We are sort of new to Bookshark. I started it with my 5 & 6th graders this past year. We absolutely love it and my kids are always telling their friends how great it is! I'll come say hi when I'm at the Ontario convention! 💕

Thank you so much for this review. I have a 5 yr old who is supposed to be in kindergarten this year but he's an advanced reader. So I wasn't sure if I should go with level 2 or level 1. This review helped me so much with that decision. You are awesome 🙂

+Roshenara Nizam I’m so happy it helped! Did you decide to go with Level 1?? That level has so many fun books!! My kids loved the history and hands on history that went with it.

@@HerculeanHomeschooling yes, we completed week 1 for level 1 and loving it so far. I'm enjoying the books as much as my 5yr old is. He has learned so many new words and begs me to do school. He says he enjoys the poems the most and of course the books.

Hey girl! My oldest is heading into grade 2 homeschool:) I’m doing research right now for curriculum. Last year we just did a few workbooks but this year I’m looking for more direction/teaching manuals to make sure I’m not missing anything. Thanks so much for this review. Right now I’m trying to choose between this course and All About Reading. It’s so helpful to see how other homeschool moms put things together. How long does it take you to complete your homeschool day?

+Megan Kerry One of my favorite parts of homeschooling is checking out different curriculum, there are so many great choices out there now! Of course, it can also get really overwhelming and trying to figure out what is the best one for your kiddo can be really hard. Good luck in your decision:) with all of my kids, we are typically done by lunch time, so around 3ish hours.

It seems like there’s a big jump between level 1 and level 2 readers. Can I customize which books?

The LA matches the readers so if you tried to mix and match readers from different levels that would through off the LA portion. I would base it off of where your child's LA skills are and pick the level based off that and not necessarily the reading level.

I’m new to homeschooling! So lost! I have a big guy heading into the 1st grade was in public school for kinder! Very behind I feel like he can master about 10 site words but has ADHD.... he knows all his letters and the song he knows if they are upper or lower case Reading and writing a nightmare though...I’m thinking of ordering reading and history level A with level one readers and language arts 1.... do you think we will be okay?

Welcome to the world of homeschooling!! It can be very overwhelming with all the curricula out there and figuring things out. I have no doubt y'all will figure out a good rhythm though. Level A is a great place to start! So many fun books in that one y'all will read together:) Level 1 readers/LA starts with basic cvc words and progress pretty quickly. It uses some Dr. Seuss books about mid-year to the end. Level K reviews letters and does some sight words and cvc words. Level 1 has slightly longer writing assignments. Have you taken the online evaluation thing to see where he places? You may want to do Level K reader/LA to help build his foundation in reading and writing stronger. It may also help doing Level K with his ADHD since he would only be doing small bites at a time before moving to the next thing. Level 1 also has smaller bites of things though, so if you feel he is ready to do Level 1 for reading/LA I'm sure you would be just fine attention wise. I hope this helps some!! Have a great first year homeschooling together! -Sarah
