Made in the USA
Single fire Ignition
Rotor, Single Fire Coil, Control Module, Plug Wires and installation instructions included
Intelligent overvoltage / overcurrent protection.
Improved fuel economy:
Switching from a points (or contact breaker) ignition system to an electronic ignition system can offer several advantages for motorcycles, including the potential for improved fuel efficiency. Here's why:
Consistent Timing: One of the main benefits of electronic ignition systems is that they provide more consistent and accurate timing than points systems. Precise ignition timing is crucial for fuel combustion efficiency. Points can wear, float, or get dirty over time, which can cause inaccurate timing. In contrast, electronic ignitions maintain consistent timing, ensuring that fuel burns more efficiently.
Maintenance: Points systems require regular maintenance, including cleaning, gap adjustments, and sometimes replacement due to wear. If not properly maintained, a points system's efficiency can degrade, leading to suboptimal fuel combustion. Electronic systems, on the other hand, are virtually maintenance-free, ensuring that they operate at peak efficiency for longer periods.
Dwell Control: In points systems, the "dwell" (or the time the coil charges) is fixed, based on the cam profile. Electronic ignitions can control the dwell electronically, ensuring the coil gets fully charged and can deliver a strong spark throughout the RPM range. A better spark can lead to more complete combustion.
Fewer Moving Parts: With fewer moving parts than points systems, electronic ignitions are less prone to mechanical wear and tear. This durability ensures that the system maintains its efficiency over time.
Cold Starts and Variable Conditions: Electronic ignitions can offer improved starting in cold conditions and can adapt better to a range of operating conditions, ensuring efficient fuel combustion under various circumstances.
However, while electronic ignition can improve fuel efficiency and overall engine performance, it's essential to note that the magnitude of the improvement can vary based on the motorcycle, its condition, how it's ridden, and other factors. In some cases, the difference in fuel efficiency might be minimal, while in others, it could be more noticeable.

I installed the module prior to watching this video and the LED was not coming on. I was at a loss and assumed it was broken. I watched your video and I found that I was on the wrong stroke. I can't thank you enough!

Don;t cut the green one, you can use it as a tach signal for the timing light. Put a female connector on it and hide for if needed. Cheers.

Great explanation & instructions! At first I was nervous to replace the Dual Fire ignition system with a Single Fire ignition on my 2001 Indian Scout, but after watching your video I am more confident to do the work myself correctly. I also thought you had to do dynamic timing which you said was not necessary. Does it matter if my bike is carbureted & not fuel injected?
@ThrottleAddictionCo
@ThrottleAddictionCo Год назад
We also performed this on a cabureted Sportster so it's fine if your bike also has a carburetor. Yep dynamic timing is fine if you want to go that extra step to eek every tiny bit of performance out of your motor but static timing gets the job done for regular road riding.

Great kit, used these for years! Tip: order the data recorder for it, especially if it's going on a customers bike. We had a customer that went WFO 3 minutes of recieving the bike, and beat it to death until the first service .

Would you use the dame setting on a 883? My bike is idling erratically. Will idle normal then all of sudden drop. I know voes is advanced at idle. When the idle dropped i tested the voes snd found it not operating which is causing the low idle due to timing retarding. Im wanting this kit to just delete voes.

Good video, except when you started talking about where the wires were going, you said the blue went to rear -, and the Pink to front - on coil. Then when you connected the 2 wires you put them both on opposite terminals...Does this mean it doesn't matter which terminals the 2 wires connect to?

Yes it does matter. Pink is rear, and blue is front.

@ThrottleAddictionCo
@ThrottleAddictionCo Год назад
Sounds like you are at TDC exhaust stroke, not compression. Use the wheel to rotate the engine 180 degrees so you see the TDC line come back around and try again. While you're at it verify all of your switches are at the correct settings. Let me know if the issue persists after trying those fixes.

if im installing the chopper wiring kit and the igination key is it necessary to install this ultima kit ? and if so what should i do if i have the sportster s that comes with 4 spark plugs ?
@ThrottleAddictionCo
@ThrottleAddictionCo Год назад
The S is a bit of a beast, they have a bunch of extra/different components. Once everything is stripped off, our wiring harness (SKU 4077) will function the same on the S. As will the Ultima ignition (SKU 4026), the difference is the dual plugs. You can't run your stock coil because they are .5 Ohm, and the Ultima requires 3 Ohm. You will need either a 4 plug coil (SKU 4102), or two dual plug coils (SKU 4103) rated at 3 Ohms. Hope this helps! The only other thing to note, is you will want to set the static timing with the crank at 4 degrees after top dead center (rather than at TDC) compression stroke on the front cylinder.

What is the difference with this brand and dynatek 2000i?
@ThrottleAddictionCo
@ThrottleAddictionCo Год назад
No difference. Dynatek makes the ignition for Ultima. Both ignitions are made in the USA.
@leoispoop
@leoispoop 5 месяцев назад
Advance curves are different. Total advance is the same on both but the dyna advance comes in slower . This one is prone to detonation in the mid range if you set the dip switches the way it’s described in this video. I would not run one of these on curve 1 . If you do use this set it up for the least aggressive curve (curve 4)

Actually you skipped an important part when you said a “stripped down bike”. If your putting this on a kick only bike you have to reprogram it. From the factory it is programmed to have 3 dead revolutions before it puts out spark. They do this so the engine is spinning before you get spark otherwise you start is fighting very high compression if the fuel lights off when the engine is hardly moving. I have the software to reprogram it as these are made by Dynatek. If your bike is kick only you will never get it started since you can’t get it spinning fast enough for it to recognize to light the ignition up. I have video of how to program this Rap’s Garage Shop on RU-vid. I also have a video on how to install this that I think is a better way of doing it.
