@@abookolive it’s great I think you’ll like it. It gets into the weeds of a microhistory while keeping a lovely pace… and there’s plenty of ancient and medieval historical references woven in seamlessly. Thanks for the recommendation!
The Christmas biography sounds interesting! I know the holiday has changed a lot over the centuries at least in England. I'm also wrapping up and trying to read books that I didn't get to in the rest of the year. I'm also finally finishing my Dickens Christmas Short Stories, every year for the past 5 years I've been reading one of them and will finally be reading the last one!
You really can't go wrong with Atul Gawande, can you? I don't read a lot of nonfiction, but I've read all of Gawande's books and love them all. I enjoy your videos so much!
I read Complications earlier this year and enjoyed it! It’s the weakest of his three I’ve read (imo), but still lots of cool stuff to learn about. -Becks
I wasn't a fan of "The Love Scribe" when I read it earlier this year, which was so disappointing because I typically love magical realism. But we all like different things, so I'm hoping you have more luck with it than I did!
