I love how Chris expresses her true heart felt feelings in everything she experiences..whether it be dumping, organizing, cooking, learning new driving skills etc.. What is really cool is how she expresses her love and pure joy of sharing this with Aaron, always lovin' on her man. Aaron let's see some of the same from you. Just an observation from watching you two for several months, but Aaron could step up his game and reciprocate his gratitude for his sweetheart.

Use your truck to help break the wind when it's kicking like that. Also, just give your truck a slight tug or put in neutral to help disconnect your trailer. Usually it's just too much forward or backward pressure. Beautiful locations you're hitting!

@@IreneIronTravels I also have had issues with the ORV hitching to the TV ball. I found that at times I have to chock the ORV wheels (either forward or reverse depending on the slope) and ensure that the 7 pin trailer cable is disconnected so the trailer brakes can not be activated when attempting to find that sweet positioning of the TV ball in the ORV hitch. My last spot after unhitching I had over 36" height on the ORV tongue from the ground, I had that much slope to content with. By chocking the wheels and disconnecting the ORV brake factor, then I was able to nudge the TV back and forth till the hitch was safely lock in place.
@larryskrabut894
@larryskrabut894 2 года назад
Also I need to add, for those who use an Andersen WDH, if you attach the chains before the hitch is latch, that in it self might tend to draw the trailer closer to the TV and might not let the hitch latch properly. So do not attach the Andersen chains till after latching the hitch. That would possible mean raising and lower the tongue jack a few times to get the suggested way to attach the Anti-Sway Plate. So what I tend to do is to back off the nuts on the chains, but notice the thread count where you had the nuts threaded in to. For adjustments of the chains, I count the threads showing. I also found in my case and travels, the amount of threads showing might change as the trailer weight changes with water, supplies, Black/Gray tanks levels are. I find that I might have to tweak the nut adjustment a quarter/half turns for the best possible tow ride. YMWV :)

I’m a Vegas boy born and raised I remember going out there back in the and 90s and the water was all the way up to the top of the cliffs walls there on the edge where your trailer is parked. Yeah the Lake has went down around 30 feet or more since the early 90s.

Also, I'm not sure, if you have these already, but you should get furnace covers. They are wire mesh domes that can help as a windbreak for using your furnace in high wind, but also prevent mud dobbers, birds, and bats from making nests in your furnace!!

You two are so kind and considerate, I love watching as you explore and make your way into your chosen lifestyle. I'm a lifelong (70 yr. old) camper here in Michigan and will always love pitching a tent or parking my 24' travel trailer in one of our many beautiful campgrounds here. My Anderson sticks too. Seems to stick on the backside of the ball more. I’ve learned to have the ball pressure towards the front of the coupler and as soon as there is a little upward pressure when raising the trailer, I find stepping up on the bumper and bouncing a little will release the ball. Works so much better now. Just make sure you don’t raise too high before trying the bounce method. Hope this helps guys!

We must have been there about the same time in Feb. The wind was blowing so hard some days the trailer shook pretty good. I even oriented it so the wind blew into the narrow back end. It was a rock -n- roll week for sure. Some cold days 7 nights as well!

I got a chucke after she comes back to the truck at 11:10 and says "its gonna be tight".....10 seconds later pulls into an open campsite large enough for 2-3 rigs....its all in your perspective i guess! Regarding your issues decoupling from the trailer, you should always chalk your wheels prior to separating. With your wheels chalked, and the tongue jack taking the load off the truck (just slightly), you can back up the truck, 1/4"??, to unseat the ball from the coupler. The biggest take away here is to always...always chalk your wheel before decoupling. The last thing you'd want is a run-away trailer!! Yep....when winds get crazy, pull in the slides if your RV has toppers....you'll be much happier in the morning!

as for the de coupling the ball. park the trailer where you want. chuck the trailer tires so it's not moving, put down the tongue jack where it is atleaset support the trailer weight, backup the truck slowly (for no more then an inch). this should help with release the ball. It would be easier w/ two people, but I done it with just myself. Just have to go back and forth and keep trying.

Hey, putting your slide in due to weather conditions is OK! We were lot docking at a Cracker Barrel and DID NOT check the weather before going to be (with the slide out) and we had sleet and freezing rain during the night. The ice on top of the slide out was “frozen” hard so we had no choice but to pull it in to get on the road - we had an appointment. When we got to our final destination and opened up our camper it was like we had a water leak from the layer of ice melting “inside” the camper. Considerable clean-up and we marked it up as a lesson learned.

The slower you filter, the better it works. Also, there’s a reason that hose is so flexible, “plasticizers” so I always install the filter downstream of the hose. Chris is like a unicorn 🦄! Hard to find them like her!

I have some stories of driving through the Santa and a wind storms, and this episode brought back those memories. Stay safe, stay grounded, and try your best to keep the sand out of your shoes, hair, eyes, ears, and home. I love seeing how settled you guys are in the trailer. Btw, Lake Mead contains water from the Colorado River. The water level has decreased massively over the last decade. You can see the water lines. • yes there are wild burros • There are also wild cows further up in the mountains, specifically on the canyon rims • You may even see a wild horse, but I have never seen one Another fun thing to is to look up the ghost town locations and go visit. They are amazing and fun.

We love your channel. You captured this area accurately and beautifully. We spent three weeks there in Nov/Dec of 2021. Re: pulling in the slides. We pull ours in when wind gusts hit 35mph or greater. At slower winds depending on the angle of the wind relative to the rig. Friends of our with a rig just like ours had the wind rip the slide topper right off of their rig. We might have to get one of those air fryers. Hope that you have a safe and speedy recovery. Safe travels!

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not, I didn’t read the 300+ comments. Trust me, it's you! 😁 I've never seen anybody have so much trouble unhooking the trailer. Or leveling a trailer. 😁 It just takes practice. I have pulled a lot of trailers over the years. Put the trailer close to where you want it and then put ramps in front or behind the low side of the trailer wheels. Drive it up on the ramp until the level on the front of the trailer is centered, then block the wheels unhook the trailer and then level it front to back with another level mounted on the side of the trailer using the tongue jack. This should take no more than 5 or 10 minutes. Then if you want to you can use more stabilizing jacks but I never used more than the two rear and the tongue jack. And I used 2x2 cribbing with pyramid jacks on top. Extremely stable! Who needs auto levelers. Those are expensive and a big waste of money! Lots of people are spoiled rotten by all those gadgets, and they complain and b**** if they can't find a level spot. I once parked my trailer on a 30° slope and got it perfectly level really quick and easy. When I got done the coupler was sitting on the ground and the tires were a foot up in the air on ramps. But it was still quick and fun and easy. Sometimes I don't even bother with the stabilizers. Just the wheels on ramps and the tongue jack. I really miss that 24-ft trailer. But I'll be getting another one soon. Have a wonderful journey. 😁😃

That was a solitary part of Lake Mead with a secluded beauty. I think there is a touristy part where you can rent boats. At least I think I remembered reading about that being one of the activities to do when I visited Las Vegas. I wonder if that Spring has amoebas in it. Some Florida lakes have ameba warnings in the middle of the hot summer. It's found in hot waters. Your site was in such a beautiful area . Love the pink glow.

If you have Andersen Levelers...you could consider driving the front tires onto them and that would change the degree pitch at the ball. Just drive over them once you're disconnected. Just a thought since Andersen says NOT to grease the ball.

We have the same hitch and what's worked for me to get the trailer uncoupled is when I'm parking the trailer and am happy with the spot it's in, chock the trailer and set the parking brake. Once all the tension is off chains and I'm still having a difficulty uncoupling, I would release the parking brake and that little movement would be enough to uncouple the trailer from the hitch. HTH

At 20mph, I'm pulling my slides in with toppers. At 10mph, the awning is in, if not sooner. We got small rips in one of ours and used canvas tape to prevent more damage in New Mexico, but I'm way more on the careful side with wind in our RV (gas motorhome, fulltime for 2 years).

A tip for un hitching, once your parked where you want to unhook, bring the truck to a stop, then reverse slightly/shift to park/set parking brake before taking your foot off the brake pedal, this keeps the truck from rolling and keeping pressure on the ball..

We can’t air fry and induction at the same time so we kinda trade off use. But we’re starting to use it more and more and it’s so nice to have!

The burros are wild, they were brought by the damn builders and then released, you have to be careful on curvy roads because they will just stand in the lanes! Cuties though for sure.

It's wild how low the water levels are at the lake. It makes the road situation kind of weird out there. Roads that used to go right up to the water now end just seemingly randomly. Then you have the ghost town of St. Thomas, uncovered in 2002 after being under as much as 70 feet of water since the 30's when the lake was formed.

Hi guys! I full time in an ORV 24RKS with the same front window and dinette slide as yours. For the front window I use a towel behind the pillow insert that covers the back and edges of the pillow. It gives it a tighter fit eliminating gaps around the edges and stops drafts and condensation forming between the pillow and glass. The seals on the bottom corners of the slide don’t always seal properly because of how they are cut in the corners. Sometimes, from inside I can even see light from outside. And there is air leakage there regardless. My “fix” has been to stuff a wool hiking sock into the gap from inside the trailer. Just remember to pull them out before bringing in the slide!
@IreneIronTravels
@IreneIronTravels 2 года назад
Hey there Brett! Thanks for the tips! I actually noticed that gap in the slide corners as well and this being our first slide....I was kinda blown away you could see out side! I have also stuck socks in there on really cold days! Ha ha!

Hi! I really enjoy your channel. Just a little tip on the hitch problem you had. You may have already been given this information or figured it out, but when you get into that situation where the hitch won’t lift off the ball, one way to navigate that problem is to put the wheel chocks in place and your trailer tongue jack down. Lift the jack just slightly to take the weight off of the truck hitch ball. Then move the truck slightly backwards (so that you’re moving the truck but not moving the trailer). This slight movement of the truck will give you just enough clearance on the ball for the lift to come off without catching. Hope this helps. Keep on doing what you’re doing!

I have to get an air frier for the camper, or borrow one from the house. I fought a black 3/4" goodyear hose for years and don't miss it... but boy do they last a long time. Suggestion: LevelMatePro.... very cool the way you pick the most level spot as you arrive. I have the old one without the on off switch. But, I love it.

Hey! great episode. Remember to ALWAYS push those tank rods back in after the drain. When we left our seasonal spot last fall, hubby emptied, flushed and yacked to his brother at the same time. When we got to our campsite in Wilmington NY, it was an ugly scene when he pulled the cap off 🤢. Ordering one of those caps with the hose connection just in case they're forgotten again, but that incident will not be quickly forgotten!

Shortly after getting our camper back from the service dept. We didn't think to look and see that they left ours pulled well needless to say it was not something I noticed when we went to dump the tanks. It was very gross, to say the least! Of course it was me doing the tanks and not the normal (my husband) doing it. He thought it was hilarious!

Tip: Your Kizen infrared thermometer gun doesn't measure air temperature only surface temperatures, unlike your heater thermostat which measures air temperature so that's why you can still have a cold surface while your thermostat is not kicking on the heater yet. Your foot is filled with fluid and blood while during the healing process just like a bodybuilders muscle when they work it out hard. It'll go back to normal eventually. I see things a little bit differently as far as carbs and fats. Keto saved my life. I used to have very high cholesterol high triglycerides and was pre-diabetic, but no more thanks to Keto and cutting carbs and eating more protein and fats. I also lost 40 lbs in 9 months. My blood sugar, triglycerides, and cholesterol are all under control now. As well as my waistline. That snorting deadly organisms thing is kind of worrisome, because what happens to your dogs if you bring them there with you and they sample the water? Love your videos and your lifestyle keep them coming. 🤠

Just FYI, when you want to unhitch you made a comment about your ball with some rubbing I highly recommend take some white lithium grease to your ball when it looks dry. This will lubricate it stop any squeaking and I will make pulling the trailer much easier. Second observation and don’t take this with criticism when you’re on a little bit of an angle and the ball did not want to drop off from the hitch. Pull your pin and move the vehicle ahead obviously the safety chains are off and it’ll pull the drawbar out from your vehicle. You were not add an extreme angle that would prevent this. Even lifting up on the tongue jack from your trailer you could’ve jumped on the back of the hitch and that was separated your vehicle from your trailer. Keep up the great work it’s great that you’re both sharing the duties of towing do not be afraid of towing the ground that you went in for that Boondocking location looked fairly flat and level

You might want to test your glucose prior to the potatoes (even in the air fryer) and then 30 minutes after you finish your meal. My father wears a continuous glucose meter and potatoes spike his blood sugar over 50 points. I’ve tested my glucose and didn’t get any spike my dad or my husband got following the potato meal. My father’s doctor(s) do not follow your advice about potatoes. Everyone is different so probably a disclaimer would be helpful. Also, I grew up in Henderson, NV and our Easters were spent at Valley of Fire. Excellent videos.

😊 Thank you for sharing that, very good point! Everyone is so different and there are many contributors to one's health. Moderation is something we try to apply to many aspects of our lives. We'll have to try and test our glucose to see what potaotes do to us! We don't typically eat any refined sugars or processed carbs and try to just stick to the whole foods.🍏

Ball needs a little lube, also up inside the coupler..... lay on your back and shine your phone light up in it , you'll see how the locking system works. It needs lube also...... twice as fast in the sand, grit and offroad stuff. Keep that in mind Aaron. dirt n grit is not your friend on metal to metal, composite, plastic connections.

Hi Chris and Aaron! What an incredible park! I remember your comments on one of your last videos about how Valley of Fire just pops out of nowhere….and you weren’t kidding. We were just there over Super Bowl weekend and the park was like an orange fire ball explosion as you round the corner. My wife and I were talking about how great it would be to come there for the week and be able to hike most of the trails in the park. We exited the park the same way you two did, but turned right and went back to Vegas via circling by Lake Mead and into Henderson NV. Did you make it to Red Rocks Canyon on the west side of Vegas while you were there? If not, I highly recommend it when you return. There is a lot of free access hiking on the south side of that park that go up into the canyon wall gulches. I really like Chris’s plant bag! Very deployable…and practical! It is great to have some green life when stopped. Not sure if you guys are into cacti. Over by Red Rock Canyon is a micro town of Blue Diamond. On the main highway is a really cool desert nursery/landscaping place called Cactus Joe’s. Definitely recommend a stop there when you return. Wow…..that Sand Mine area is really beautiful! Safe travels!
