This has become my favorite 2022 game. I was very excited when I first heard about the concept and gameplay. In fact, we could not wait for this to be released that we used checkers (kittens) and chess pawns (cats) on a homemade 6x6 board that I printed out. Boop offers the perfect combination of very simple rules and high strategy. The production quality of the components is great. I highly recommend this one! Thanks for sharing Boop!
Oooh I just made this game because I couldn't get my hands on it. I crocheted 36 mini granny squares and stitched them together. A friend of mine 3d printed some black and white kitty bits for me to match my black and white cats!
@@wscottbrady how do I send pictures on RU-vid? Thank you for designing this beautiful game! I posted it on Reddit and you can find me under the same username FerociousKZ!
I bought the last two copies at my FLGS for Christmas gifts, one for my wife and one for my sister-in-law. Both are non-gamers but love cats. They love it. Such an elegant, nice puzzler. It's really hard to find games that my wife and I both enjoy. Sagrada is another favorite of ours, but the setup in much longer. This one is perfect. Great video!
Fantastic game Scott. Sometimes simple is harder than complex and bloated. Even without the theme, I think it's a great game- but man that theme really sells it. And it's thematic to boot.
@@wscottbrady I have not played that one as I am awful with colors or at, But those I know who have it love that one too! Simple but thinky huh? I think we are gonna have to follow your work more closely then. Thanks for the tip!
My brother and I played a Demo of this at PAX and each bought a copy immediately. It's such a wonderful game and you guys are right. It's 20 minutes or less the first few times you play. But man, I've had games go a WHILE. I imagine 2 evenly matched players could reach a stalemate. Which MAY not please everyone. But if you enjoy going blow-for-blow until one of you messes up and leaves an opening that the other player can seize... you'll love Boop.
I gifted this game to a friend for Xmas and made custom pieces based on his two cats. His orange kitten was so curious she tried to paw at the pieces while we were playing too lol. PS. I LOVE Naveen's capy shirt! May I ask where he got it!?
I actually thought it was going to be about the same box size as patchwork. It makes sense now looking at you play it you need that chonky kitty meeple feel haha!! Looking forward to seeing it in Australia when it gets here 🤗😻🐾
11:42 Monique could have placed kitten D4, kitten on C3 couldn't move bec of kitten on B2. it will push Naveen Kitten on E5 to F6. & Create a 3 in a row to transform into 3 cats
What a delightful little game! Seems so unforgiving though at the same time, there is no rng at all to make the game lighter. I need to test it with some friends to see if I would enjoy it in the long run. Thank you for a quality video!
Nice video, guys - Boop seems nice and cute - and an abstract game with a theme - go figure! As Monique is a fan of abstract games (like me), I recommend the GIPF Series, a wonderful, dry and themeless set of seven "common box size" games (I believe, Tamsk, an eighth game, in a larger box, was withdrawn - and also, I much disliked it's glass timer mechanism). The seven in my order of preference are: 1) Yinsh 2) Lyngk 3) Dvonn 4) Tzaar 5) Zertz 6) Gipf 7) Punct
Thank you so much for these recommendations! I've actually played Dvonn once but haven't had the chance to play any of the other in the series. In fact, I forgot about them! lol. Also, thanks for sharing your preference order. I really enjoyed Dvonn! It's so hard but also to the point, which is something I really appreciate about the themeless abstracts.
I also have Yinsh and Yzaar. Both solid abstracts! Picked up BOOP! last week. Now I just have to talk my work buddy into believing that kittens on a quilted bedspread is a great game idea!
I kinda want to get this game just to say “boop” over and over! Saw this at PAX but didn’t get to play it. I like abstracts from time to time but the only one I liked enough to own is Santorini New York which I prefer to the purer original. But I love the ripple effect here.
oooooo a 2 player only game AND CATS! We've got 4 cats, and love cat games. Going to have to get this one. I think my husband is gonna end up in the same situation....lol losing most of the time.
Very good game that I didn't even give it a second look because of the name and box cover look. I think it desperately needs to broadcast that it is a thinky abstract game. Certainly not hard, my 4 year old can play it, but as a tic tac toe style game it is surprisingly deep.
Naveen! Where do you get all your cool T-Shirts from? I'd love to buy some for my boyfriend! This one and the bear one in your Specre video are my favourites *_*
