I can't thank you enough. I've tried everything possible on RU-vid to make my old system run msfs2020 just half way decent. I've been flying with a sparkling landscape, stuttering and terrible graphics forever. I did exactly what you showed and I'm running at all ultra settings, beautiful landscapes, buildings, smooth, not even a tiny stutter at all. I'm so friggin happy dude!! I'm running a Nvidia 1060 gpu and an i5 with 12gb of ram. Looks great. Building a crazy new machine after tax return. But this will get me through the wait foe sure. You ROCK sir! Subscribed.
You have no idea how much this helped me!! I was getting this 3x millisecond stutter exactly every 8 Min, I was about to go purchase a new CPU as I have an 3070ti (which should be fine) and a new CPU means new motherboard, Here in Australia I was looking to spend about $1000. I've searched everywhere on the net for my issue but could't find anything. In my event viewer this security auditing 4798 happened 3 time at the same time as the stutter. now it's all gone by following exactly what you've done, Not sure what setting it was but have been flying for 3 hours now and not one single issue. Thank you so much for putting this video up! very much appreciated 😉😉
By far the best improvement I got since I started in MSFS. Wild difference, thank you so much. I tested in NY city with Ultra Settings + TAA + DX11 I got stable 30fps, with DLSS Quality I got 40. Remembering It's a RTX3050 6GB + Ryzen 5 5500. I wish you the best!
Awesome!! I can’t thank you enough. I tried everything before but still was getting stutters. Finally came up to your channel. I follow the steps and finally no more stutters. Thanks again for posting this video!
Nocturnal: thank you many times over. I'm a VR flyer and I need all the help I can get squeezing the best settings for my PC. This gave me a substantial boost and the sim performs so much better now!!
Excuse the double intro, apparently I just wanted to say hello to everyone twice! 😅 @roberthorton9599 brought up a good point, the OpenGL setting is NOT needed. It won't hurt if you have it on if you've already turned it on.
uninstalled, not convinced it made much difference and started a delayed pop up timer on boot after a supposed trial i guess asking me if i want to buy it.. yeh na@@nocturnalsimulations
Thanks for your advice on Nvidia settings. I have a 3080 too and just the other day in PNG bush flying my frame almost came to a standstill. I applied the changes you suggested and my frame rate improved as did my issue with latency. Thanks again and be well.
Thanks. Good settings in general, but why bother with the OpenGL setting? MSFS is DX11 or DX12 only and does not use OpenGL at all (although the setting wont actually cause any harm).
Hello, thank you for the advice. But I do not understand what you mean around 1:27-1:29 when you speak of the "end simulator settings". What do you mean here. So I set the anisotropic filtering to x16 in the Nvidia app, and then what? Do you mean that in MSFS I can turn some option off? I you could clarify what you mean with this? Thanks you for the video and advice.
My southern accent comes out occasionally haha. I meant “in” the simulator settings you can turn off anisotropic filtering if you’ve got it set to 16x through the nvidia panel for MSFS. My understanding is that the nvidia setting may, depending on your system, improve the picture quality by doing this.
@@nocturnalsimulations Yeah I had the same question, and I figured it out, thanks guys. Open MSFS > Option/Setting > General (search anisotropic filtering) and then turn off.
A useful and informative video. Thank you. By way of constructive feedback, in a three minute video it takes until 1:10 before the first actual tweak is established. Less of the introductory guff would be an improvement when working within such a tight time frame. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback, I've been trying to keep a good balance of this in my newer videos and always trying new things! I unfortunately left a double intro in this during editing so that was some pie on my face too!
Just a FYI (in case someone else has an older 7700k CPU, the low latency mode should remain off. Turning this on (and worse Ultra setting) reduces the frames by a large margin.
I don’t even know how the performance boost is possible. Now my RTX 4050 is running beyond ultra settings at a constant 40 fps. (What I cap MSFS to) which only wavers when going through huge cities.
At 1:30 of the video, you mention "end simulator settings" but it wasn't entirely clear what was to be done or what the "end simulator settings" was all about. Could you please clarify? Thanks
I was expecting a little bit of improvement on fps, every time i follow some recomendation to mess on the control panel i get like, 5 fps and it’s alright. I was not expecting to gain over 30fps and a better visual quality as well. Even before i started flying the improvements were very noticeable at the menu alone. This video tells me two things: 1- you’re a great tutorial maker? Thanks a lot 2- godamn asobo, is it that hard to optimize your stuff correctly??? Jesus.
Thank you so much for sharing your idea of setting up, It does help on mine, I have Nvidia RTX-3060, and I am still trying to figure it out what is best setting on my MSFS 2020, I follow your suggestions for set up over Nvidia, it helps a lot and graphic looks good, but still show a little lag when get to detailed airport such as KLAS/KJFK/KLAX(especially descend on final) so my question is how do you set up the graphics over MSFS2020 itself, with the setting(on Nvidia) you mentioned on this video, do you mind to share that with us, so we can have an idea how both side setting would affect the outcome and how to fine tune to eliminate the lag , thanks for your time. I really appreciate your effort.
MSFS needs both a powerful GPU and CPU, which CPU do you use? I have a guide in one of my earlier versions where I also cover the in game settings and also another guide on how to enable rBAR which could potentially help you out too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3TBw70Tgba8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LW6bU90p9yg.html
I am curious if there is a config file that is saved when these changes are made? if so where are they located? I ask because when nvidia puts out new drivers and they are installed this would have to be done every time new drivers are installed
That's a good question! Google Nvidia Profile Inspector. It has the capability to backup your files and I believe this may serve the purpose you are after!
@@nocturnalsimulations Set it to 45 FPS, raised graphics in too high in places, airport traffic density up a few, 1920 x 1080p resolution and tested it at EGLL with a Neo, traffic injector on, FS Realistic Pro on, at night and rain. PC ran at a steady 38 - 42 FPS with no stutters. Had a flights at other locations and the game operated smoother with better visuals. Your help and advise and time is very much appreciated. PS However my flying of the Kitfox only improved a little.
excellent, do you have any tips for the Radeon GPU also? I have the RX 5700 XT and can't seem to find the sweet spot for MSFS2020. The CPU is Ryzen 7 5700G and while running this, is always on the higher utilization than the GPU and core temps of 90+C. Is there any tweak to get CPU to relax and GPU to be doing it's part and thus the heavy lifting? Thanks
Stand by, my next video will cover pushing more work onto the GPU. Basically upping graphics that typically get rendered by the GPU will offload the tasks to the CPU and give the CPU more overhead. This in turn increases the visuals of the sim too, so it’s a bit of a win/win
Thanks. I didn't find that last setting "last section is under Video Adjust Video Color Settings located under Video, you'll want to make sure you click "With Nvidia settings under how do you make color adjustments. Go to the Advanced tab, and select full for your dynamic range."
Thanks for the comment! As of right now I don't actually use VR, I use TrackIR for the head tracking. Is there something you're struggling with performance wise?
Love your content...but if you can go just a little bit slower that would be great. I was really scrambling. Look forward to seeing the effect of these changes. Thanks!
Here is a video I did a while back, I’ve made some hardware upgrades since then but haven’t made a new video yet MSFS | Guide | Ultra Graphics Performance Settings, Tips, and Tricks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3TBw70Tgba8.html
Thank you! Going to try it next time...Now can you do a Video for the perfect VR performance settings? I'm using the HP Reverb G2 and I always get micro stutters...sometimes it's quite annoying in VR...Rig: i9 9900k, RTX 3080 OC Asus Strix, 32GB RAM running at 3200Mhz :)
Hmmm…well I don’t have a VR headset so it may be difficult to test. Have you checked out my rBAR video? It could potentially help too. MSFS | Guide | Improve your FPS and reduce stutters by doing this! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LW6bU90p9yg.html
You can turn anisotropic filtering to “off” in the simulator settings assuming it’s on in the Nvidia panel. If for some reason it doesn’t work for you simply revert back to your setting of choice in the sim. You can then revert the Nvidia control panel back to “let the application decide” or whatever the language says.
@@nocturnalsimulations Thanks for your response. I was interpreting it as "turn off MSFS graphics settings as a whole, relying solely on the the NVidia panel.". Cheers!
Does anyone else get this odd but very subtle ground texture brightness/refresh flicker when looking at the ground from the VC, particularly left/down from the pilot's perspective and especially if the camera has both the MFD and the ground in the same frame? Is this a game engine thing? I don't really notice this on any other title, but its pretty annoying.
@nocturnalsimulations it's only there in motion and more noticable when flying. Its some kind of refresh thing with the game engine. It's so subtle that some people may not even notice it.
It's a known issue by both Asobo and Nvidia, they are working on a solution last I heard. In the mean time you can roll back to version 531.29 of your graphics driver and I bet it solves your issue!
I need to do some testing on that one, you might give it a go with each option in the sim and see which one is best! My guess is that having it on in the nvidia panel is best and having it on in-sim will either help some more or do nothing extra.
@@FloridaVibesOfficial You can set global settings and per-game settings in the Nvidia control panel. You see a global settings tab and a program-settings tab where you can chose individual game settings. Sorry I can't give you the exact English description since I run my windows in another language.
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately there’s no one size fits all for performance tweaks due to everyone having a different setup so keep trying different things and find what works!
All that stuff helps a little but if you really want to improve framerate turn off that AI traffic it's is broken, they are not fixing it and it crushes even the the best CPU. You can always play with online traffic and that works fine but the AI is joke and once you shut it off it will actually use for Video card fully.
My 960M runs it. You need to lower resolution a bit and disable "allow apps to run on the background (search background apps)". Follow his steps except for x16 and turn it off. The rest will help and also set everything to minimum. If possible get into your BIOS for fan set always to MAX. There are some more tricks you can use to your GPU and CPU but not more than 20% of gain from this point onwards. Also make sure to clean your fans and ventilation system Edit: you may also notice a performance improvement on winter due to colder air, but that is less than 2% for me
Also make sure no other windows are opened or in use, also check startup programs non-essential are off as well as to only use GPU dedicated for MFS and delegate the rest to intel card if you can Edit: Lifting your computer if it's a pc with a book will make airflow be smoother, although I haven't seen much of a difference (except if it is coming from a completely obstructed airflow) not more than 2% gain on that
@@nocturnalsimulations Work of Gaming? You kindly set an invite to a Friday event? I have only been on MSFS 2020 for a month and not sure how you join and plus my flying skills are not great. Advise would be very much appreciated.
You’re being a bit dramatic don’t ya think? There’s probably settings you can do with AMD hardware too! I just don’t have an AMD system, nor much experience with one to give advice.
@@nocturnalsimulations exactly. but you know whiners gonna whine. there are other videos out there 10 to 15 min long that do not cover some of the things you covered in under 3 min. the only knock on this video is you did not show how to shut off the MSFS game settings to use these settings. other than that best graphics config video i have seen.
