Thanks for the video! I haven't watched the entire playthrough yet but it is likely you missed one key rule of the expansion! Besides the two lake conditions, you are also getting one move on the lake gameboard if you advance 3 or 4 spaces in Phace C (maybe you fixed it later in the video)
You only get the production bonus when you actually cover the production space. Otherwise the same bonus can be obtained by more than one player unlike the rest of the bonuses or a player may be able to obtain the bonus of the occupied space plus 2 or 3 production bonuses in the same play, which completely wrecks the economy of the game. Also, you will never have all the spaces occupied so you will never have a chance to get 2 coins per unplaced tile.
The rules say you build next to it, “build one production site next to this resource.” If otherwise, it’s really poorly articulated in the book. We like the build next to anyway because it doesn’t ruin anything - once certain critical spaces are taken, no one else can grab those bonuses anyway.
The statement being quoted from the rule book doesn’t refer to the sites on the board. Production sites are what you build on your player board. They are the +1 tiles that increase production when your boat is sitting there. In other words, when you cover the spot on the board showing the factory symbol, also put (build) a production site on your player board next to the appropriate type of resource.
Correct. I came to make this comment about the production site upgrade bonus as well. You only get it when you build on that hex space. The wording in the rulebook isn't the best, but they mean you build the production site adjacent to that resource on your player board. So, it's very limited how often you can upgrade your production sites. It makes the resource economy in the game tighter than how y'all played it.

enjoyed your playthrough a lot, thanks! besides the production mistake that's already mentioned. There are a few more. 1-It is not an error technically, but every time you move your ship three or four times in phase C, you can also move your treasure hunter. That's the whole point of the lake, as an incentive for players to go faster. You did that from the second round, but you could do that in first round too. 2-In 1:07:56 frances did not use her ability, she had to get two extra coins whenever she built a cow. That was the first cards she built. I am not sure if she used that card before that too. 3-at the end frances should have gained 8 extra points for the tile she scored. Each two coins worth a point. 4-I am not sure if Anthony scored his artifact bottom scoring condition, and I am not sure if you both utilitized your artifacts at all?
I love watching you, been a follower long time. This particular playthrough wqs a little confusing for me. The first thing was I don’t believe you can build into boonlake on the board from the center. I think you have to gomover the bridge from unknown to get to boonlake.. there is water and no bridge from the center to boonlake. Second on the expansion you were getting movements on the lake board itself, you didn’t show how you were getting that movement. Then early on you both took movement on your turn, I don’t see how that’s possible. Anyway just wanted to point this out for further explanation if possible. Thanks
For anyone watching, just FYI there are some major rules errors in this playthrough that make it an inaccurate demo of the game. The resource economy should be tighter in reality.
Hi you say major errors (multiple). If you could list them that would help us and anyone watching. We know of one - you have to place tiles on the industry spaces, not adjacent, to get the bonus. This is not clear in the rulebook, but seems to be the only issue. Thank you for clarifying.
