I'm not going to say anything about this author's book because I haven't read it yet, but I'll mention Peter Frankopan's observation that he doesn't trust people who don't own books. I couldn't agree more.

Just about to start the chapter "The Roads To The Future ". I'm mixed on this book. I think it's incredible and detailed when Peter decides it should be. The critical analysis is obnoxiously lazy when he wants a bias or point of view to come across.

I would add, that there are many parts of the book I've enjoyed, and it has been fun/educational to read his book while looking up locations and places on my globe.

But do you know who P Frankopan really is? His heritage goes back to royals in Croatia - the Frankopans. And surprise - he is married to a royal in UK. When you read a lot - you understand that some things are not coincidences. He is a historian, yes - like many - but he has intentions - and that I do not trust. Information is good - but reality is what it is. I would find it offensive if someone tried to define me by the books I own. There is so much more to that, and it is not fair. And it is absolute rude. I find him quite interesting - because he has acquired knowledge - due to his lineage, a kind of advantage in some ways and the opposite in others. But he is interesting - to an extent.
