Just fitted one of these and my main regret is not doing it years ago. Can now have a shower without the temperature fluctuating and tripping the thermal shut-off. Pressure everywhere in the house is now impressive. Great product that works great.

Done a few jobs with your help cheers mate you've saved me and the misses hundreds of pounds. You should see our toilet downstairs what a transformation. Can you do a vid on installing a shower tray and a glass pivot door thats me next job. Also a towel warmer with 10mm plastic pipes coming out the wall and how to pipe up cheers. fit pressure reducing valve before pump as i have had 1 burst as owing to spike in pressure above 10 bar over night and they wont your credit card before they come out to fix or repair lost customer place flooded

Great video. I have poor water pressure coming in from my mains supply and my water flow around the house is very much like the house in the video before the Salamander was fitted. However, I have an unvented hot water system (no cold water tank in the loft) with a heat only gas boiler rather than a combi. Before I contact my plumber, can I ask, will the Salamander Home Boost in the video make any difference to my water pressure? Thanks

Hi, I have modified my house gravity fed system by plumbing mains directly to cold taps and electric shower, but still keep water tank in the loft and hot cylinder tank. Can I install this boost pump so I can get more shower pressure, considering it's not for gravity fed system? Cheers

Fitted one of these 3 monthes ago, didn't wanna say there shit hot until i gave it some time. They are pretty quite aswell and don't really sound like a pump usualy sounds like. Pulled all the rust scale out of the iron incoming aswell. half a mug of crude. As it goes fella, do you know where you can get inline filters with a bigger mesh pot?

Installed this today...only kicks into max mode (fast flashing) when water demand half and not high demand fully open....is this affected by the fittings after the pump e.g. how many 90 bends etc

Hi guys, I have just had Thames water visit to check the flow and pressure in my house (having a rain shower fitted) Readings are as follows street flow 25+ lpm at 2 bar.15mm into house is 10 lpm cold tap 2 bar. Upstairs is 8 lpm 2bar. Top floor shower is 6 lpm 2bar. Question if I fitted a new salamander pump into the rising main would this pump when it senses a drop in pressure/flow above would a supply of 10 lpm be enough not to starve the pump? seems to be the solution otherwise its a new supply to the house 32mm which will cost thousands. Hi I had an issue with cold water feed, a scenario is there are 3 en-suite and 1 main bathroom also have massive kitchen but it’s now a combi boiler here, it’s system boiler with unvented tank, a pressure of cold water is almost died, as soon as u open 2 taps together water start splitting and on ground floor also on first floor a cold water flow is disappearing so is it a good chance to install a salamander pump or go back to savern Trent and request them to install a separate water meter??? Advice pls

We had one of these Salamander pumps fitted to alleviate an appallingly low water pressure problem. United Utilities swore that it was not their problem, even though several different plumbers complained of the same problem with several different housebuilders on the same estate. It does improve the flow rate, but not mentioned in the video is that it is pretty noisy. Our rising main is in the understairs cupboard which is where the pump has been fitted and you can here it throughout the house when it kicks in. No problem if you have solid internal walls, but a pain in a modern house with stud walls. Also our modern taps have restricters fitted anyway that minimise the flow for eco-reasons, so to really see a big benefit these would need removing, same with the modern shower head. However at least it doesn't take an age to fill the sink anymore and it's cheaper than trying to sue United Utilities!

looking to boost hot and cold water pressure throughout the house ...closed system. Installing new en suite in the attic where the shower above water tank so need to pump this too. Advice on what type of pump would be much appreciated. 5 bed house with kitchen, downstairs wc, family bathroom and master en suite. Two electric showers already in place so a third is not an option? The Homeboost is a cold water mains pump. It increases flow up to 12 litres per minute. It is possible to use it on your mains if you have a flow rate below that already. Though due to size of the house it is likely that you have more than that coming into the property. If that is the case then you would need to a fit cold water storage tank and use a shower pump to boost water performance. You might want to look at a pump/tank combination like ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s3Fy1xV70Yk.html The 1/2 hp pump can supply up to 40 lpm depending on the amount of lift and pressure setting on the pump. This is a whole house solution.

Thinking of installing a thermostatic shower on my Combi. I know I can't put a Shower pump in, will this pump aid the flow rate (about 8l/min) for hot coming from the boiler installing it on the cold inlet??

check your MIs for your boiler, if you boost too fast through a boiler of a lower KW rating, the boiler wont heat the water sufficiently, off the top of my head a valiant ecotec 24/25kw boiler will do about 9l/min

My house is located in the hillside. The water pressure in our connection cannot reach into our house so, I have to put a drum a get water there, very bad experience. The water stops in about 250 meters away from my house and about 45 degrees of inclination. Now, my question is, can I use this salamander booster pump to make the water reach our house? I will not put any pump away from my house for security reasons.

At my house the piping is too small and because of this, whenever more than one person is using the water the pressure is extremely low, I was thinking about picking one of these up but I fear that though it may help the one faucet being used that it may make the problem worse at other faucets. Hi, It is possible to increase flow to an electric shower. It will increase the flow rate up to around 12 litres per minute at around 1.5 bar. It can be located just below the shower to do the shower only, with non-return valves fitted on other outlets. Thanks

Hi, it would be advised to run the water feed on a hot, cold and mixed setting for 5 minutes before turning the power on at the pump.

Hi. Our water flow rate is around 10 litres a minute and combi boiler installed. When the toilet is flushed, the shower completely stops! Would this pump resolve this issue? I’m guessing this will boost the flow to all outlets within the house e.g taps, bath etc. Does anyone know if the pump is expensive to run? Electricity consumption? Cheers 👍🏻

Hi, we have a combi boiler (Baxi Combi 105 HE) and the same kind of bad flow (about 5L/min) at the kitchen sink tap. Do we need permission from the water company to install this pump, whats the regulations when installing mains pumps (flow rate, etc..) Also does it matter about the make/model of the combi boiler (will it handle it) Thanks, great video 👍

Hi, HomeBoost will provide a maximum of 12l/min. This is within water regulations, so you do not need permission from your water company to fit it. HomeBoost is compatible with all Combi boilers.

Does it have a low supply line pressure shut off to prevent it from drawing in water when the supply system is down and contaminants may be pulled into the supply line.

I've not got a combi boiler and the pressure isn't great. There was already a pump installed from previous owner. The pressure is a lot better, but the pump is very noisy. It has now packed in and the pressure is a joke. Is there a pump that will be quieter? What would you recommend?

Hi, HomeBoost must be installed either vertically or horizontally in order to comply with our warranty guidelines. It cannot be installed upside down.

Hi I have the same problem -we can hear it two floors down ! Copper pipes transmit all noise and vibration. Is so bad I had to put timer on power socket so does’t start after 12pm. So far I found that Salamander Flexible Anti Vibration Coupler may help

no, the only combi boilers that will run 2 showers at the same time will be something like the valliant 938, they have an internal storage, but it really depends on the plumbing of the DHW feed, one shower will nearly always starve the other

Why does it say to put shut off valve on one side for ... house? And other side for boiler?? What difference will that make?

Hi Paul when HomeBoost is fitted on the main you will have the Stop-tap sited just before the pump so the isolator is not necessary before the pump. Where as if it goes onto a boiler then the Isolator will need to go before the pump for isolation and removal purposes. @plumberparts I have a combi boiler and the pressure is very low always below 0.8 bar, the plumber who installed it said that the water pressure is too low and there is nothing else he can do. I was wondering if installing a booster like this will solve the problem ( we have problems with the shower every other 5 minutes there is only cold water for up to 30 seconds). This is for the whole house i live in an area where the water pressure is awful if you have a shower you couldn't flush the loo use the washing machine or have a combi boiler i had a combi boiler fitted last week with this pump fitted under my sink and the transformation is amazing my shower is now excellent even with the washing machine on etc wish i got one years ago

I would assume the water softener is designed for a specific gpm (I guess if you add a pump to it on either side you'll increase its flow rate anyways though) curious which would be better. Never worked on a system that requires softening.

Chanderesh Varsani yes and I often find giving it a good crack with a ball ended hammer loosens the fudge rotator and gives a much better flow rate, you should try it, your welcome.

The pump can be fitted onto the cold water main supply to an electric shower. To do that you must have non-return valves fitted on all of the outlets which take a feed off the main before the pump and ensure the flow rates are there for it to work. It needs 3 litres per minute to activate and will ramp you up to around 12 litres per minute.

Hi, HomeBoost cannot be used in this situation, as it is not compatible with lead mains supply.

@@davelaye7003 north America have 220v two phase supply. They use split phase to neutral which is centre tapped to the transformer. A different setup to what the uk uses

If it is mains fed such as via a combi boiler etc, you could increase the mains prior to the combi with the Homeboost. It depends on your flow rate. The pump will deliver 12 litres per minute and could help that situation. For more details give us a call on 0191 5162002

Good video James. Clever piece of kit. I think I would've put full bore isolation valves on either side so it's easier to remove the pump. Out of interest, why ask a sparky to earth bond?

plumberparts I understand the regs side, but why bond it? The pump is earthed via the plug socket, so why is additional bonding needed? What does the additional bonding look like once it's in place? Do you have to bond all pumps eg shower pumps?

Over 150 comments on this post. Say half are questions and take 5mins each to answer properly: 75 x5mins = 375minutes = 6.25hours. Then look at the number of videos he has. Do you really think it's feasible to answer every question whilst earning a living, creating videos and all the other things in life that take up time?

Depends what pressure youre currently getting, this pump will only work up to a certain point. If you really want to increase water pressure you need a storage tank + pump

Yes it will increase the output pressure, but your shower might not be as hot after fitting the pump, you could need a shower up grade and the supply cable to the shower will probable need up rating too, also the breaker.
