Howdy! Thanks for watching the video! Sometimes, we must consider the most straightforward options to grow our audience list, such as Mailchimp's Forward to Friend or Share Email links/buttons. If you have any questions, let me know!
Hi Larry, great video ! I was wondering if you have an idea about the following: when you "forward to a friend", then there is a link of the campaign added. But in my versions the link is somehow connected to an old campaign (maybe because I copied that 2023 campaign to make the new one ?) and I can't seem to find any way how to "update" the link to the actual campaign. Any idea ?
To fix the link, remove the old campaign link and insert the FORWARD merge tag, as shown in the video. When the email is sent, it will create a link to an archived version, so when a person completes the Forward to a Friend form, an email with the link to the archived email campaign will be sent.
how can I edit the campaign link in the 'forward to a friend' e-mail ? in my case it is connected to an old campaign - is it because I copy the old old campaign to keep the design ?
Howdy! Thanks for your question. This merge tag FORWARD automatically populates with a link when the campaign is sent. So, it is probable that when you copied the content of the old campaign, you copied the archive link. However, I am curious when you click the link, does it take you to the form to fill out to forward the email, or does it take you directly to the archived email campaign?
when i click on "forward to a friend", then a new page opens just like in your video (4:55). The link on top (email campaign) then leads to the archived/old email campaign. Same with the recipient, in his e-mail the link to the archived/old email campaign appears. No clue how to edit/change that to the actual campaign...
Unfortunately, since the link is auto-generated, there is no way to manually change it. I would double-check the FORWARD Merge tag and the audience list and send the campaign email to yourself (not a test email). If you'd like you can send me the campaign to test as well.
@@LarrySnow Have already tried everything, does not change anything. Guess I will now start from the scratch and make a brand new template and create a new campaign out of it. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
