. Rice creates a gripping tension that kept me interested and desperate to know what happened next. The colonial commentary is some of the best I've read and is, sadly, very relevant.
- Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
This is my favourite book. My pick of Crusty Old White Men dystopias, this novel follows the life of a fireman, Montag, whose job is to burn books, which are illegal to read or possess. This book highlights how important books and reading are, leaving you confident in your decision to read.
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I have not finished this book yet, but it is so interesting and compelling that I have no choice but to recommend it. Like most dystopias, The Hunger Games follows the gripping story of Katniss Everdeen as she faces a mandatory, televised fight to the death. Collins draws attention to notions of control, society, and rebellion. I was invested in the first ten pages.
Tell me what you think of these recommendations below. Have you read them? What were your thoughts? Which books would you recommend?
I hope to see you in the next video!
