For me, I like the boom arm when podcasting when it's just me solo podcast and when I am with my cohost. The only time I use a desktop mic stand, is when I have 4 mics on the table with all 4 guests that have equal mics, they all match, and it creates a sense of unity. I don't like having a podcast group with guests, and I have a monster boom arm and myh Rode Procaster in front of me like I am Howard Stern. So to relax them and seem more casual, I use 4 Rode Podmics, simple, clean, and we all have fun.
I have been debating if I need a boom arm, but now I think I will go ahead and get one. Especially if if it helps with my mechanical keyboard in the background.
There's one I've seen Sean Cannel from Think Media use that comes without the clamp & Stands on the desk. It's pretty pricy but I'll link it here and you can check if there's a cheaper one that comes with that desk stand: amzn.to/2ZZoGht
I recently got a Samson Boom Arm and it has been so nice to lean back in my chair while streaming. I didn’t think I needed one, but leaning in forward for my Mic Stand hurts my back and posture.
I noticed that when using the mic stand you had the mic turned wrong and was not speaking into the front of it. Not sure if you noticed that, but maybe you should revisit this and do it properly.
For me,its too sensitive,no matter what sensitivity i use, even the Mic Stand makes everything so loud, talking on the hallway would still be pretty loud and the keyboard is the biggest problem lol
Got a mic stand with gooseneck. Its did give me some freedom (don't have to lean that much). The problen with boom arm is that its clunky. Not a great option for someone who move from city to city often. Also a stand fit my purpose which is setup the mic as fast as possible whenever I move from one room to one room
Would have been nice if you’d covered the use of the Quadcast’s gain control dial to compensate for the distance created by the desk stand, and the headphone jack for monitoring.
Tx allot i was searching for boom arm for my hyperx quadkast and i was Worrie about how to connect the mic with the boom arm and i find one look like boom arm in the review ❤️
i don't have a boom arm so i attached my mic to a stick and then to the ceilling. Because i reacord sound tests and my mic is very sensitive so i need a boom arm and also for gaming streaming and other but i don;t have money right now
Thanks. After watching your video, I immediately ordered a boom from Amazon Japan to go along with my newly acquired HyperX Quad with multicolored-LED. Is there a recommended video to watch as to how to get up to speed with OBS and Streamlabs OBS? Cheers.
Hey! That's such exciting news 🥳 that's such a beautiful USB microphone 🥳 I have two videos to recommend, the first one is How to make the Hyper X sound better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BE8IN7_DCKM.html And the second is my streamlabs OBS Tutorial : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s2ZlkHTRkhY.html
im going with a stand. My desk is very well made and vibrations from pretty much anything doesn't reach my mic, and my mic doesn't seem to pick up keyboard sound anyways
I have a generic boom arm from a South African company hehe so it doesn't even have a name :D But the ones I linked above others have grabbed and used the HyperX with :) I think the Rode is overpriced and a general C-Clamp will work nicely. Also the HyperX comes with an additional connector to fit all Boom arms but I didn't need to use mine to fit on the boom arm :)
So just to answer both your questions, I have a second video on how to make it sound better which basically says set it to cardioid, and position it close to your mouth. If you have a blue switch keyboard, it'll pick it up faintly but I have a red switch keyboard and it faintly picks it up but being in game or streaming with music, you don't hear the keyboard :)
@@MedjayofFaiyum for sure bro 🙏🏽 I actually don't have one, but if it's like mine that clamps to the side of a table then it's really easy to set up 🙏🏽
@@swoljoe i've got aT20 clamp and this hypercast one after watching your video, Chose that one here because it seems to be good. I actually have a Maono pm 421 - which is great for budgeting - unfortunately it's become a little echoey but it does the job really well
i used to have a boom arm to my quadcast hyperx and it broke cause i moved it to much lol "BAD QUALITY" On it Well I prefer boom arm cause you dont hear the noice from the table if you rage or so on :() or if you brake your screen, THANKS!! :)
I really want a boom arm (i have the same mic as you!) but my desk edge is slanted. The first boom arm i bought could not be fitted into the desk edge :(
@@swoljoe I am not sure, but a whole set up installation is best. There’s not a lot of tutorials covering how to set up mics, and how to properly integrate them into your PC. Sure it would long but that would be my suggestion and maybe w good niche fr you as well to break into
@@swoljoe Whatever helps us users understand how to install it is better. The companies don't even have an official set up video guide which should be compulsory.
I'm not too sure how big your desk is exactly but investing in a boom arm was one of my best decisions I've ever made. I have a set up video here where you can see how big my desk is for example and how much space you need : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EkByN0KdHV8.html

Underated! Great video, i just bought myself a boom arm :) btw i thought you had 266K usbscribers, but i just noticed that you have 266 :( gl on the grind
Any ideas where to purchase the adapter for the boom arm? 😢 I purchased a boom arm for my Hyperx Quadcast but unfortunately I have lost the adapter... Great video. Cheers.
So there's two types, a C-Clamp (this attaches to the side of your desk) And there's a desk standing one like the Rhode boom arm :) Which would you prefer? The C-Clamp is a lot cheaper and I use the C-Clamp
@@swoljoe lmao :)) Also do u know about the V-moda boom pro cable mic ? And if you have the Hypxerx Solocast could you do a comparison between the two ?
Generally the mic and comes with adaptors incase you need one. So just check in the box and then see if it'll attach. I actually just winged purchasing my boom arm and it fitted without even needing an adaptor.
Side tone as in like stereo where it'll play in the left ear if you make a sound on the left? If that's what you asking it's one of the buttons on the mic :)
how do you change which way the shock mount is turned? Because mine is facing a different way and it isnt facing the way i want it to face when i put it on my mic arm
Hey Joe if yoy are still reading this can u tell me a good mic stand like you have. I have the hyperx quadcast s that is basically the same mic that you have. PLS it would really help me out
So I have had a insignia NS-CBM19 mic for a while which has a screw at the bottom, do you have any experience with boom arms that use this sort of mounting device or do you think I should buy a new microphone that is meant specifically for a boom arm? Thank you
My mate DJ-ADIP uses the Samson if I'm not mistaken which also has a screw at the bottom. He has it on a boom arm and daym he sounds amazing. Ill link his page so you can see what he sounds like: m.twitch.tv/djadip/profile
@@swoljoe appreciate it, i have actually watched that video, i was just wondering if you can convert the settings to discord as i dont stream or record videos at all, so im stuck with basic discord and it picks up basically everything
@@uxooo since Discord is a whole new program the only advice I can give is to have it set to cardioid and get a boom arm so that it's super close to your mouth, turn your volume to the third smallest dot. I'll look into Discord audio settings this week and see if there's anything we can do there
@@swoljoe thank you i have it already on them settings, i found that krisp audio is in discord settings, works perfect it usually isn't good because from my experience it cuts out audio cuts out your laugh thinking its background noises and sometimes distorts audio, but since i have a boom arm and the hyper (so its good quality) i think the settings are working fine due to it not being a bad normal headset mic i appreciate the help and if you find anything more id be happy to know defiantly deserve a sub you're awesome for helping dude
Thank you! So excited for you! :D And the hyper x is pretty universal when it comes to boom arms and it came with an adaptor shoud you need it, I didn't need mine though :)
Just to ask I’ve had boom arms in the past and the clamps or something is trash about it so you have any recommendations for a way to mount a mic without something breaking?
There's one I've seen Sean Cannel from Think Media uses that comes without the desk clamp & Stands on the desk. It's pretty pricy but I'll link it here and you can check if there's a cheaper one that comes with that desk stand: amzn.to/2ZZoGht But I get you, my desk clamp has been eating away at my wooden desk so also looking at grabbing one of these
@@johnkall7814 check out the ones that have a desk stand, it's a bit expensive but there may be others you can find that are lighter and cheaper: amzn.to/3duC7y5
@swoljoe ahh. got you. completely true bro. its a decent video if its an early vid. I'm replying off my game channel and im the same. the quality from 1 year ago now.. its 1000% better. anyway goodluck bro
